You know what really grinds my gears?

I hate thing’s that suck the life out of a bettery quick.

[b:3vmjbtrm]Amy[/b:3vmjbtrm]: I could not agree more. They actually made us write essays last year discussing the topic of if the junk should be removed or not. And they pretended that it had [i:3vmjbtrm]nothing[/i:3vmjbtrm] to do with our school. :-\ Everyone knew it was about our school. Anyways, most of us wrote against removing it, but the school board didn’t seem to care. I even talked about that point in my essay; we should make our own food choices. If you can’t learn to make some healthy choices now, then how will you learn when you get into the real world? Kids need to be able to learn that they DO have the option of junk food, but it is not for always. My school did that thing with the pop too. We have either diet or no sugar drinks. :|

Whoa! I was actually about to say that! 8D

Haha. One thing if my mom’s camera.

I agree that people should be free to make their own choices, but at the same time a LOT of students aren’t going to do what’s best for their body. In my own personal experience, I wasn’t chubby at all as a young kid but then I gained about 15-20 pounds after transferring to a school that had vending machines and junk food galore, which I chose to eat for breakfast and lunch every school day. That was a HUGE portion of my daily food intake, unfortunately. It wasn’t until high school that I stopped consuming animal products due to my morals and that led to healthier eating choices as well. I pretty much stopped drinking soda and lost interest in candy, chips, and anything resembling fast food (in fact, I think there was a point when I hadn’t consumed a french fry in years).

Anyway, so maybe some students will make wiser choices like myself (not like I’m super healthy, but I do make a lot of nutrient-rich meals at home), but when there are greasy french fries, burgers, pizza, and ranch-drenched salads as alternative, familiar options (perhaps even tastier)—well, what kid wouldn’t opt for those? I do acknowledge that high school students are rather mature and also very conscious of their bodies, but at the same time, if schools can reduce the junk that kids consume, that’s great in my honest opinion. If students are mostly limited to consuming sugary drinks and fried fast food outside of school hours, then that’s making a significant impact on their health. It’s hard to deny that there’s an obesity problem among the youth of our country, and we’re at a point where simply allowing children to decide what to put in their bodies is unfortunately not enough. However, I’m not sure about your schools, Amy and Miss Carrera, because maybe your school populations are rather healthy. Regardless, kids can still make healthy decisions without the presence of greasy food and sodas; they simply won’t be tempted as much by the bad stuff.

It also doesn’t surprise me that healthy cafeteria food tastes like cardboard, but at the same time, does cafeteria food normally taste that great? 8D

Yes, I know, it is all for the best. It is just maddening when you are one of the people that only has it here and there and knows how to make healthy choices. So I suppose there is good to it but it would also help if they made the healthy food worth it. Like not ripping us off or providing more variety. Some kids rely on buying their lunch there, so they could be more reasonable on the pricing. Then again, that’s what the entire world is like now, insane inflation. And kids just walk to the pizza place or McDonald’s instead and end up being late for school. Not that the schoolboard would have considered that. :unamused:

8D True!

Not all cafeteria taste bad. My high schools pasta tasted good. Their was alway’s a long line for it.

I hate it when people say “I was just testing you.” when you correct something they say, when they actually made an honest mistake.

True, the healthy options should at least taste decent. It’s a shame that unhealthy food tends to be the cheapest stuff out there, and especially when it’s something not homemade.

Whilst on the topic of healthy eating…

Really?

People who think everyone has to be wild and a smoker/drinker or else they’re not cool.

Same.

Drinkers and smokers are not very popular with me.

Especially people who are really annoying about it.

I hate it when I take a shower and find out their’s not towell in the room.

Oh, I know. That happens to me a lot.

It’s more annoying in the winter.

I’ve done that plenty of times too.

True. I dont’ have a problem with smoking or drinking, I dont’ do it, but if other people do it it’s fine. I grew up where it’s common to have a glass of wine or a beer every night.

But people who depend on drugs or alcohol is another thing. It’s like they think they won’t have a good time unless they’re under the influence. My friends and I aren’t like that, I’m glad I found a group of people who are able to ahve fun without wasting money to look like an idiot.

It’s not quite as bad as going to the toilet and finding theres no loo roll though 8D

Now THAT I always check.

Oh, that would be bad. That happened to me once in a store.
