By the way, has anyone ever had horrible pancake-flipping experiences?
Not me. I was pretty good at flipping my own. However, I have only flipped twice in my life. ![]()
I flip my pancakes with a spatula - I’m not daring enough to try and flip it just with the fry pan.
Oh, man, I can’t even do it with a spatula. I think my right hand is good for everything but flipping pancakes…but it can flip panckaes on top of another one that’s still cooking!
lol
I’m pretty good at pancake flipping.
It’s just the rest of the pancake-making process that I have a problem with. ![]()
We just got this new book called “Anyone Can Cook” (the Home&Garden version, lol) and I’ve been cooking for my mom every week.
I’m a pretty terrible prep cook and still learning the ropes. I’m REALLY bad at chopping and slicing, probably 'cuz she doesn’t like it when I do it directly on her cutting board. (What’s the use of the thing anyway)
I’ve gotten my hands dirtied a bit learning how to seed tomatoes and mince garlic, I didn’t know how sticky that stuff was, and chop a leek. Needless to say my cut sizes are crud.
But anyway, she’s loved the dishes I’ve made, but for some reason they don’t taste that great to me. After all the effort and hours I put into these meals, to me they range from bland, to downright disgusting but so far the rest of my family enjoyed them.
I guess that makes me the ultimate picky eater. I’m my own Anton Ego. :\
The making part of pancakes aren’t hard for me. NO it is more along the lines of getting it to that perfect golden, light brownish color is difficult.
TW: Oh, you too? xD
TSS: Oh, you too? xDDD
The Wandering - Ha-ha. You’re your own harshest critic. It sounds as if you’re enjoying the book, though. ![]()
So there really is a book entitled Anyone Can Cook? I’ll have to look for that…
The only thing I’ve ever liked about cooking, besides baking cookies, is chopping various vegetables. I absolutely lavish in the art of it – it’s amazing.

I made jello last night. The wiered thing was, it was perfect. Perfect texture, perfect taste, but the only problem was, I didn’t make enough.
You can never have enough Jell-O. xD
I can cook I guess. mostly Ramen though…but I made Pancakes before and soup…lol
I made some chicken wings for a party yesterday. It was kinda good.
What made it not perfect, TSS?
Not reallt. I said kinda good. It could’ve been a little more spicy.
Ever since I read Fast Food Nation, I’ve been starved into needing to cook for myself to avoid artificial ingredients and MSG. That book scarred me, man.
So I watch Alton Brown on Food Network’s Good Eats.
Does anybody watch that show? Everything’s fresh (even the sausages, and that’s unheard of)! There’s a man who definitely agrees with the slogan “Anyone Can Cook.”
Who wants to eat mechanically separated pork and chicken mixed in 50-foot vats that contain fecal matter anyway?

I told you – scarred!
Oh yeah, I love that show Good EAts. I really love how he gets the down right details of everything. And Welcome to PIxar Planet Funnygirl.
Dude, I used to watch that show religiously. Heck, “way back when” one of my favorite channels was Food Network – watched it day and night, night and day.
Yeah, Alton Brown’s show was the best, plus… he is downright hilarious… which is precisely why I watched it so much. Emeril Live, Oliver’s Twist (I think that was the name of Jamie Oliver’s show), and Iron Chef were all great programs, as well. It’s a pity that most of the best shows are slinking into the shadows, if they haven’t done so already… (sigh)
In any case, welcome to the boards, FunnyGirl! ![]()

I tried making his brownies once, but thanks to WAL-MART and Wickedpedia, they were sooo bitterrRRR!
