Cars 2 CD soundtrack!

It looks like according to Pixar Blog Cars 2 is getting a CD release!http://pixarblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/exclusive-cars-2-soundtrack-to-feature.html

Rejoice!

I find it funny that the post mentions that one of the original songs has to be from a narrowed-down set of groups from the last movie, and he includes The Chords, an oldies band that couldn’t possibly be around anymore.

Too bad it won’t get a TS3 or Up CD released.

Makes me wonder if Brave’s will be released to disc, too. I sure hope so.

Then it’d be nice if they did an Up disc and a TS3 disc to fill in the gap, kind of…I know I’m just dreaming…

Sweetness! I can’t wait to see what Michael G. has in store for us!

Cars 2 soundtrack?!

I´ll be buying this, I 'll be getting every pixar stuff that is released, and I hope we could get a Brave soundtrack disc too

Speaking of Brave…I’ve heard a little tell of it and I’m curious. What exactly is the storyline for that movie? And when is it coming out? Just a brief overview would be good, I’m not looking for extreme details or anything.

No one can give you details because not a lot are out. But it takes place in ancient Scotland and is about a Princess named Merida. It’s coming out in 2012, and will be Pixar’s 13th film. Want to know more than google it.

Ahh, I see. I thought it sounded like there were more details out and about then that so I was just curious. Don’t worry about!

I wish there were more details out! Since my last post, there’s been some new concept art released. If you’re interested check out Upcoming Pixar or Pixar Blog. There’s also a lot of discussion topics on the subject at the Upcoming Movies section of the forums.

Back to topic, do we know how many original songs there will be? Michael G. isn’t as big into that as Randy Newman was, so I’m interested to see how it’ll be.

Well, the seven sees have given us a hint that the sype music in this film is similar to James Bond. Gotta love Michael Giacchino. thesevensees.com/2011/03/29/cinemacon-disney/

To be compared to the James Bond scores is a very tall claim. I hope Mikey G. and Pixar live up to that promise, cos’ no one takes on David Arnold and gets away that easy! :sunglasses:

That’s not to say I won’t be rooting for Mikey G. and Pixar to do just that. I will be having very high ‘Anton-Ego’-level expectations.

I think one thing is for sure: this soundtrack will be very different from the first! I mean think about it…going from the tiny, quiet, calm town of Radiator Springs to world-wide, action-filled, super-spy style! :stuck_out_tongue:

heres a taste of the cars 2 music in this intense chase scene with mcmissile. It sounds great.

Yup, sounds great so far. There’s not much of a strong theme I can discern yet… like David Arnold’s music for Casino Royale for example, you can hear the theme song played in the score several times like this track (Mistakenly titled #10 instead of #4). And each character has their own ‘theme’ like in Pixar’s Up, so Vesper has one like this track.

Of course, this is only a few minutes of one scene from the entire movie. And Mikey G has proven he can weave character themes and the main theme into the soundtrack, so I hope he pulls a ‘David Arnold’ for Cars 2 as well.

Plus, I’ve received assurances from someone internally that the score will be fantastic, so that’s good news.

ya i agree. I DON’T want to judge this yet, because i haven’t heard anything excpet that piece, but i was expecting the music to be fast beat since its a chase scene, and especially the explosion. i was thinking originally it would be different. but yes it sounds great. at 0:25 in the video, i was picturing the entire beginning chase scene to be fast like that theme. and then after the explosion when mcmissile jumps, i pictured a big high BOOM beat…but we’ll wait and see. problem is i cant wait…i WANNA HEAR IT NOW… UGHHH time needs to go faster

Unfortunate news: That isn’t Mikey G’s score from Cars 2. Scroll to the bottom of the page here: pixartimes.com/2011/04/03/disney … -campaign/ I’m disappointed that it isn’t. This sounded really good and I was hoping that this would be his score.

Its not that it isnt his score, its just not his FINAL score for that scene. That means mikey will do more work on it. Don’t get me wrong, but i am relieved its not the final. it needs more faster beats, something chasey thatll give me goosebumps lol. especially during the explosion one. But that stuff before sounded great.
