for sure, KFP 2 is being big in China and Russia, Cars 2 does not have sign to catch it in those territories, but a breakout in some other countries seem very likely, at least in the USA it is gonna be bigger, from 50 to 75 million gap minimum between both films
Well, not to mention Cars 2 is somewhat of an international thing, with lots of European capitals in it. That should persuade Western Europe a lot, don’t you think? Either way, I want both movies to do well, as I love both of the originals -about- the same. Doesn’t matter to me, as long as they both have a pretty big profit.
Let’s hope there are no Dutch cars who wear clogs and live in windmills.
'cuz that’s just a bit stereotype.
However, I wish both movies best of luck. If that’s a normal thing to do, wishing movies luck, lolz.
Hey, I do that all the time. However, I’ll be bringing Cars 2 luck. My family(7 people) are going to see Cars 2 for my birthday. Okay? So that is part of my birthday party, so some of my friends are coming. Glenn, Lucas, Catey, Kayla, Joseph, Haleigh, Nick, and maybe Roxanne. That’s 15 people. Pixar is so lucky I’m a huge fan, right? No, just kidding. I’m sure 15 people won’t really matter on the grand scale, I just like to think I’m doing Pixar a favor by dragging said acquaintances to said movie.
And, I doubt there will be a Dutch joke.
Well I hope to see Panda 2 at some point this week. I’ve heard good things and since the original Panda is in my top 3 for dreamwork’s films I guess I’m kind of excited for it.
With Cars 2 it’s still the whole apprehensive but hopeful deal for me- granted the nervousness comes from the fact I still remember it being said this was a spy film in it’s own right rather than say a parody or homage which makes me nervous. But then this film is likely for younger kids anyway so if it’s not my type of thing it’s hardly a crime and I’m doubting it will be terrible in the sense of ‘my eyes, my eyes the reaper is coming for meeeee’ in any case- just perhaps not for me or to my tastes really. Not really bad perhaps just… not something I may love personally you know?
Besides it’s not like I haven’t been less than blown away by a Pixar film before and heck in that case it was one of their highest grossing ones too at the time. I don’t think I can be dissapointed in that way again because besides I don’t view Pixar as the ultimate perfection anyway who can do no wrong or at the very least a company which has a 100% awesome track record for films for me. A better track record than Dreamworks? Certainly, but DW seems to be really kciking some ass lately too, HTTYD was great as was Megamind and now KFP2 is getting a fair bit of praise- three DW’s films in a row which are good, even excellent? How did that happen? Guess maybe they’re learning their mistakes and that parodies and homages are best done with love when they occur not hate (like KFP and Megamind which are great homages to the martial art and superhero genre). Which is cool, I kind of like the idea of DW’s sort of redeeming itself in that way.
But overall I agree Cars 2 will make more money in general partially by simply having the Pixar name (but also being the ultimate kids grabber, let’s face it I think parents may enojoy KFP2 more but the kids are going to want to see Cars 2 because… TALKING CARS! RACING! EXPLOSIONS! ) and while it may even (who the heck knows) in time become known as Pixar’s worst movie looking at sales that’s NOT to be sniffed at in terms of money making potential all the same (even disregarding the merchandise gold mine cars is in general. I swear you could stamp a brick with the Cars logo on it, say it was a replica of a brick from some building blown up in the sequel and watch the money roll in). But yeah I think Panda 2 will recieve more praise- I mean from what I hear it’s pretty damn good and has me a bit hyped actually. Not so much for Cars 2 but I’ve still some hope it will be good. I think Cars 2 will make more than the original movie did anyway.
Granted I might not get around to seeing Cars 2 all the same before it leaves theatres- my schedule is weird this summer with my project and if I have to prioritise I’m seeing Panda first at least.
There is no doubt that Cars 2 was the biggest animated film in comparison to Panda. It made more money and got more attention.
I however, personally, liked Kung Fu Panda 2 more than Cars 2.
Cars 2 is intended for international audiences, it will pull in more money, despite being a bad film.
KFP2 was better, but still not up to the original. I’d give it a 5/10, whereas I’d give Cars 2 a 1/10. It was just that bad.
I liked KFP2 better than Cars 2, but both were good movies. I think with reviews, KFP2 has the edge, but if we’re talking about money, I think it’s gonna be Cars.
I have seen both Kung Fu Panda 2 and Cars 2 and to be honest I found both to be good in different ways. I found KFP:2 to be much more exciting than the first one and Shen was a seriously well thought out and excellent villain (Gary Oldman really helped bring the character to life!). I also found Cars 2 to be more exciting then the first Cars. When it comes down to who makes the most money it would have to be Cars especially based on merchandise sales alone. I’ll buy the Cars 2 DVD but I’m not getting the KFP:2 DVD so that comment speaks for itself on what I personally think was the biggest animated film for me anyway
