Ah! Sorry – here you go:

and

So basically – I remember
reading about him doing a book signing (Feb of 2005) – and it was a Tuesday school night – so I begged my mom
and we drove about 2 hours in horrible traffic to … I think it was the Grove in LA. And we got to the Barnes
& Noble and there was a lot of people there – so we were worried as to how long after the Q&A we’d be
there for the signing – but we knew no matter what we wouldn’t leave without talking to him.
So one of the
workers was walking around telling us he would only sign the Art of the Incredibles books and the screenplay of
the Incredibles we were all given (see picture) … nothing else – they also said he wouldn’t be able to
personalize anything seeing as there were so many people and they wanted to speed through everyone. And I was
like “ok - that’s fine - I’m just fine being in the same ROOM.”
So he came out and did a Q&A
– it was a lot of fun.
My mom described him as a very “animated” person (har har) – he’s so
enthusiastic but so cool! I remember him talking about future projects – but this was before he got Ratatoville
(spelling?).
So when it got down to the signing part - they said they were gonna let the kids get signed first
– YES.
That made us happy since there were only about 5 kids total. I was last in line with my mom - and we
walk up to him and he signs my Art of the Incredibles book and my mom tells him all about how I want to be an
animator and go to CalArts and he completely lights up going “Oh that’s my school!” and it was really
cool - and he stops and askes how to spell my name and I tell him and he writes “Go Jessie!” at the top
and then wishes me luck etc.
HE IS SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME!! ^^
So yeah – I don’t think he would have
done that if not for my mom ranting on about my future goals hahah. Thanks mom. -_-
But yeah – we were just
amazed with that since they said he wouldn’t personalize anything. SO yeah – that’s my little story about
meeting Brad Bird!
I did meet him again last Feb (2006) at the Annie Awards … of course I don’t think he
would remember - and he was busy talking to people - but he was again very nice and gave me an autograph.
(I
also met Tom Kenny and Nancy Cartwright – who were both SO unbelivably SWEET.)
So yes! That’s my story.
Probably one of the most exciting moments of my 16 year old life! Hah.
