Anyone Collect "The Art Of" Books?

Idk I don’t check that a lot on my profila haha and I guess I have Monsters U already so I’ll probably get something a little different.

I have The Art of Up, The Art of Monsters University, and uhh two non-Pixar ones. I rather like the ones that have a lot of reading in 'em, a lot of backstory, a lot of explaining, like in The Art of Up. Any similar ones to that?

I am very much interested in owning Art of Brave! All the early character designs are so fascinating to look at.

The Art of Brave? Oh man, I am so jealous right now! What I really want are the ones for Monsters University, Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WALL-E, and Up!

I’m also thinking about getting me some of those 'Art of" postcards.

I wish that I had the whole collection.

Same. Too bad most of the early ones are now tough to find :frowning:

I have the artbooks for Toy Story 3, Brave, Ratatouille, and Up. They’re all pretty good, though sometimes I wish they’d go into more detail about the development process (Brave in particular seems to completely avoid explaining story changes, probably because of Brenda Chapman’s exit). I also own To Infinity and Beyond which isn’t an art book but does contain several pieces of art for Pixar’s first 7 films, as well as providing some interesting history.

Haven’t you looked online at the Disney Store yet? They still have those–in the Book Bin section.

I have the A Bug’s Life one, but it’s falling apart.

^How long have you had it?

Like a year and half. But it was a gift from a friend, it’s much older than that.

If I wanted to collect any more “Art of” books, I’d get Monsters University. Or The Incredibles. Probably one for Ratatouille. Most likely I would want one for WALL-E.

The first on my list to get is WALL-E, but I’d also really like Monsters, Inc., Monsters University, and Ratatouille.

I wonder how much a complete set would cost.

I look on DisneyStire.com, and it costs $40 for each “Art of” book. Therefore, to try and get all 14 books (individual Pixar films, that is) would probably cost about $560.

I’m assuming it’s much cheaper if one buys them off of Amazon.

That’s because of all the sales on Amazon. (Seems like we both have the same favorite Pixar film, and we both want the “Art of” book for it.) Well there was one about the short films, but that would be difficult to find.

But I do love that 25th anniversary edition I’ve got right now. Why? It’s got a little bit of everything, including color scripts for feature and short films, plus concepts of the worlds. And also, when I met Michael Comet, he signed it!

If I really like a movie, I make a point of getting the associated art book.
I’m still building my collection, but it’s complicated, since some of the ones I am considering purchasing are out of print.

This is my current list of art books:

The Incredibles
WALL-E
Brave

Wreck-It Ralph
Frozen

Monsters Vs Aliens
How To Train Your Dragon
The Croods

Coraline
Paranorman
Epic
