Are you excited for the sequel?

It doesn’t interest me at all except for the fact it’s made by Pixar. If it has a great story, then swell. Right now, Cars has been at the bottom of my Pixar list, due to (a) the subject of cars/racing, (b) its jokes have never been the least bit successful with me (they’re borderline obnoxious, actually), and (c) I’m not crazy about the characters save for Doc Hudson and Guido/Luigi. Plus, the pop country music… ugh. On the topic of cars and such, I usually adore when Pixar animates something that’s, well, inanimate. And you can easily see faces on cars in real life, so that’s an intriguing concept. But the animation just doesn’t work for me in this film. I’m not saying it’s distracting, but it definitely could have had more of an effect on me. For example, I can’t pick out a favorite moment of animation from Cars, because none exist; for other Pixar films, there are plenty little subtleties.

Hummm, that’s too bad…more for us Cars fans then… :stuck_out_tongue:. I think you really missed the point of the movie like most people who don’t like Cars do…but oh well…

I am very excited to see Cars 2. This will be the first movie my son will see on the big screen. We almost took him to see Tangled, but I wanted to hold out for a Pixar flick.

Oh yes i am I love cars well not the movie but you know cars but yeah that too , Highways, roads, city lights and well it’s all so AWESOME

I can’t wait for Cars two, like actually so excited. I hate how people complain about Cars getting a sequel but I don’t see why not. Cars is a great film and from the sound of it Cars 2 is going to be just as good  x

^ Or better. :sunglasses:

I can’t really say that I’m anticipating Cars 2 anywhere near as much as Toy Story 3. I wouldn’t want it to be another case of judging ahead of time by the trailers (cause Pixar often proves us wrong by how good the story is), but I just find the whole spy parody aspect to be a pretty random way to go after the original film. To bring up what xCarsLuverx said earlier, I know that Mater is a really popular character, but to be honest I think Lightning McQueen is what made the original since it was really his story. I still kind of think that the first Cars isn’t exactly one of Pixar’s strongest films, but I tend to appreciate it more and more for Lightning’s character, and the “slow pace” some people complain about I think only adds to the feeling of being stuck in a town and progressively becoming closer to the people there, which I’m sure was essential to the story. If you think about it the whole existence of the Cars universe was really rooted in not only John Lasseter’s love of cars, but the theme of slowing down in life that the original film had. Granted, it’s still a very illogical cartoonish world of talking cars where you could do anything you wanted, but just because you can does it always make sense story/character wise? It’s one thing for Mater’s Tall Tales to be amusing little shorts, but with Cars 2 you would almost think Mater was telling Lightning an overextended story about being a spy. Again, I think I’m just having difficulty seeing how a spy themed sequel fits well with the original (funny thing is, Toy Story 3 had the theme of those prison escape movies that the first two didn’t have).

I also saw the teaser for Cars 2 when I bought Toy Story 3 on Blu-Ray, and I actually found it to be Pixar’s weakest teaser ever. It’s not really up there with all their wonderful teasers for A Bug’s Life, Monsters Inc., The Incredibles or Up. But it’s just a teaser.

Flik-E:I agree with some of your points but wow you’re seriously reviewing a Teaser trailer?

Well I’m not really reviewing it in relation to the film, but just saying that my initial impression was that it felt like it was lacking that special “something” that I get from seeing Pixar’s first teaser. You can’t really judge the film by a teaser because the teasers have no footage of the film (I actually made that mistake with the Ratatouille teaser cause I couldn’t find it’s premise interesting, only to find that it was a surprisingly good film that I regret missing out on before). When the trailers come out and we start seeing real footage it can be easier to make reviews, but even then we shouldn’t make judgments right away. I just think it’s a little easier to be skeptical this time, and I think for good reasons than being skeptical about an entirely new movie you don’t know anything about yet.

And Pixar’s teasers have always been a thing all their own, so even if I thought one of them felt weak the film wouldn’t have anything to do with it.

Flik-e, the full trailer is already out.

I know. I’ve seen it already.

I see what you mean. I’m not really sure why they’re making a sequel to Cars, or MI for that matter. But I’ll still see it, and I think it looks good.

Flik-E:But I fail to see how you can compare trailers…that dosen’t make much sense…to me at least…

Eh, don’t worry about it. The film’s really the important thing, not the trailer.

I think he just meant it didn’t grab hold of him like the others did, not judging the film. Just the trailer. Personally, the Ratatouille and Incredibles teasers didn’t stick with me until after viewing the movies, and they’re two of my favorites. But, I can see why you found this one underwhelming. I liked it, though.

I’m uber excited. I write the # of days left on my hand every day! im frantic about if Sally will be in it or not. On the Cras official website, included in the few screenshots for casr 2 is a picture of the purple female car. She is listed as a main character, and this could be good or bad. She could be competion for SAlly…OR…sniff snif a replacement for Sally. But Bonnie Hunt is listed for playing Sally in cars 2.

Sal-Queen: The purple car’s name is Holly, and she is apperently the love interest for Mater. Or so we’ve heard.

I hope she is. XD

I’m somewhat excited, I haven’t seen the original movie in years so i really don’t know how this is all going down. But, I’ll intend to see it!

I want to see how RS will look and how this whole relationship drama pans out…
