Your Pixar Movies Classification

Here’s my updated list:

  1. The Incredibles
  2. Finding Nemo
  3. WALL-E
  4. Ratatouille
  5. Toy Story 2
  6. Toy Story
  7. A Bug’s Life
  8. Monsters, Inc.
  9. Cars

As I mentioned numerous times before, I still thought Cars was a masterpiece despite placing “last” in my list.

I had major doubts about WALL-E the first time I read its premise (I felt particularly uncomfortable about the incorporation of live action, as well as the whole “silent movie” thing). But Pixar pulled it off big time.

(By the way, WALL-E currently ranks at an impressive #9 in IMDb’s Top 250, making it the only film released after the year 2000 to rank in the top 10).

Still haven’t seen a few, but ignoring TS2 and Bugs Life:

#1) WALL-E
#2) Ratatouille
#3) Finding Nemo
#4) The Incredibles
#5) Toy Story
#6) Monsters Inc
#7) Cars

I’ve seen WALL-E twice now and I have confirmed that this isn’t just fanboy syndrome. I personally believe WALL-E to be the finest film created by the studio in many ways. Ratatouille and Finding Nemo come in close second and third. Honestly those three are all No1.s, with The Incredibles being second tier, Toy Story and Monsters Inc next, then Cars.

  1. Wall•E
  2. Ratatouille
  3. The Incredibles
  4. Monsters Inc
  5. Toy Story 2
  6. Toy Story
  7. Cars
  8. A Bug’s Life
  9. Finding Nemo

Jeez, Wall-e is jumping up everybodies list. I really should see it a second time.

I have a completely different list to anyone here thus far. I have an unbeliavably hard time deciding which ranks where in this list because they’re all my favorite movies.

I basically like them all the same (except for The Incredibles, sorry TSS, try not to hate me too much  ) and I only like one over the other for the tiniest reasons. Anyhoo…

  1. Toy Story (the best movie ever, nothing will ever get me more excited or laugh harder)

  2. Toy Story 2, & Monsters Inc. (Toy Story 2 was brilliant, yet I just barely liked the original more, and Monsters Inc. was equally hilarious)

  3. A Bug’s Life, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille, & WALL-E (I know this is ridiculous but I really can NOT decide)

  4. Cars (really enjoyed it and still one of my favorite movies, but theres just something missing)

  5. The Incredibles (really didn’t like this one, I just can’t stand super heroes with all the action and fighting and the plot just didn’t interest me, I admit it was made very, very well but… my apologies again TSS)

Oh don’t worry Falling WIh Style. I totally understand. You might not like the Super Hero genre, and as for me, I never really enjoyed WALL-E as much as most on here, but I am totally okay with it. Your opinion is your opinion. I ain’t gonna do anything to force you to think or say otherwise.

Ha ha ha! I know TSS , I was just joking.

Oh, I see. I am just glad WALL-E lovers on this board aren’t bashing me yet for it not being my favorite movie.

Well, after finishing the missing films and revisiting some of the others, I can now make my definitive list.

  1. WALL-E and Finding Nemo
  2. Ratatouille
  3. Toy Story
  4. The Incredibles
  5. Toy Story 2
  6. Monsters Inc
  7. Bugs Life
    8 ) Cars

As I said before, WALL-E, FInding Nemo and Ratatouille are tied as my favourites, but I suppose Ratatouille falls behind Nemo and WALL-E because I feel those films have a greater emotional impact, while Ratatouille is a very finely crafted film. Toy Story is Pixar’s charm on display and even if it’s not their most complex film, it still has that nostalgia. The problem with Cars is it’s lack of subtle dialog and overt pop culture references (Jay Limo) reminded me too much of soulless productions like Shark Tale.

My list (probably will never be ‘finalized,’ but this is the closest)-

  1. Toy Story 2
  2. The Incredibles
  3. Wall-E
    4)Ratatouille
  4. Finding Nemo
  5. Cars
  6. A Bug’s Life
    :sunglasses: Monsters Inc
  7. Toy Story

Toy Story to me was a nice introduction, but even now, I have a hard time really getting into it. I think it was a combination of the ‘Buzz thinks he’s real’ and ‘Sid’s torturing his toys’ that kind of turns me off. Some found the mutant toys kind of cool, but I’m a kid (like John Lasseter) who always took care of his toys. I much prefer Buzz having come to his senses and his role in ‘Toy Story 2.’ ‘Normal Buzz’ made ‘Psychotic Buzz’ all the more tolerable in TS2.

Monsters Inc had some great character animation with Sulley and Boo, but there were some plot points that seemed a bit muddled near the end. As well, I never really got the idea that Sully was as big a workaholic as they seemed to make him out to be.

uruseiranma- The ironic thing is that Sulley probably wasn’t a workaholic at all, but was just looked favourably upon. But that’s for another thread.

Seems like WALL-E is really shooting up everyone’s lists! It looks as though WALL-E is a general crowd pleaser, as opposed to some of Pixar’s previous films where nearly everyone would enjoy the film, but there would always be the few that absolutely hated it.

lizardgirl: I think I am the only one with WALL-E on the bottom of my list.

Someone ambitious should collect all this data and make it into a chart or something…

Oh that would be a cool idea. But of course the chart would be a little biased.

How so? Everyone has different opinions…

True, but I think it would lean more towards to favore a certain movie you know what I mean? I am already guesssing WALL-E toped in everyone’s list.

But you know what? Someone go ahead and give it a go. Try to make the chart. I think it is a great idea.

Oooh! A Maths project! Can I bagsy this one?

No, seriously. If no-one else wants to do this, I really will. It sounds like a great idea, and I’d be happy to update it every now and then when new Pixar lists are made.

Go on ahead lizardgirl. If you want to do it, I encourage you to do it. Have fun.

  1. WALL-E
  2. Monsters Inc.
  3. Toy story
  4. A Bugs life
  5. Finding nemo
  6. Toy Story 2
  7. Cars
  8. The Incredibles
  9. Ratatouille

To be hones the only pixar movie i dont like is Ratatouille i just dont like it alot

Beat ya to it, LizardGirl!

POST WALL-E PIXARPLANET USERS’ TOP FILMS

I tallied up the lists of all the users who posted a list after WALL-E was released (I’ll do a pre-WALL-E list… when I feel like it ). Here were the rules for your list to be counted:

1. You had to have a complete list. All nine movies, ranked in order.
2. If you had a tie, I flipped a coin (very scientific, I know…)
3. I only used the latest version of your list

So, 13 lists got counted and thrown into an Excel spreadsheet. And the results are…

BASED ON AVERAGE RANK
1. WALL-E (2.77)
2. Ratatouille (3.15)
3. Finding Nemo (3.69)
4. The Incredibles (4.08)
5. Toy Story 2 (4.31)
6. Monsters, Inc. (5.77)
7. Toy Story (6.31)
8. A Bug’s Life (7.23)
9. Cars (7.69)

BASED ON TOP 3 FINISHES
1. WALL-E (11)
2. Ratatouille (8)
3. Finding Nemo (7)
4. The Incredibles (5)
5. Toy Story 2 (3)
6. Toy Story (2)
7. Monsters, Inc. (2)
8. Cars (1)
9. A Bug’s Life (0)

BASED ON NUMBER ONE SPOTS
1 (Tied). Ratatouille and The Incredibles (3)
3 (Tied). WALL-E and Finding Nemo (2)
5 (Tied). Monsters, Inc. Toy Story 2, and Toy Story (1)
8 (Tied). Cars and A Bug’s Life (0)
