Please check your PMs.

I had a hunch that Cars would be the first sequeled Pixar film after Toy Story. It had the ending that was conclusive-yet-open-ended enough to go either way. As long as Pixar have control over the story, I’m cool with it.

As I said before, I hope they have a good story and are not doing it just for sequels sake. But if Pixar and John Lasseter are involved, hopefully it won’t disappoint. I’d be curious to know what direction they will take.

I sincerely hope it doesn’t happen, simply because I’d rather see a new original film than a sequel, whether it be for Cars or any other Pixar film. From the sounds of the blog, it really does seem like the sequel to Cars would not be for storyline sake, but more for merchandising, but coming from someone at Disney, Bob Iger, that’s no surprise.

Of course, whatever decisions Pixar make are always the right ones, so I guess I’ll be happy with whatever happens.

I don’t know if it is actually confirmed, but if it is, then I can’t wait to see the sequel!
As long as Pixar is 100% in charge, I’m terribly excited to see Cars 2!

Although this did come from Bob Iger, he did say it’s inevitable, but really, that’s what Disney wants, sequels. Because sequels = more money. The Cars franchise has made billions for Disney, and that’s why they want a sequel. But whether this sequel is in 3 years or 10 years, there probably will be a sequel. Let’s hope it’s 10 years.

I hope Bob Iger is just saying that in a businessman’s perspective because if this really happens I’ll be dissapointed, I mean c’mon, this sounds NOTHING like Pixar but more like a suit to me. I love Cars, once I put it in my DVD player, I can’t stop watching, but a second one would be an insult to those other amazing movies that Pixar has come out with (all of them) and I think it’d be extremely unfair. The most I’d go along with is a short film, that’s perfectly ok with me.
Extra- It also seems messed up since it’s an “unnecesary sequel” and Lasseter himself shut down that division at Disney, so doesn’t that seem a bit controversial, do you think Lasseter, or one of the directors at Pixar (who probably have the same philosphy) would go through with it?

I hope it never happens.

After some more serious thought, I don’t think this article confirms a thing. :bulb:

I’d love a Cars 2. But as I havn’t seen anything confirmed 100%, 'm not getting too excited about it! But again, we shall see.
Perhaps Paul Newman was telling the truth afterall?

Dan.

I really hope not.

Pleez be true.Everybody thinks Cars is a bad film…blah, blah, blah :stuck_out_tongue: .But I think this movie is perfect for a sequel! :sunglasses:

I want a Cars 2!!!

Dan: I think Paul Newman was telling the truth, if he really did say that.
Rachel: Why not? :`-(
L&S: I’m with you 101% more than all the way!
Buzz: YEAH!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know what to think about this. Oh well, just wait and see. Maybe it won’t be that bad and no one forces us to see the sequel.

If it’s going to be Pixar, it’s going to be great.

Doncha think Finding Nemo needs a sequel too? I dunno just a thought. :unamused:

Yes, of course, but that’s off-topic.

I don’t mind sequels for (almost) anything, but if it’s just for the money AND it’s a Pixar film by John Lasseter, it just seems so wrong. I’d file this under speculative until we hear more from Pixar and ONLY Pixar.

Believe me, this is happening. Iger knows what he’s talking about. Sure it’s not an “official” confirmation, but it’s pretty close. I mean it;s the CEO of Disney, which now owns Pixar, saying, ‘I bet a Cars sequel is coming’. It’s not like some rumor…
