Just a reminder that the 79th Annual Academy
Awards will be presented live on ABC tonight at 8:00 PM EST!
I’ll be at…work.
Thank goodness for videocassettes.
Well, enjoy the Oscars, everyone. We can discuss them here
later.
Good luck to the Pixar team with Cars and
Lifted!
~~=oP
I think they’re also showing them on Sky Movies at midnight, so I’ll just be
recording those as well, and watching it tomorrow.

Yep – I’m counting down the seconds! Go
Happy Feet! And Cars too, of course. I’m also rooting
for Lifted, as well. Sooo…we’ll just see what happens.
I’m sorry you
have to work tonight, PixarVixen. That sucks.
Well, I will be cheering for Cars and Pixar of course. I will probably be the only one jumping around my house
if Pixar wins.
First the Golden Globes mid last month, then the Grammys only weeks ago, and now we are at the
last of one of all of them this evening.
Will be watching it as well, although likely bits and
pieces.
Cars won the Globes. So hopefully it will be able to spin up on the
Oscars as well tonight

and only Dory of FN and Pixar is hosting this years Academy

Got my fingers crossed for CARS!!!

Since this is
the only Oscars thread right now, I’ll announce it here:
Being TV-less, I’ve been keeping up with IMDB,
which displays the winners as each category is announced, and “Lifted” did not win the Best Short Film,
Animated. The winner is called “The Danish Poet.”
Best Animated Feature Film has not been
announced yet, as of 9:18 pm Eastern time.

Aaargh, so angry. Cars > Happy Feet, no
matter what. But nothing we can do.
Cars didn’t win, as some of you here have already announced… I was rooting for
Cars because it was brilliant, and it happened to be the only one of the three
nominees that I’ve seen. Oh well - you win some, you lose some.
Who knows? Perhaps I’d end up liking
Happy Feet as well. There’s not a speck of doubt in my mind, however, that
Cars was a masterpiece.

Politics - that’s the only reason Happy Feet won. It’s that “Green Oscars” crap.
Anway, I’ve
seen all the nominated films, and Cars should have won. Happy Feet was good, but Cars was just brilliant. Flushed
Away was great too - shame that didn’t get a nom, instead of Monster House.
Man, I was so surprised to see Happy Feet won over
Cars. BUt then again, it was indeed a tight race. Both films were really good. Oh well, I hope Pixar gets a shot
next year.

I am a little p***ed off that CARS didn’t win best animated feature.
It’s, all true. Cars was not chosen.
I had a feeling it was not going to
because of its win in the past Golden Globes. But then again we should be happy that it did win this years Golden
Globe award for best animated feature film.
It’s obvious that the Academy had an excuse (Likely negative)
to not choose Cars.
This has also happened with Toy Story 2, where it also won the Golden Globe, but was not
chosen by the Academy Awards/Oscars, afterwards.
Just because one won the golden globes, doesn’t mean you can’t win the oscar. Cars could’ve
won both, but that just didn’t happen. Remember that each movie had a fair shot.

I was hoping for Randy Newman winning best song after
that disappointment, but even that could not be possible with this year’s “Green Oscars”. -_-
And
this movie had that shot, TSS.
One of the main reasons why the Academy did not
choose it was because they usually pull excuses like this when they explain why they chose this movie,
etc.
These Motion Picture Academy organizations always do things like that, after seeing these film nomination
events, year after year; With the “Green Oscars” being no exception.
Truly, in
2004, Finding Nemo could
have also won the Golden Globe nomination for best comedy feature movie. But no, they wanted to scoot it off and
let it to only win the Academy award nomination when there were many out there who said FN should have won that
time.
Do you see what I mean? These things dont happen out of any luck. Its because of the people who choose
to let these kinds of movies win these events in the film industry.
As a side note, I want to point out that this is the first year during which the Oscar
winner for Best Animated Feature and the Annie Award winner for Best Animated Feature were dissimilar (ever since
the former award was introduced as an Academy Award category). With that said, I think John Lasseter can take
consolation from the fact that it was a really, really tight race when it comes to animation in
-
Despite their “loss” (you can’t technically make nominations synonymous with losses, I
think), I still congratulate Pixar for making such a brilliant movie, and hope and pray that they would make even
more great films in the future (bring on Ratatouille!). A big congratulations also
goes to George Miller for winning the award for Happy Feet. Even though I’m not
really that excited about seeing Happy Feet, I still hope that I’ll like it when I
watch it. After all, I never expected George Miller’s Babe and Babe:
Pig in the City to be so great; those movies turned out to be some of the best that I’ve ever
seen.

I’m
quite disappointed that Cars didn’t win, seeing as it’s my second favourite film of all time (Titanic comes
first)… oh well. At least all of its fans know that it was a legendary animated film that will be talked about
for years. ^^ And I haven’t seen Happy Feet yet, but according to responses from my closest friends, I think I
may enjoy it.
i’m not gonna shout.
i’m not gonna
use four-lettered words.
i try to be calm.
i think i just gotta go out of the office and sob for a
while.
