Back to School

Well today was my second day of my Sophomore Year in High School and I’m enjoying it.
My classes are:
Biology I Honors
Portfolio Art II (AP)
Drama III (Competition)
World History I Honors
I have four classes because in january we get four new classes, I really like this schedule, it works great, there’s just a little more class time than normal schedules, but it allows you to finish all work (yes, even homework) and it gives you less classes to worry about at a time.

ooh, sounds like you got yourself a really exciting schedule martini!

I’m in “high school”, I don’t know what it’s called over in america, it’s the one that is “Grade 6” and above, and Since it is a grammar school, We stay in the same forms and we have plenty of class in-jokes. One of them being “Rumble”.

Here is what we call it in America.

Kindergarten-5th grade: Elementary school.
6th grade-8th grade: Middle school
9th grade-12th grade: High School.

Yeah because you see TSS in the UK (if it’s the same in France) than middle school is called college and there’s 4 years of college and 3 years of high school…

So if middle school is college, what is high school?

Well the name “high school” changes just because of the language (French) and in French it’s Lycée.

So you only spend 2 years in middle school?

Noo no ! You have 4 years in middle school and 3 years in high school !

I’m on about america, Grade 6-8 would mean you have 3 not 2 years in middle school.

Oh i was talking about in France… In America yeah it’s 3 years of middle school !

Why does your location say florida if you are in france?

i get up for school at 6:00am
And i am going into the 6th grade
I am called the pixar geek
and a lot of people say i am a good artist.
including my art teacher

It’s complicated, my father lives in Florida and I visit him on vacations and stuff…

Oh OK.

I am so excited! I start my classes tommorow!

There really isn’t much difference from the American system to ours.

It’s just that Elementary School (which we call Primary school) goes up to 6th grade, and from 7th grade upwards you’re in High School. That’s the end of compulsary education. So, instead of two school changes, there’s just the one.

After that, if you want to continue education, you go to either College or Sixth Form (they’re the same thing really) and that’s for grades 12 and 13. And then university afterwards, if that’s what you’re heading for.

I still haven’t started next year’s preparatory work, and I’m going back in about two weeks now. But seriously, does anyone ever really do work in the summer holidays?

we have to if we fail our exams.

CCS finally fixed the student’s blackboard site and I have my class list.
Monday: 9am - 7pm Creative Visualization (lec), Experimental Animation, Intro to Digital Video
Tuesday: no class
Wednesday: 1pm - 10pm Experimental Animation, Intro to Digital Video, Survey of World Lit.

I’m so excited for creative viz.! It’s all about story development and storyboarding.

I finished my first day of college. It was both boring and a little nerve-wracking at the same time.
