I love Lotso but this really has to do less with the character and more with the genius behind PIXAR to place him in the [spoil]villain’s role[/spoil] for Toy Story 3. I think it’s an amazing contrast in type casting and can’t wait to see his turn in the film.
I also got my friend’s baby a Lots-O-Huggin bear for his first birthday.
He’s definately an interesting character, and, already knowing the plot, I can tell you that [spoil]he is probably one of Pixar’s most cruel villians[/spoil]. Suffice to say, I’m keeping a close eye on him when I see TS3.
The fact that he’s an old idea that’s been revived by Pixar already has me intrigued. He is also just a loveable character to begin with, basically an extra-cute Teddy Bear from the 80’s who smells like strawberries.
The one thing that I’m not so sure about is his similarities to Stinky Pete. They both appear to be nice old, veteran toys with high authority, and a different side of them is shown (highly likely) when the other toys want to escape, revealing a sad backstory. I mean, Pixar’s taken a lot from Toy Story 2, which is a good thing, but I hope Lotso is more than it seems…Since Pixar has revealed very little about Lotso’s final intentions, I have hope.
Let me start by saying that I love Lotso. And this is from a girl who has barely read any spoilers except for his role as the [spoil] main villain[/spoil] for TS3. I went out and bought the TSC Lotso, he’s my background on numerous media outlets, and I just love the guy to death. Seriously.
But I agree with you 100% Dinoco. [spoil]That’s one of the main gripes I have about TS3 - it feels like they’re rehashing the story line that Stinky Pete had. I’m sure there are some differences, but nice older toys turning evil? I’ve seen it before, Pixar. [/spoil]
I definitely plan on bringing my TSC Lotso with me to the theater though, so it should be interesting seeing kids reactions once the movie is over.
I really don’t know enough about the character yet to judge whether or not I like him. I’ve seen one Toy Story 3 trailer, probably several months ago now, and that’s about it so aside from the fact that he’s both cute and the villain, I am clueless as to what his character is going to turn out like. I can’t help but be very intrigued, though!
That’s pretty much my opinion too. The first time I saw Lotso, I thought he looked perfectly cute and all, but it was learning more about his particular character arc which got me really interested in him. I’m looking forward to seeing the stawberry-scented ursine in action.
A quick question about Lotso - am I right in thinking he was inspired by the Care Bears? Presumably some sort of novelty toy from the 1980s, judging by this faux commercial.
I think he is one of Pixar’s most well developed [spoil]villains[/spoil]. His motivations are very clear, and sometimes I even felt sympathetic for him. But he really is [spoil]incredibly evil, moreso than Stinky Pete and almost every other Pixar villain[/spoil].
He’s so cute! I especially love the fake commerical for him Pixar put on YouTube under the guise of an 80s toy commercial uploader. It’s too bad he’s the villain.
In two minds about him, at forst he seeemed like a arecylced version of Stinky Pete, but with the more little clips he looks more innertresting, so i’l have to wait and see, i’d imagine i’d like him though in due time.
Though Lotso is the [spoil]main villain[/spoil] in the movie, personally,[spoil] I just have to disagree how he ended up. I know that Pixar have their reason by putting him in front of the truck, but I think it’s too cruel for him.[/spoil]
Again, (most) people don’t know the toys are alive anyways… [spoil]that’s just the truck driver’s ironic way of paying tribute to one of his favorite toys.[/spoil]
[spoil]Well I can agree with that. Lotso did need love (and Woody and Buzz showed him some by saving him when he didn’t deserve it), but I would have to think that he had gotten so hardened and bitter over the years that he couldn’t be reached anymore. He had kind of a damaged perspective of things now and would still be deceitful, which his betrayal of the toys really shows.[/spoil]
As for the topic, I am a fan of Lotso [spoil]but I still can’t deny that he was evil in the film.[/spoil]
