On the Pixarteers forum,we got on the subject of Holley and Sally,and Konrad mentioned the he didn’t trust Lightning…I’m starting to feel that way too…kinda…I like him in all I just don’t know if he’s mature and loyal enough to stay with Sally…I don’t know…what do you guys think? 
Well… almost ANYONE has the potential to cheat if you want to be technical about it so it’s not 100% impossible I guess. If you’ve got the desire you possibly have the ability- not everyone would go through with it though (And paranoia has wrecked many a relationship- sure he or she has the ability oh paranoid partner, but hey so do YOU. Especially when it’s just not their style to begin with. It isn’t mine really either.). (And being tempted isn’t the same as actually going through with it in any case.).
A major part of the first movie WAS bringing Lightening down to earth and becoming more mature (his views on making it big? Immature and blinding to what he really wanted- true friends and people who cared about him and not just the image.)
True, being with some spy might fulfill some young boyish fantasises (or girlish fantasises for that matter), but only in his head if he’s even ‘into’ that sort of thing to begin with and I think he’s grown and will have grown to be more considerate than that. If he wanted to pursue a different relationship he would hopefully have grown up enough to break up with Sally first. But he’d probably keep what he has because that’s more ‘real’ and is an actual relationship- if he was single? . Sure- Holly is pretty (for a car I guess), but I don’t think he’d cheat it would ruin most of his past character development. Which was to catch up with what was more real and important.
Soooo… I doubt it really. He’s grown and will have grown since the first movie- and even in the trailer he shows foresight into worrying a little about Mater getting blinded by the big lights or not getting what to do in places quite a bit bigger and more dangerous than Radiator Springs.
Plus I kind of think he does love Sally and will hopefully recognise it before doing anything as stupid like that. (He’s more down to earth now.)
Granted that’s not to say even people who love each other can’t make dumb mistakes in that area even years after marriage (say Bob and Helen as a Pixar example). But I doubt it in this movies case.
I kind of doubt they’ll go down that route in any case- though I guess there could be some confusion in that area, though I would like to see both she and Lightning become FRIENDS in some form. (Because you know, hetrosexual people of the opposite sex can ‘just’ be friends after all…plus the partner and the best friend making life difficult for the person they’re both connected to is something I quite like- I’d love Sulley and Celia to become good friends for instance. Even if I also do ship them a little bit in fanon.)
Yeah,that makes sense…I think people (including me) think because Lightning dosen’t have the personality like WALL-E that’s why people think that…

Exactly. I thought he’d have more respect for Sally than to go off with someone he just met, without even the decency to "dump"Sally, or weigh and realize Sally’s better for him.

I really like Holly’s design. I just like the idea of her dating Mater, and Lightning and Sally staying…well, Lightning and Sally.

I don’t see any implications of unfaithfulness on Lightning’s part. What are you referring to?
Who says Holly has to be anyone’s love interest? I seriously doubt that romance will play any real role at all in Cars 2. It just wouldn’t add anything to the story. I can’t imagine Pixar putting Mater into a relationship, or dealing with having one of their characters (Lightning) cheat on a girlfriend. It just doesn’t seem like something that would happen in a Cars film, and would distract too much from the Spy plot.
Yeah, I think you’re probably right.
Well, you never know! I like to think that they stay together though, he is after all a changed car. But there’s always temptation.

I don’t think romance will be the main theme either. But every Pixar film has a couple in it somewhere(FN has only about 2 minutes, though )
Yeah…but It’s going to be some…kinda like in the Incredibles 
I can’t imagine a Pixar film where the protagonist(or one of them) wouldn’t have a gf/bf. That would throw me off.
