Why did they do so little nominees for animated films last year?
They open either three or five slots according to the number of eligible animated films each year.
Most times, there have been only three.
Kinda wish 2010 had five instead, it was a better year for animation.
I agree^^.
I agree, I think Despicable Me, Tangled and possibly Megamind missed out. I dont say that in spite, because TS3, HTTYD and The Illusionist absolutley deserved the slots, it was just a case of having not enough slots because there wasn’t enough films. And then you get fairly poor years like last year, and theres 5 nominees.
It was jsut unfair to the good movies last year. This year wasn’t as good and the have more nominees. I hope they don’t do that for 2013
Again I agree^^.
I was so upset that Tangled didn’t get a nomination, if only they had 5 nomination slots last year.
Can re released films get nominated?
^No
I wanted that too.
Okay, just wondering.
Tangled really did deserve a nomination. Oh well.
As much as it kills me to say this, I don’t really like the “Best Animated Feature” category.
Do you mean you wish the best Animated film should just be nominated for Best Picture^^?
I agree. It is stupid. They’re just saying that an animated movie, no matter how good it is, could never be good enough for best picture.
I agree^, it is pretty sad.
Heres how I see it:
If there are some really good animated features released, they should just get nominated for “Best Picture.” It kind of makes animation feel inferior to live-action. It’s always been treated like that even though the films have been getting more popular over the years. There were some animated films that were better then most live-action movies. I think the category was made because the Academy didn’t want to go through the burden of ruining their image by nominating what they think is a “cartoon” for “Best Picture” against more important live-action movies. Which sounds stupid. Anyway, I think they should get rid of that category and nominate the “Best Animated Film” for “Best Picture”.
I like the best animated feature category. Its not that animated films ar’ent good enough for best picture, its just a category for great animated films. besides, Beauty and the Beast, Up, and Toy Story 3 were good enough to be nominated for best picture, were’nt they?
I read Rango won at the Annie’s
