I have the privilage to live near a racetrack that hosts NASCAR. Every year we have the town full with people to see the race and It’s a normal occurance to see the the trucks carrying the cars of drivers, and even see one downtown!
But sadly I haven’t been to a NASCAR race since my father took me as a child.
My dad knows a car owner in the nationwide series (as a stated NASCAR’s college bball) so in 2006 I got to go into the pits, that was my first race. I met several drivers that day and watched the race n a pit box (not a nice one mind you they are a small team).
There is a driver name Clint Bowyer. I gave him a Jeff Gordon car to sign (idk why I got his stuff I don’t care for him) then he said “You want me to sign a Gordon car?” He told me he’ll hook me up and gave me a cap of his own and signed i. Very cool.
Wow Dale Earnhardt was mine too until his death (still and forver will be my hero) I remeber the day he died too I just couldn’t believe it (may sound unmanly but I balled my eyes out when the ait was said he died). I felt bad for my father though he had cheered for Dale since day one of his career.
Tony Stewart (who I have liked since he came into cup) then became my favorite driver though it took me months to decide that and even to decide if I’d even watch anymore.
Awww, that is so sad! Back when I was little I had a babysitter and her husband was a heavy Earnhardt fan. He had posters, gloves, merchandise, the whole deal. Some of it was even in glass cases and he went to a race in Florida, the Daytona I’m pretty sure.
Ohmygosh, I’d love to surf and ballroom dance! Especially ballroom dancing. So romantic I really want to take surf lessons, but like you said, it looks really difficult! I’d be falling all over the place
I think you are a younger version of my mother. Strange I know, but she raves about the 18th century and wishes she lived back then. I would LOVE to where the dresses back then too but I’m more of a 50’s girl myself. If I could go back in time, that’s when I would want to be a teenager.
lol! Your comment is so funny, because I watched an episode of the last episode of The Office, and one of the characters said 'What decade would you want to be a teenager?"
And that’s exactly what you answered in your last sentence!
Most girls from our generation hate dresses, except for prom and such. I LOVE them! I like dresses in the 50s too!
I loooove dresses. I would wear a dress everyday if I could. They’re just so flowy and pretty and I love being a princess I usually don’t like shopping, but if it’s dress shopping I could go any day.
I used to wear just plain old T-shirts and jeans all the time, but I realized I felt more like myself in a dress or skirt, so last summer I set aside quite a bit of my earnings for vintage dresses and skirts from Etsy and now I have dozens of them. Under 100 but over 50. The only bad thing is that I can’t wear a lot of the dresses in winter: they’re a little short and I don’t have any sweater tights! Some of my dresses are quite old, like grandma old, but I wish I had some more “housewife” type dresses from the '40s and '60s.
My “realistic” aspirations for myself are to become an art teacher in the city of Chicago and do fun stuff during summer break, like write/illustrate children’s books and travel across the world. I want to learn other languages well, especially Japanese and Chinese, and traveling definitely helps that. I would also like to learn how to play the guitar so I can write songs and sing them. I like to sing a lot.
But um… an aspiration I’ve had since early high school is to develop a good enough portfolio to submit an application to an internship/associate program at Disney or Pixar. I would have a lot to work on, like doing nice figure studies and doing more stylized concept stuff, but I think now with my new digital painting skills (and my watercolor/pen ink sketches) I can possibly do it… I’m just a bit late, since I’m already a few years into college. But yes, like I presume of many of you, I would LOVE to work for a studio like Pixar, even if only for a few months. I’m mostly interested in being a story artist, but I would also like to see how I’d fare with computer animation… Hand-drawn animation is a scary thing to me, and I’ve done it before years ago (I’d probably be better now, but still).
So THAT will be a goal to work on over my month-long winter break and beyond: become a kick-butt digital painter, look up tutorials and fun brushes for Photoshop so I can be even more awesome, go to the figure drawing sessions held at night next semester (even though it’ll be winter ), keep doing watercolor/ink sketches and fill up a sketchbook entirely with 'em, check out free/affordable computer animation programs, read up on animation techniques, complete a few concept art pieces, do some landscape paintings, work on a storyboard… I think that’s it for my long list?
Kudos to any of you who read this lengthy post! I mainly just wanted to write my ideas down, and this way I can remind myself of my goals and feel guilty if I’ve neglected them.
