Art Jamz!

Pixfan, it looks really incredible. Nice work! All of the characters are nicely and well drawn.

Pixfan: That’s fantastic! Couldn’t have asked for a better closing image than that. Very nice!
And don’t worry about getting it in after the fact. It’s not so much a deadline as it is an introduction to the next theme.

That’s such a cool drawing, Pixfan! I love the style in which you draw Pixar characters- it’s very unique and yet at the same time it’s obvious who the characters are. The jackalope has to be my favourite though, you’ve got his expression spot on. Great work!

Cool theme, Haunt! Maybe this is just what I need to get me motivated and doing artwork again.

Really cool drawing, Pixfan! I like your take on the characters. You have a neat style. The bird from For the Birds is my favorite.

This next theme sounds fun! I’ll have to start thinking of ideas.

Awesome job Pixfan, really great work. I love how little ol’ Russell is riding Sulley (who I think you drew the best!). I love crossover stuff like this, it’s pretty cool.

Regarding Pixfan’s artwork.

First thing’s first, I have seen many great pieces of artwork, so my opinions would naturally seem a little harsher than the average lot. However, it is my professional view, so I hope you would take them as constructive criticisms.

Well, I must say that I feel sorry for Sulley (hey, it rhymes!), having being rode on by Russell like that, who you’ve managed to pull it off quite well, but that’s because you have his eyes closed, which is pretty easy to draw (closed eyes, that is). Other than that, he looks just fine and just adorable, too, in terms of the drawing style you used on him.

My biggest complain, however, is Sulley. He looks okay, but there’s just something about his eyes that don’t make me feel Sulley-ish. But, Sulley, to me, is a very tough character to depict, so I think you’ve done a pretty swell job already, especially with his fur (though his body structure might need some work). Keep it up and I hope to see more cool artwork from this thread.

Heh, wow…all this attention…:open_mouth:

Haunt: Thanx! Heh, and yea I guess so…

lizardgirl: Thanx. Creating my own style has been one of my many goals when drawing Pixar characters, good to know it’s showing!

Hannahmation: Same with lizardgirl, thanx!

ffdude1906: Haha thanx, and me too.

Gemini: First off, I’d like to welcome you to Pixar Planet!!

Of course, I like a healthy dose of constructive criticism. Most of the time nobody’s harsher on my work than myself anyway.

But first I will say this, this was NOT my best work for multiple reasons:

-The majority of these characters (with the exception of Sulley and Remy), I’ve drawn for the first time. With that being said I used minimal reference at that.

(I had Russel’s eyes open at first, but his eyes are so small as it is I decided to just close them. 8D )

-This was kinda rushed compared to time I usually take with multi-character pieces.

-This was just for fun, so I didn’t waste time nit-picking at things I could’ve fixed.

In regards to Sulley, I think most of the points you made lean more towards the style I draw in. Unlike the others I’ve practiced drawing him before and decided to put my own spin on him this time. Body structure? Eh, maybe , that might be because things seem a little unclear (due to the fact I truly didn’t finish it).

Overall I agree with the points you’ve made and hope to continue to improve…:-D)

Didn’t mean to suck up this thread people…my bad.

Can’t wait to see what every one does for this jam!

I must say, little_chef_eva09 and Pixfan, good job, guys! Both of you guys drew really cute drawings there. (Pixfan: Poor Sulley, XD)

I like your sketches of Peck, Mitch! Especially with his mouth open like he’s roaring (or rather, squawking) with laughter.

Hey guys! Sorry I’m not around keep this thread buoyant. I’m having one heck of a busy summer. :unamused:
I’ve got my sketch mostly done. How are yours going?

Man alive! I’ve been gone practically all month! Sory folks. I’ve had a far busier summer than anticipated.
Well, it seems as though the jamz have run their course here at PP. Is it the summer schedules? The themes? Lol, is it my shoddy upkeep of the thread? Or perhaps you guys are like me and are in the middle of a summer slump

Well, what ever the case, I will simply have to think up new games for our artistically inclined. In the mean time, I’ll do maybe one or two more themes for the summer, including a new one this weekend. And don’t forget, even the simplest doodles counts, so if you have some leftovers from the previous themes post 'em up!

Peace out
~Haunt~

For me, I’m definitely feeling the summer slump. 8C It’s not just in art… it’s in writing, too.

I’ve been busy, too; so I’m sure you’re not the only one who has had this problem Haunt.

little chef

You’re not alone. I’m in the middle of a summer slump too and I’ve been busy with other things. I should really start up drawing regularly again though.

Well, I’ve just started sketching my entry for this Art Jam as, like others, I’ve been busy lately but although it’ll probably be too late I’ll complete it anyway. Though I do love the Art Jamz and I look forward to hearing about the next theme, Haunt!

Sorry about the tardiness of the new theme. It’ll be out this week. My summer continues to be unexpectedly full ^^;

Okie dokie folks! It’s time for another art jam! This time I’m running things slightly different. I’m relying on you guys to come up with the themes. I thought maybe it’d be a better way for the artist community to get together.
So I asked Violet Parr if she’d like to be the first, and she kindly agreed. She’s been an absolute delight to have around the forums, so I knew she’d come up with a good one.
So the theme today is now “First Meetings.” This is a chance to come up with your own ideas of how pixar characters would meet. You could recapture a movie scene, or maybe come up with how characters met prior to. You could have characters from different movies meet, or even characters from outside the pixar universe.
Remember, you have to be the artist, and there has to be at least one pixar character. Other than that, the day is yours. Have fun guys.

(And don’t forget to thank VP for the great idea  )

Aww… thanks Haunt  ! You’re a great friend, yourself. I hope you can get more people to join this time. Just wondering, when do we post our art?

I’m so on it! I’ll need a bit of help getting a source image for the one I can think of now (gee, I bet you’re all wondering what it’s gonna be, right? RIGHT?) but count me in! I’ve gotten a bit better, and I’m more interested in drawing now, so I have no excuse to not participate!

Cool theme, Violet Parr! I’ll probably only have time to do a simple sketch, but I’ll be sure to participate.

My gosh, this month’s theme looks right up my alley! My last two works would technically qualify (War of the Machines and Remy & Russell), but I’ll see if I could turn out a new piece by the end of the month over the holidays.

Just so you guys know. I’ll probably run this theme until mid September, so don’t feel rushed to get it in before the 31st.

Violet Parr: Thanks! And I hope so too.
You can post when ever you feel like, and as many times as you wish.

ffdude1906: Awesome dude! Look forward to it.

Hannahmation: Your work is always welcome here

thedriveintheatre: Glad to hear it. Can’t wait to see what you post!
