To be honest I find all this “OH MAIII GAW PIXAR FAILED FOR THE FIRST TIMEEEEE” nonsense hilarious! Don’t get me wrong, I love pixar but they’re just another movie company. Chill guys
Well, to be honest, they HAD quite an exceptional track record, no doubt about that…
It’s at 45% now… eurgh, bring on Brave please.
I’m not freaking out about Pixar failing. I’m freaking about my favorite characters failing. Honestly, the only movie I’m crazy about is Cars. I’m a fan of the other stuff too, but Cars is the only one for me.
Amen to that.
Cars 2 was the only time a trailer for a Pixar film didn’t get me excited in the slightest, and rightfully so, it seems.
This is a 100% pure merchandising cash grab (Yogurt would be so proud - May the schwartz be with you!) and an unnecessary one at that.
Cars toys are selling like hotcakes even without a sequel.
Brave on the other hand looks like it’s really about Pixar being, well, brave again instead of going for the cheap and easy route.
So I’m going to, for the first time ever, skip a Pixar film entirely.
Well, at least the new Muppets movie is something to look forward to until Brave hits the screen, the trailers for that one look simply awesome!
That’s another thing. I think you should at least give it that chance it deserves. After all, it seems to be only the critics complaining.
^Agreed! Not seeing a movie just because other people don’t like it is silly. I was worried about the negative reviews at first, but I’m still going to watch Cars 2 the day is comes out and make up my own mind
I see the reasoning though, but there are a ton of movies that I’ve seen that were said to amazing, but I just didn’t like it. I still saw it though. Just like there are a ton of movies I’ve seen that were said to be bad, but I still saw them and ended up loving some of them.
So you never know, I think we owe it to John to give him a chance. If it was any other guy with less passion, I wouldn’t say that.
I know the reviews shouldn’t upset me but they really do. It feels nice to have them behind me, either good or bad. Thinking about John is breaking my little old heart, I can’t even imagine what’s happening at Pixar right now, but then again it hasn’t even been in the theaters yet. My heart actually did a flip when I saw the score. I’m tearing up. But I still love Pixar, and I haven’t seen it yet either! I trust them. Really. And once I see it and the reviews are actually proven to be unfairly wrong and all, I’ll have something to argue about. Still…
I thought I would cry if I ever saw this, but actually, it only made me angry at opinions. It’s a shame because I was just starting to accept them. The critics shown, no one can doubt, are absolutely criminal. I used my choice of diction wisely when I said that. I will still accept opposite opinions, but what I won’t accept are ones that are unfair.
^ That’s actually a really good point. I know that some people won’t like it just because they genuinely don’t, but these critics actually seem really low and judge it based on Pixar, not the movie. Which stinks. I don’t think I’m ever going to look at another critic score again, because really they are people too, and they’re biased just like the rest of us. They’ve been waiting for this day for a long long time
They’ve been waiting as long as us.
Honestly, I don’t trust RottenTomatoes at all. I mean, they have the nerve to publish nonsensical “reviews” from arrogant idiots like Armond White and Cole Smithey! I just can’t take that seriously. And if you’ve actually had the displeasure of reading any of the negative “reviews” for Cars 2 on RT, you’d see that the so-called “critics” who wrote them are no more than a bunch of narrow-minded haters who will do or say anything to make it seem like Pixar failed.
But still, I can’t help but feel upset about it - Pixar doesn’t deserve such negativity. Even if Cars 2 really does turn out to be Pixar’s worst movie, it’s bound to be better than anything Dreamworks can cook up (with the exception of How to Train Your Dragon).
I’m not expecting it to be better than the first Cars (which, despite of what the haters say, is a great movie), and I’m still a bit skeptical about it, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about Cars 2 from people who actually saw the movie with an open mind, so I’m still willing to see it no matter what some self-proclaimed “professional film critics” say.
Well, Roger Ebert is a smart guy when it comes to reviewing movies, so I actually believe him. However, the rating is now 39%. Goddamnit Pixar, you’re better than that.
It’s going to take more than a few bad reviews to stop me from seeing it though. At the end of the day, it’s still Pixar.
Wow. Roger Ebert was the one review I was looking forward to and the one reviewer I actually have ever followed or cared about. This is awesome. He looks at the film as its own film, not as how it stands up next to other Pixar films. Honestly, I don’t even care about other reviews now - Ebert has spoken.
Roger Ebert is really the only reliable film critic out there these days. I’m so glad to see that he loved Cars 2! That makes me feel so much better! Thanks for sharing his review with us, Pixarfan9099!
You’re welcome!
This is so amazing and awesome. I think we’ll see the RT score start to go up now. ALL critics look for his reviews.
Yes, this literally makes me feel 10x better about the lower RT score
If all the other critics look up to Ebert, then the movie may hopefully have a chance of it’s score improving. In fact, the rating is now 41%.
However, I doubt Pixar will be winning the Oscar this year. It may go to Dreamworks, if that Puss in Boots spin-off is good.
