Okey Doke kids! Time for a new round of summer Jamz! As promised, today is the start of June’s theme. And that theme is: The Critters of Pixar!
This month we celebrate the fluffy stars of Pixar via sketches and doodles. I waited until the US release of UP to start the summer off, seeing as it had a sizable cast of the furred and feathered. So whatever you draw this Jam should have at least one animal character. As usual, you can cross films if you like. Oh, and characters from the short films are more than welcome as well.
The only gray area I’m having a hard time with are the characters from MI. Kind of tricky, since they’re neither humans nor legitimate critters. Of course we can’t just kick them out on a technicality, so yes, monsters count for this one.

Oh! And I might add that if people really want to get that community spirit going we should start up some collabs. What do you say?
TDIT: Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it! I like keeping things simple right now, but I’ll definitely work on something more complex in the future.

Oohh, I would be more than excited to do a collab!! If someone would do the drawing I would gladly do the line art and shading. It will help me get my feet wet with working digitally (line art, coloring and shading), and I would love to work with one of you guys’ drawings!
Or we could do it the other way around. If anyone wants to collab with me send me a PM or something. I’m pretty sure that’s how I want to do this Art Jam.
I’m apologizing ahead of time for the double post, but I just wanted to update and say that Hannahmation and I will be doing a collab for June’s art jam. We already have an idea, now we just need to get working on it.

Ive got so many other things going on but I will try to squeeze this one in. I’ve already started a layout, I’m just hoping it comes out the way I hope…
You mean for me to do? So I can do two collabs? Hannahmation will be doing the drawing for our collab and I’ll be doing the line art, coloring and shading.
Even if you wanted to give me something to work on while I wait for Hannah’s, I would more than love that! Like I said, I have a feeling all this collab stuff is really going to help me get better and more confident about working with digital coloring.

Ooh, I like the sounds of this one! Nice idea, Haunt! I’ll try and do something for it by the end of the month and get back into my ‘art groove’ (not that I had one in the first place. )
Nice sketch, Mitch! It took me a minute or two to realise who Peck was (I seriously questioned my level of Pixar fandom for a moment there ) but he looks great! I especially like the one where he’s got his mouth wide open, he looks so happy. They’re simple sketches but they really, really flow and Peck has a lovely feathery look to him. He looks so sweet!

But this is me and Hannahmation’s collab for June’s ArtJam: Dug and his Nemo squeaky toy!! Gosh, she did such a great job on the line art, and my coloring is absolutely a piece of crap. <8C You’ll have to forgive me, Hannahmation… Not to say I didn’t work hard on it; I just had no idea how to do digital fur. Plus I’ve finally realized just how much I need a tablet… sigh
Nothing to forgive. I think Dug looks cute! I say it looks pretty good, especially for having no idea how to do digital fur! It was fun working with you.
Sweet collaboration, red and Hannahmation! The idea’s really funny (poor Nemo! ), the lineart’s great and the colouring in is very good considering how difficult fur is. I know I couldn’t do any better! Great work guys.

Bah, silly technology! I had a cute “end of the theme” banner to put up, but then the psd file corrupted. So just pretend there’s a little doodle of Remy and a cake that says ‘thanks’.
So yeah, thus end June’s Critter theme! Thank you everybody who participate and commented on entries. Good stuff this round.
So onwards to the next theme. It’s time for a little music I think.
July’s theme is Lyrics! Draw a Pixar character or characters (holy crap, pixar boy band!) singing a song. Lyrics have to be included somewhere in the picture. Cool points to those of you who want to tackle instrument too!
Double cool points if you can keep the song choice in character, but OoC pictures would be fun too.
Let’s try to beat the last theme’s participation level in both single artists and collabs.
