Anime?

My brother is really sad. The finale of Prince of Tennis shall be coming up shortly. He was so into that show and it has changed him into a different person.

TSS: I feel his pain. Blood+ is about to finish up and I feel like I’m losing a friend. It was the thing I looked forward to after a long saturday work shift.

Bleach is one of the very very few anime shows they still play on TV here. The only shows they play on TV anymore are Pokemon [the new series that I really hate], Bleach, and Death Note. It’s kind of sad. =/

Very sad. The TV industry just isn’t good anymore.

Last time I checked Naruto and DBZ still had airtime…

JesusFreak: Yea, you’re right there, there only about a handful of morally, intelligently, entertaining TV shows out now…shame

I have a dislike for most anime these days (despite how much I used to love it), as a number of conventions popular in anime, especially regarding girls, really rub me the wrong way. There are some exceptions though:

The Films of Studio Ghibli

No explanation needed.

Films from Satoshi Kon

Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, and above all, Millenium Actress which is one of, if not my favorite anime films of all time. Don’t be turned off by its synopsis – it’s not a movie I thought I would like, but I’m glad to have seen it.

Space Battleship Yamato

This series launched what became known as “The Golden Age of Anime” in 1974. I remember growing up watching it when it was dubbed as “Star Blazers” for American audiences, and when I returned to it years later, what started out as a guilty pleasure became an obsession and honest love the more I delved into it. While most people are only aware of the three 26-episode television series, the real quality is in several of the theatrical movies which are superb.

Plus, these series have probably the best music ever written for Japanese animation. Seriously. Especially if you’re interested in 70s-style orchestrations.

Oh, anime! I love anime.

Shows I watch:
Azumanga Daioh
Anything by Studio Ghibli
Sonic X
One Piece (Beyond Awesome)
Detective Conan/Case Closed
Haibane Renmei
Invader ZIm (Not really anime, but highly influenced by it)
Saint Tail
Cowboy Bebop
Bubblegum Crisis
Speed Racer (GO SPEED RACER, GO)
Pokemon (First Season and Mystery Dungeon only)

Yay!

So hey, is anyone going to Acen this year?

What is Acen Haunt?

The Midwest Anime convention. It happens in Chicago

gasp I MUST GO THERE.

Oh I see. I would go there, but it is kinda too far for me. NOt to mention I am kinda busy with school too.

JF–Yep =[

Pixfan–Sorry, I forgot Naruto. ><

GooseGirl-- I only liked the 1st and 2nd season of Pokemon. The new episodes with Dawn are terrible. I hate that they changed all of the VAs.

A lot of anime episodes are on there. All of the Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh eps are, I know for sure.

I watched an episode of Prince of Tennis on there the other day XD I think they have a good majority of that series too.

And in other news, my cosplay costume is completely done. =] Well, sort of. I still have to touch up my wig. =]

Thought I had replied in this…ah well…

Wasn’t so much into Anime the early years, but like many, Studio Ghibli got me into it. From there I enjoyed the Patlabor movies, and a friend got me into Full Metal Alchemist. Recently took interest into the Death Note series and hooked.

Oh man. Code Geass is coming on CN and I’m extra excited. I’ll be ragingly disappointed it Lulu’s voice actor is bad, but I’ll be re-watching the subbed anyways.
But yeah guys watch it. It’s alarmingly lanky, anarchistic good-times.

Urgh, we don’t get any good anime here anymore. I really miss it. YTV had so many good shows back when I was in grade school. My sister and I would always watch Pokemon, Digimon and Yu-Gi-Oh after school.

I watched Death Note once, but got confused, haha. Maybe if I have time, I’ll watch it from the beginning sometime.

You really should. It’s a great show. But I agree with you. You need to watch that one from the beginning. It twists radicially. Hopefully you didn’t spoil anything for yourself with what you already watched.

I just started watching an anime called ‘Azumanga Daioh.’ It’s insanely hilarious. I love it. =]

Haunt–Haha, I don’t think I did. I had no idea what was going on. Plus it was about 12 in the morning when I watched it, haha.

JF–One of my very good friends has all of the Azumanga Daioh episodes on DVD. She loves it. XD

That show is cat plushies wrapped in school girl skirts wrappd in madness. I adore that show.
