79th Annual Academy Awards

Ya know, I’m still upset that

Cars lost the Oscar to Happy Feet, but I’ve learned to

accept it. I’m not saying that Happy Feet was the better film, but I accept that

Cars didn’t win.

It is ironic how the movie

Cars itself ended up like Lightning McQueen. Neither one of them won the big prize,

but knowing the journey was worth it makes them the real winners.

~~=oP

Look, if you read my previous posts; you will come

to see I have previosuly stated I appluad the crew from Happy feet for trying theyre best. As An Animator myself

I applaud an effort, and I feel that it is great to have ALL of the animation community together… just as it is

here.

But I’m not the only one that feels cheated these days… dont you relize how many films big suited

executives have been poping out mearly for profit??? I’m not saying Happy feet is joining that croud of movies…

but by the presentation thats what it looked like to me. To me, it looked like some random guy who knew nothing

about animation, but had a a couple of computer guys on hand to render the beutifully executed "icey

wonderland" and made a movie. I agree theyre were some cute parts here and there, but nothing too genius, or

clever.

With Animation you can do anything you want. ANYTHING. And the Happy Feet crew choose to make a

movie about a penquin who cant sing. I mean "the whole story plot- to me seem like they could have done so

much more with it; even if it ment the penquins built a rocketship and flew it into space to find the penquin a

new vocal box; that they heard about from the much wiser penquin… the storys ideas were endless.

It’s

“Animation with Imagination” , it’s all part of making not just a good movie but a GREAT movie. You

have to shoot the film to the moon and back, and then once you think you’ve got a good movie on hand thats when

you start over and make it even better. Take a look at Studio Ghiblis work; they have some of the greatest

imaginations of all time and they use it in their film. Or what about Pixars Toy Story, and now they went agenst

the grain. Disney having had some of the greatest Animation eras of all time with Bambi and Snow White, made a

big mistake and fireing John Lassetter, only to have John lassetter prove them wrong… and boy did he ever… if

I ever had to think of an Animated film that had heart it would absoutly be Toy Story. What exactly is the story

behind Happy Feet???

The Cars story? Where would I even begin. How about the death of Joe Rantf? He did

so much for the Animation Commuinity, working on movies people never knew he worked on (Nightmare before

christmas, Corpses bride, The brave little toaster, beauty and the beast) the list goes on forever. Cars did

not lack heart; the very soul of Joe is inside of that movie and that fact takes the

movie Cars to a whole new level… the end of the movie dedication to Joe simply touched my heart on so many

levels… and I’m more than possitive others here will agree full-heartedly.

I dont expect anyone to agree

with me. but this stuff has never been far from the truth. it is the truth and I could never settle for anything

less. I feel it would be appropriate to remember why Pixar’s legacy continues, and why so many people love their

films so much. They are more than a legacy now, They belong to the hearts and souls of everyone who ever enjoyed

their films. and it will always be frozen forever in time.

PV:

Wow, deja vu isn’t it? And besides. Just knowing the fact that Pixar and Cars got nominated is pretty rewarding

enough. I mean, if you get nominated for “Best Animated Film”, that probably means that you are one of

the best, compared to a lot of animation movies out there.

I am

quite aware- as Disney is one of the main perpetrators, what with their endless streams of unnecessary

sequels.

Exellent animation= execs just looking

for money… wow, theres an insight.
But gee, who did the small Aussie animation company get the money from to

make the movie… it wasnt the big business Warner Bros. was it? The company with the money hungry execs? The one

based in Burbank? No surely not.

-_- You know my stance

a) you can’t spell penGuin
b) Pixar chose to do a movie about a stuck up

race-car

Yet thet chose to do a movie about acceptance and the impact of humanity on

the earth… seems a little more logical then Astronaut penguins going to space to find vocal

chords…

Of the 14 Ghibli movies, 5 were

books, 6 were written by Miyazaki and the remaining 3 were written by their directors.

were both books… and Bambi was actually a

lot more gruesome than the hepped up on sugar verson Disney produced.

Seeing as you asked- George Miller had an idea to make

a movie about a tap dancing penguin- much like Lasseter had an idea for a movie about anthromorphic cars-

amazing! It’s a little thing we call imagination…

How about the deaths of Steve Irwin and Nick Enright! Steve did so much for the

evironment and the conservation of wildlife, and Nick Enright was a wonderful playwright. You may not know him,

but he wrote Play Cloudstreet and the Musical The boy from Oz

Just like at the BAFTAs =]

Well, cars was great and Happy Feet was good. And

there really wasn’t really a lesson behind it,so I’d still go with cars :stuck_out_tongue: .This whole "Happy Feet should

have won" thing is really bugging me!

I’m sorry, there really is no argument. No amount of

explaining could make you look outside the box. It seemed you had an answer for everything, which clearly wasnt

nessisary because Almost none of them made sense. when I started talking about studio ghibli your responce was

"Of the 14 Ghibli movies, 5 were books, 6 were written by Miyazaki and the remaining 3 were written by their

directors"??? The Animation within it self is some of the greatest on earth, a blind man would have to be

crazy not to see the beutiful pencil work and painting that goes into every film.

As Happy feet story

goes, you named ONE similartiy, can you name any others? you know beleve it or not John lasstters movie was about

his kids. John’s wife said "John, over the years I have been very supportive of your movie making but…

what about your kids? your going to miss them growing up" So they took a road trip. and during that trip he

saw lots of beautiful specacular sights, and thats when he came up with the ideas…It really is not about the

finish line, but it’s about the jouney… to say cars is about just a dusty old car thats stuck up…well…would

be wrong and Id say you didnt watch the whole movie

Look, the movie Cars means alot to the people here,

and me… I didnt know Joe rantf, but I feel like he’s a good friend of mine. I will always be protective of

this movie and all the others.

P.s I’m very sorry I cant spell Penguin, my wife pointed that out

too

Btw folks, I just read Pixar has about

5-6 Movies in pre-production, and production!!!

Meh, at the end of the day, the Oscars are over and done with now, and it’s

not as though we can change the results by disputing over what happened. Let’s just hope Pixar fairs better next

time, and leave it at that.

Exactly, no use crying over spilt

milk. I respect both movies, and i’m ok with the results
