You know, I was actually wondering the same thing…
Nahh, his constant bias and agenda against Pixar leads me to think he’ll hate it anyway.
Did he give the original Cars a negative review? Did he even have a career then?
UGH!!!
I don’t even care about the reviews anymore! So confusing! So split! I just want to see the movie right now!
Based on the premises of most of these bad reviews, I’m learning not to care about them. They’re so falsely concocted.
Hello, last few minutes of Ratatouille, anyone?
I read professional critic reviews sometimes as a guide, but in no way do I let them dictate my opinion on a film until I see it for myself. How I look at it is, professional critique should never be the bellwether of anything, be it film or another art form. Ultimately, two things dictate how “good” a film is.
- Success at the box office
- Reception from the general public
Obvious, we know the first is a given. And from what I’ve heard of ordinary people who’ve seen Cars 2, the second holds true as well. My point is, a film is good to me if it is exactly that, good to me. Why should I let some old person who spends half the day in front of a theater screen, and the other half in front of a computer decide my opinion for me, when I was born with a perfectly working brain that is more than capable enough of coming up with one on my own? Being the only Pixar film ranked rotten is only a setback if you consider the Tomatometer as a legitimate merit, which, quite frankly, I don’t.
And don’t think I just came up with this in the light of recent events to cheer everyone up, I’ve always had this sort of stance toward anyone who makes a living criticizing others.
I don’t think I could have said it any better!
Up to 41% now…
So it is going up
Theres still hope!
Like I said before, IT WILL GO UP! Fresh rating, here we come! We can do it!
The critics are being to demanding and harsh on this film. But it will get its fresh rating regardless. There’s no way it can be as horrible as they are claiming.
YES, Roger Ebert, probably my favorite critic ever, gave Cars 2 a dazzling review! I worrying when his would come in, because usually I agree with his opinion, and I would probably start to have doubts if he gave it a bad one. The thing I like most about him is that his ratings are based on how the audience that would go and actually watch the film would enjoy a certain film, not just based on his own thoughts. That’s the type of intelligent review that counts.
Yeah Jeff! We were discussing earlier how amazing that is!
Tintin.
Not really. If you have bills to pay, not putting down $10 on a movie that’s been doing poorly critically is a pretty smart thing to do. The only reason I’ll see this in theaters is because I have a free ticket. If I didn’t, I seriously would have considered waiting out. There was nothing about the trailers that made me even a tad excited, and every trailer since Ratatouille has gotten me extremely excited for their upcoming films.
Some of you guys seriously need to chill out. Rottentomatoes scores make people sad? Seriously, guys? The movie’s quality will be no different despite where the rating goes from here. I like watching where it goes for movies I’m watching out for, but it doesn’t really matter where it goes from here because the quality of the movie won’t improve because RT goes up to 50% or something. Calm down.
Oh sorry, double post then. >.>
No problem, it’s really exciting!
You missed Effluvium’s point completely.
It’s not a bad movie, people are just making it rotten because they’re basing it on Pixar as if that’s what they should be basing it on. Like I said, the bad reviews even say the movie is good. It’s not Pixar heaven though.
Cartoon Brew have uploaded their review on Cars 2 - and it’s not too bad. Jerry (of Cartoon Brew) ends his review with a prediction: “Cars 2 will get Pixar’s poorest critical reception, but it’ll be Pixar’s all-time biggest moneymaker.” - which I agree with.
Oh, and have a look at the comments. A user called Kamron hits the nail on the head, I think.
AICN just posted a nice review. Overall, it seems like a few critics couldn’t accept the logic-defying aspects of the universe and put down the movie because of that…
