If my initial goal fails, I would love to become a teacher. That is another one of my aspirations. I love to work with young people and to watch them learn and grow is a heart touching experience.
That’s great TSS! What type of teacher? Elementery, Middle, High? What subject?
100% agreed. Teaching isn’t my number one career choice, but I would love to do it if I get the opportunity.
eje: Yeah I do think so! Your welcome!
I’ve always dreamt of being a teacher too and until recent I was actually determined that I was going to go to university and become one. Then I realized I don’t have enough passion working with youth and that’s something really essential. My boss (a former teacher) was the one who helped me see that, and I’m glad I realized now instead of later.
I don’t dream of being a teacher, but I think I would be a good one in certain subjects.
Yes, same here. I’ve been told I’d make a good history teacher, and I think I would. Because history is one of my passions, and I’d love to share it.
When I was in high school, I actually wanted to become an Agriculture Teacher.
Cool. What is an “agriculture” teacher though? I’ve never heard that term around here before… I’ve got a new summer goal: read Gone With The Wind. I guess my mom finally decided I was at an ‘appropriate’ age to read it and it will be a nice summer hobby in my free time.
Personally I’d like to write the fantasy series clanking in my head. Thing is though I’m not really satisfied with my writing all the same. Still I think the idea is interesting even if it uses some old tropes.
Possibly when all of my (current) academic priorities are out of the way and (inevitably) I’m not able to get immediately into a job which is relevant to my degree for at least a year or two (something else I’d like to do, I also wouldn’t mind being published in terms of science articles either or heck anything academic really). I’ll have a proper stab at the series idea or at least attend some creative writing course of some description then.
^ I’d like to write a book, too. But I don’t have any good ideas. Darn! But someday I might, it seems like a really cool experience to go through.
I’ve thought about being a teacher too. I dunno, though. Around here, teachers don’t make too much money, which isn’t really a big deal to me, but to not get a lot of money I really want to be passionate about what I’m doing. And I’m not sure if teaching is quite the thing for me.
And my room is all a soft blue-ish color! Kinda like this guys face →
That’s a really good statement. I never want to wind up in a career just for the money.
Actually, if I can earn enough money to support myself and to do the thing(s) I love to do, then I’m a happy guy.
Have you ever heard of ‘Future Farmers of America’ or FFA? I was very involved in it in High School, and even served as my school’s FFA President.
Basically, it’s a high school teacher, who teaches Agriculture classes! They’re found across the nation in most schools. My ol’ high school offers: Agriculture (Physical Science), Agriculture (Life Science), Agriculture Chemistry, Agricultural Mechanics, Animal Science, and Plant & Soil science.
They also want to start up a Viticulture (Grape/Wine growing) class.
Ah, yes, I’ve heard of that. Wow, I had no idea! We don’t have anything like that up here, I wish we did though, it sounds really interesting!
Heehee there should be a Future Farmers of Canada.
There should! I like learning about the environment and animals. I tried to take a physical geography class next year which is all about natural disasters but it got cancelled 'cause there wasn’t enough people signed up.
Whaaa? That sounds like an amazingly awesome class! I’d take that!
Yeah, that’s what I thought too! Guess the kids at my school just aren’t into geography. With all this global warming and stuff shouldn’t they care to learn about our planet?! I should have saved this complaint for the “What grinds my gears” thread.
That happens at my school all the time! Classes get cancelled cause of lack of attendance. Darn them! The film class is always cancelled
But I got into art this year, excitement!
Yay, congrats! What type of art class is it? Is one of your aspirations related to art?
Sweet Evangeline! I got into it for next year too. I’m lucky I did because normally you have to have a grade 9 or 10 art to get in but grade 9 I took drama and I couldn’t get in this year. The lady slipped me in anyways though since I lost a few other classes I wanted. I don’t have any art aspirations myself but I like to be creative and it seems like an easy enough credit.
