The egotistical part comes from this song we had to sing in chorus–“God Bless the U.S.A.” I understand that, but we still have some shades of the dull fifties in which we revel in. We also judge people as well (discrimination incidents, Obama-being-an-American-or not-thing, immediate distrust of Muslims). Maybe it’s because I’ve lived here too long, but…you might disagree.
The united states government sometimes grinds my gears.
Protesters sometimes grind my gears.
The Hunchback was actually well received. Not as much as it should, but it got a high approval.
I meant Disney fans, movie fans, and regular people. It didn’t have a very high box office, and has few fans left. Of course critics like it, they’re not idiots. Except Around White…
And actually in my experience, most Americans are either very egotistical or very self conscious, either of which very annoys me. I can’t stand people who think they’re too good, but people who are always doubting themselves and saying, “I’m, so ugly, I’m so stupid” annoy me tenfold. People in the US(or at least in Knoxville) stink. Period.

Nice…I agree.
I’m not from The States so I can’t really judge. I don’t really believe the stereotypes from the Americans I have met though, they are no different from the kind of people I’m used to. No doubt that some stereotypes can be true in some cases though, I mean that’s how they came about in the first place.
Where are you from, MissCarrera. I believed you were from USA.
Did you? Oh, well I’m actually a thorough-bred Canadian.
Great. I love Canada. It’s among the countries I would like to live in.
Thanks! It’s not often that I hear compliments towards Canada. I think what I love most is how safe Canada feels. What country are you from (if you don’t mind me asking). I’m under the impression that you’re from the U.S. as well.
I’m from Venezuela. That’s why my English isn’t so good.
Unlike you, what I dislike the most about my country is that I don’t feel safe at all. That’s exactly what I like about Canada.
I think what I love most is how safe Canada feels.
i know this guy who lived in canada and he said the exact same thing. i’m jealous. i’m from the states and while i’m not constantly freaking out about my safety, i fear for it so much sometimes.
but then again, on top of that i’m really paranoid, lol.
Yeah, I understand what you’re saying. I see some of the tragic things that happen around the world but Canada always remains quite peaceful. What I don’t like is the lack of excitement. I don’t know any places in Canada I really want to visit or that have huge landmarks or anything. There are so many places I would love to go in the U.S. however. But that could just be because I live in Canada so I’m more drawn to other countries. SOA, I’m surprised to hear that’s where you’re from! So exotic! I’m sorry to hear about that uneasy feeling you have though, must be awful. I think I have taken my safety for granted. On top of that, I have to say your English is actually really good. I never would have guessed, so you should be proud of yourself!
I’ve always thought his English was better than he lets on.

Ah yes. I forgot that every single American in the USA discriminates and distrusts Muslims. sarcasm Just letting you know, that happens ALL around the world. No country is perfect, every country has nutjobs.
Virginia: People who say I’m so stupid or I’m so ugly? Yeah, Americans do that. Some do. I met people in Ireland doing the same thing.
As for the song. Most cultures have a prideful song. I for one believe that the USA should be blessed, alongside every country on Earth.
Now, America isn’t a perfect place. I’m ashamed to say my country still doesn’t allow equal rights (such as denying homosexuals from equal marriage. That is so unconstitutional it’s not even funny) and it’s horrible health care system. But honestly guys, we’re way more progressive then many places on this Earth.
i find that egotistical people grind my gears.
I know this is “the best place on Earth” and everyone’s so proud to be an American and people in Korea and Africa are starving and dying of AIDS. I know and I’m sorry. But I do not love America. I feel no patriotism for this or any other country. The closest thing I feel to that is my interest in England and Japan. I do not love America or the people of America or the government of America. And it is not just because I don’t agree with the government, I don’t like my country. Whenever I think about America, I just think of these people
Or this person
Or him
or these dirt bags
Really?
Oh my God.
I know everyone here is not like this. And I live in the South, so I probably see the worse side of these morons more than some in the North and West(<3). And people from other countries, obviously. But no matter what arguments there are or how amazingly true they are, I do not and have not loved America. And I guess I might never love it. I have no regrets.
Well, I can’t relate with you about those feelings.
But the good thing is that your country has so many things more than those.
Unforuntately, becasue this is america, you’re going to get people of very extreme groups. Their beliefs are strong, and can sometimes hurt. It annoys me too, but I can’t do anything about it because it’s America, you have the right to free speech.
And this is what happens when Freedom is left to be played out in the field, and then, the men cuff it, tie him up, throw him in a cage to starve of his life…
I remember that my Main Character has a strong opinion against America much in the same way that you guys are referencing: Egotistical, Selfish, and apparently ‘all that’. Maybe that’s because he’s been in World War…4.
The only thing that bottles me up about America is the politics and the celebrities, seeing that they assume they are all above everyone else with their money while they leave us to rot with no extra change. If I ever was to become these celebrities, I wouldn’t need the money…I’d give it away to charities and fundraisers.
