Anyone can cook... Right?!

Deserts? Hmm. Let me see…

Well, I attempted to freeze some soda so as to make popsicles, but I soon found out that soda…doesn’t really freeze too well.
Now is that sad or what? I can’t even freeze anything! The pitifulness of it is humiliating.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Haha! I know the feeling…

Probably the only successful desert I have ever made was indeed popsicle-etes. Imagine these like mini popscicles.

For some reason, I got a really crude image in my head when you said “popsicle-etes”… Oh man, I could hit myself. :stuck_out_tongue:  (snigger)

That’s what my mom does. Ahhhhh, the 21st century!

I’m fairly lucky I’ve gotten away with the amount of burns I’ve had. I often try to run with something hot to get it from the microwave/oven to the table…with my bare hands. Works some of the time… :unamused:

Desserts: never try Alaskan pie. It involves ice cream that you spread around on top of the cake, then put it in the oven. You have to get the cake warm, and not have the Ice Cream melt. Disaster when I tried it.

Just about the only dessert I can make right is chocolate chip cookies! :stuck_out_tongue:

Mitch - I tried to freeze soda once to make ice cubes. The idea is that you put the ice cubes into the soda (Pepsi, Coke, etc.) . The soda freezed about half-way. The rest of it was just a watery mess.

Gasduude - I learned that from my mother… surprise.

Bill - Ahh – ice cubes! So that’s the secret! Heheh… Thanks for the tip!

I have made profiteroles filled with coffee cream and covered in melted chocolate, and I didn’t actually make any mistakes, for once!

Well, apart from not actually bringing the ingredients into school and being told off…But that’s besides the point. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a pretty fair chef… my parents are always calling home just before they get off of work and asking me to “start” dinner. However, “start dinner” turns into “finish dinner,” and so I cook dinner a lot of the time, unless I’m headed to church or work. I enjoy cooking, and as long as the recipe has ingredients I’m familiar with, and techniques that aren’t too difficult, I do pretty well in the kitchen.

I also like to bake, though I don’t get to do it often. I like to experiment with things, like make red white and blue rice krispies treats, or try ambitious things, like this sweet bread recipe that we have in my family that takes something like 6 hours to make.

KE - You mean “cooking” and “baking” are two different things? Man, am I behind in this field… (snigger) :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course they’re different! Now just give me a while to figure out just how to define the two… :stuck_out_tongue:

I just generalize them: using the stove and/or what you do for dinner = cooking, using the oven and/or what you do for “special occasions” (cake, cookies, brownies, pies) = baking

Ohhh – I see now! Heheh. And all along I thought that both terms meant the same thing. I’m so stupid.

Thanks for the explaination, KE! (snigger)

– Mitch

Oh, I won’t ask for it then. :unamused:

I’m not very good at all. And being allergic to prepackage things is a bit problematic, also I multitask all the time(even when I really shouldn’t) so usually I just take what ever it is out, especially after this one incedent. One of the six things that I’ll eat is sandwichs and it has to be toasted because I can’t have wheat or anything with gluten(such as spelt) so my mom has to make rice bread which has to be frozen otherwise it gets dry within and hour or so. Well since it’s cut by hand we have to use a sandwich grittle for any bread, and we always use one with removeable plates because it washes more easily. Well this time I had to make my own sandwiches and put the plates in but when ever I do that I’d usually plug the thing in and then put the plates in(I don’t know why) and this time I forgot to put the plates in because… well…O.K. I won’t try to hide it there was a very neat looking gap in the paint on the wall I was facing. Well a bit later I felt really weird, but my blood pressure is abit below average so I thought it was just too warm and then my mom came in and noticed that something was burning(I had been having allergy problems and was stil looking at the paint gap so I was in an paintless place of my own at the time), it turned out the plastic that hold the plates in plact had melted and the toaster litrally died of neglagence. We had to open every window and the back door and I had to go up stairs(accidents happen but after that I thought it would be best if I stayed far away from the “ground zero” as such). Then when all the fumes were gone my mom toasted my sandwiches on a frying pan, and a while later we went to get a new toasting machine, and I just quoted one line of dialogue from my favourite show that actually airs on domestic T.V. The line was “well you can’t spell shame without M-E”
(And I never did work out why exactly those snadwiches tasted funny)

MiniChuChan - That’s an unfortunate cooking experience! Although entertaining…

As for myself, I’m a decent cook. I don’t really cook very often but I could survive by myself for quite a while. I really like cooking meals because it makes you feel very accomplished!

But I really like the process of arranging and decorating food. I don’t really like baking, but I love to decorate baked goods, especially cupcakes! Here are a few I did not too long ago.

JamieLew - Hmm, you’re making me hungry… :stuck_out_tongue:

As Hiemlich would say JamieLew, “OHHH! CUPCAKES!!! Hey, let me help you to finish it!”

Hahahaha, go ahead, have some!
I wish I could make you all cupcakes. I love to decorate them but I rarely have a reason to make them!

If you can make the cupcakes Pixar themed, that would be cool.

Hmmm I’ll have to try that… good idea!

Well, you are welcome! YOu can start with a TI themed Cupcake.
