Academy Awards 2012

Cars 2 sounded fantastic. I’m not just saying it so that Pixar would be nominated for an Oscar for every one of their films, but I really think Cars 2 deserves a sound editing nomination.

Other than that I’m on the bandwagon. The movie was pure popcorn fun, and not Oscar material. I’m hoping Girl with the Dragon Tattoo takes home EVERYTHING. :smiling_imp:

I never really thought about that, but now that you mention it, it did sound fantastic.

I think people are very quick to dismiss the technical catagories like sound mixing and editing, makeup and costume, and special effects.

In my case I don’t dismiss them, but most times, they’re a wild card and hard to predict, so I wait until they’re announced.

I heard some people are predicting Hugo will win Best Picture.

There are chances, but probably The Artist has even more following.

I’ll probably post some predictions on what’ll get nominated and what I think will win. First off, “Best Animated Feature” even though I think they should get rid of that category. My predicted winers will be in Bold.

  1. Rango
  2. The Adventures of Tin Tin
  3. Puss in Boots
  4. Winnie the Pooh

I ink Rio is a stronger runner up than Puss in Boots, but that could go either way.

I personally thought Puss in Boots was better then Rio, but I can understand that getting nominated. Those films I listed are only the nominations rather then rankings.

Didn’t here of that I think. Is it good?

I haven’t seen it yet cause it hasn’t been released here (big surprise), but it’s apparently a really great film.

I’d like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy to be nominated, I thought it was fantastically acted and, dare I say, quite Oscar-baity, and it’s received really good reviews over in the UK where it came out in September.

Yes, I think it has huge chances to be nominated, but probably won’t win.

I’ve heard wonderful things about it, and I personally am very excited to see it. It won’t be around where I live for another couple weeks. The movie theatre in my town would rather show movies like Zookeeper and Harold and Kumar. :unamused:

i don’t no much about the movie theater in my new town, only gonw their a few times since moving here. But since I plan ob moving after college, don’t need to know much about it.

That makes one think, doesn’t it?

Our local theatre shows about 6 films a time; anything indepedant or last months release, then its off to the city I go

Yeah, really. I was born 100 years too late.

My local theatre shows about 8-10 movies, doesn’t include the 3D versions.

Ooh, Golden Globe nominations are up! Lots for The Help and The Artist, which makes me happy
