I was just thinking, Bo Peep’s possible situation (I haven’t read any of the spoilers yet) could relate to “When She Loved Me,” and how she felt about Molly. I know she’s just part of a lamp but the general theme of her [spoil]being thrown out[/spoil] (Not sure if that’s a spoil so just in case).
Neither do I. I’ve loved him from the start. I was referring to Phileas’ statement about how Woody comes off as a tool several times in the first film.
I don’t mean to divert this topic, but of course Woody’s not a jerk, nor a tool, and yes, he’s quite realistic. One of the reasons I love Woody is because I can relate to him. Let’s just say I never had a lot of luck with the ladies- they go for the Buzz Lightyears in my life, while I’m cast aside like Woody. - oh, what’s that monologue he has in Sid’s house. Hang on-
“What chance does a toy like me have against a Buzz Lightyear action figure? All I can do is… “There’s a snake in my boot!” - Why would Andy ever want to play with me, when he’s got you?”
There we go.
But yes, having Bo not around is another chance of showing Woody’s heart, and how hard it is to have friends, and loved ones, and love interests be gone and there being nothing to do about it. -Omar
I remember as a little girl being confused as hell as to why Andy would use Buzz as a sleeping buddy over Woody… I was like, “ISN’T HE MADE OF PLASTIC?!” Seriously, that scene was not good for my logical thinking even as a kid, so I guess I would relate to Woody in a realistic sense.
Not that I don’t like Buzz, he’s freakin’ hilarious and I was having too much fun messing with the buttons on some Buzz action figures at Wal-Mart yesterday. I definitely have had “Buzz” moments in my lifetime, though. (“I AM MRS NESBIT!”)
As for the Bo thing, I get it now. I would very much like to see Woody reflect on that.
Pixie Dust, exactly! When I finally got a Buzz a few years ago, he struck me as very hard- plastic that is, and I had to remove his batteries just to momentarily recreate the sleeping Andy scene. Otherwise I’d have been awoken around 3 Am when I rolled over Buzz with, “Buzz Lightyear to the rescue!” -Omar
Eh, as a kid I once slept with an empty bottle of bubble bath shaped like Michelangelo from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. So I could never judge Andy’s choice too harshly.
Meh, I’m not too saddened with the exclusion of Bo Peep in this film. Honestly, I thought the only real reason, as now confirmed for me by Lee Unkrich, was as the token female in a predominantly male group. Her character was pretty bland and she really didn’t do anything to affect the storyline except gush about how much she loved Woody. But at Toy Story 3, when the other toys already know that they need to stick together and can’t take chances to fight like they did in 1, Bo’s character is pretty much rendered useless. Plus, with the inclusion of both Mrs. Potato Head and Jessie, along with all of the other females in TS3, there’s no need for an underdeveloped lamp decoration. If anything, I’m moreover disappointed that lesser known characters like Etch-A-Sketch, Mr. Spell or the Green Army Men [spoil]from what Ive heard they have a really tiny role in the film[/spoil] weren’t given their time to shine in this film, except for Mrs. Potato Head.
Still, she was in both 1&2 so as a veteran character i was a bit mounful, originally, over her loss. But I’m sure that like the “cleverly” written out Poochie, her missing character will be moreover beneficial to 3.[/spoil]
True, I slept with my NKOTB Jordan for years, and probably would still do it if I could find his original body. I guess Buzz was bigger and his electronics posed a problem- that of if rolled over. I had the same problem with the Talking Duke G.I.Joe figure I had. His hair trigger let off a volley of shouts “Rock N Roll, let’s rock n roll on Cobra!” in the middle of the night if I didn’t remove his batteries.
Woody was a far far better sleeping partner, with his soft body.
Bo’s being missing really was sad, even with her clever storyline write out. I had always hoped somehow Andy would’ve kept her, seeing as how she was always the damsel in distress for Woody to save. -Omar
For me, it was always Buzz or Woody. Buzz was never a problem for me, but for the people hearing “to infinity and beyond” in the middle of the night, it was.
A little OT, but the green army men may [spoil]not appear for long, but when they appear in the one scene, not only is it sad, but you’ll realize that that is the only way to have them leave.[/spoil]
