Your DVD Collection

I’m thinking about get Finding Nemo on DVD. But I don’t may wait to I get a job in case I have touse that money on something ore important.

Oh, that’d be sweet!

For my birthday, my friend gave me How to Train Your Dragon.

I also bought recently Secret of Kells, Office Season 2, and the Marx Brother Silver Screen Collection. With 6 of their movies. Now I own both Marx Brother box sets, and all their movies.

That’s great^^. I really need to watch some Marx Brothers films.

You def do! You can find quite a few on youtube. I suggest Duck Soup.

Alright^, I’ll check it out sometime.

I got Cars and Cars 2 On Blu-Ray today. I also got Cars 2 on DVD today (double DVD/Blu-Ray pack). So I now have all the released Pixar Blu-Rays. and All the DVDs.

^Oh wow, you’re a better Pixar fan than I im in that category.

Sadly, I couldn’t comfortably fit my TV into the car on the trip back from school, and since it’s the only HD TV in my family, I can’t watch blu-rays this summer! Which is okay, but that means I will be putting off purchasing The Incredibles and Cars 2 blu-rays, even though I finally have money now that I’m working full-time. :unamused: Oh well, I’m sure I’ll enjoy having them in September.

Instead, I’m going to buy the second and third seasons of “Veronica Mars” since I already have the first. For the longest time the DVDs were always, like, $45+ each, which is just too much for even a show I love. I’m going to have a marathon, yay!

Other series I’m looking into purchasing the rest of: “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” (s6), “Seinfeld” (s3, 4, 5, 8, 9), “I Love Lucy” (complete series), and “Boy Meets World” (ditto!). Each of them are relatively cheap, and I think it would be nice to have marathons when I’m bored at school.

The only Pixar DVD’s I need to get are Ratatouille and Wall-E.

I bought On The Waterfront (1954)on DVD today, so that’s an addition to my DVD collection.

The next DVDs I plan to get are Beauty and the Beast and The Muppets.

Yaaaay, I finally got the Incredibles and Cars 2 blu-rays. Also recently purchased: The Descendants and Hunger Games blu-rays and the remaining “Seinfeld” seasons I didn’t have.

My DVD collection has grown very much since my last posting!

Well, I just got myself a PS3. And the first Blu-Ray I bought for my household was not a Pixar film, but a Blue Sky one.

Before I clicked the link I knew it’d be Rio! Good choice, I have that Blu Ray as well.

Haha, cool EJE! My video store had many versions (including the 3D+2D Blu-Ray+DVD+Digital combo packs), but I went for a no-frills 2D Blu-Ray.

Well, it’s not exactly no-frills, cos’ the one I picked has language tracks for English, Castilian Spanish, Italian, Russian, Bulgarian, Estonian, Icelandic, Hindi, Polish, Thai, Ukranian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Hungarian, and last but not least Portuguese (although not sure if Brazilian or European). And subtitles for all of them too!

Yeah, it’s eye-wateringly extensive. If French, Mandarin and Cantonese was in there that woulda been perfect (I know these three dubs exist from the Pretty Bird microsite), but I probably would be exhausted going through previews of these dubs alone (just to hear how different the voices are for each character in various languages). I’ve already watched the English one (my TV/PS3 put letterboxes in it for some reason) and I’ll probably try Portuguese next time I feel like a rewatch.

^Icelandic? Icelandic! That is so random! Where I come from, the only language tracks they have are English, Spanish, and French. Occasionally you will see Portuguese or German.

For Christmas I got The Dark Knight Rises and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Chuck Jones version).

Yeah, I saw an imported version with English, Spanish and French. Maybe I’ll get that next time for completionist sake, but I got this one primarily for the Portuguese language track. I have this thing where I like to watch a film in the native language of its setting, so I have a not-so-legal rip of Kung Fu Panda in Mandarin and Cantonese, for example, and I plan to get Ratatouille on Blu-Ray with the French dub.

I once watched a not-so-legal rip of Cars in French where Cecile De France voiced Sally, and she sounded so adorable. But when I watch the French dub on SIA’s (Singapore’s national airlines’) in-flight entertainment system, Sally’s voiced by a different actress. Maybe it’s a French-Canadian version or something.

Good pick on TDK, it’s one of my favourite films of the year (Hathaway was a huge factor).

Rio’s the only Blu-Ray I have at the mo’, but I’ve noticed that I have a favourite film for each year since 2006 (the year that I became a Pixar fan), and they all happen to be animated (despite the many live-action films I’ve seen).

2006 - Cars
2007 - Ratatouille
2008 - Wall-E
2009 - The Princess And The Frog
2010 - How To Train Your Dragon
2011 - Rio

I plan to get a Blu-Ray for each of them. Maybe one month at a time, to go with my paycheck!

^I like that idea of your favourite movie for each year getting a blu ray! I just get mine sporatically. I only have Rio, Brave, Tangled, and The Avengers on Blu Ray, mostly because I wanted their behind the scene features!

I’m going to check and see if my Rio DVD has the Portuguese track, because that’d be amazing.

Yeah, I only really get them for the bonus features. It’s real easy to get a High-Def copy through less-than-legal means, and unless someone tells me I can download the bonus features the same way too, I’m forced to buy legal copies for home video.

Yes, I’m not ashamed to admit this, but this is because a) I don’t have a lot of money, and b) I go to the cinemas a lot, which is where I do my financial support for the studios. I also rarely rewatch movies, so I’m content with seeing them once in theatres and reserving any remaining disposable income for merchandise (comic books, plushies, T-shirts, etc).

Just yesterday I was window shopping after watching Les Mis, and I saw Legend of the Guardians and Heat on Blu-Ray going for 20 bucks each. I don’t know if that’s cheap (I hardly buy home videos), but I’m mighty tempted to get them this weekend. Then I can have a talking owls/bank robbery movie marathon!

Ahaha, do let us know!
