I want to know where they
got that info.
i just read it. and i am
wonder the same thing. going to check wikipedia right now.
Edit: just checked wikipedia. Nonething about
a Cars 2. If this news is true then Pixar is saying almost nothing about.
I don’t think this is true, besides why would Pixar do two squeals in a row, that just does
not make sense.
I really hope they don’t do a Cars 2. I think one is good enough.
Same here, TSS.
Yeah it will just mess up the 1st one. I’m hoping
they don’t!!!
hmm … as much as I would like this to be true , I highly
doubt it is …
besides , there wouldn’t be that much to do , except the next dinoco racecar would be a
good plot …
and the whole sally/lightning relationship would be able to build to .
Au contraire, I think Cars is
the most sequel-friendly film we’ve seen from Pixar to date. The ending is very much a life-goes-on ending, and
if you believe the game, Lightning is still plenty cocky at times, so there’s more you can do with his (and
other) characters.
But Pixar making a film three years after the original is something I find difficult to
believe. If they’re making it, they’ll take their time. I’d welcome a sequel that builds upon the strengths
while correcting the flaws and shortcomings of the original. Perhaps give more exposition as to how the Cars
universe works (baby Cars, for one thing). If Pixar study where they went wrong with the first film (as pointed
out by that series of articles on Upcoming Pixar) and correct the problems, they can make a great story. Thank
goodness they have a culture of dissecting each film and analysing the flaws.
Besides, from what I’ve
read about this Al Lutz (admittedly never heard of him until today), we should take what he says with a grain of
salt without external verification. We can’t take the say of several internet sites each referencing each other
as proof of Cars 2. My burden of proof on matters like these is of a Wikipedian level. If nothing else, it
reduces false hope.
But I must reiterate: No Paul Newman, No Doc Hudson, No Sequel.
pfft bunch of baloney
As much as I hate to say it, I really doubt that they are going to a make a Cars 2, i mean don’t you
think that if it was coming out later in years, it wouldn’t be '09 cuz it takes a long time for the Pixar folks
to do their thing and make a movie. And since Paul Newman is retired, heck, I don’t think that Pixar would beg
him to come back, that is get someone else to do Doc’s voice or kick him out of the movie.
Doc:
You can’t kick me out! What’s Cars with me!?
Anyways, there is a bunch of rumors foating over the net,
and very VERY slim chance of Cars making a come back to the big screen again.
Doesn’t it take over 2
years for Pixar to make an animated movie? I mean they say it’s comin’ out '09 and that’s like 2 yrs! And
they just got done making the 1st one, so, yeah, maybe in later years, but ya know if they were for sure that
they were making a sequel WE (as in us at PP) would know about it right? I mean heck, no one even knows what
WALL-E is. heh. And most of us are really good as tarcking these things down. i’ll find some info on it. TO
Google!
Au Contraire to both of you , CarFreak and RMS Oceanic ! Paul Newman said he would be retiring acting . We
don’t know if by acting he means 100% not doing any movie anymore or if he means
acting by live-action moving about acting . If we are lucky , he means choice two , because as much as I love my
Doccie (the character , not Paul) , I would rather there be no Doc Hudson than Doc Hudson with a cheap fake voice
that only sounds close to Paul’s . Nobody can ever act as good as him …
Besides , unless Paul Newman is
as stubborn as Doc , Pixar can find some cute kid to make a puppy dog face pout at him and beg … ahem , Pixar if
you need anybody , I’m here waves . lol
And if they can’t , then I’ll stick to my fanfictions as the
sequels and not see any Cars movie … okay , so I’d see it , but I probably wouldn’t like it …
ONce
again , Pixar , if you need a sequel , I’m over here , just let me take control of merchandising and acting
spots and I’m fine … besides , I’ve got some fresh new talent for ya ! lol …
The thing is with Cars 2, I don’t think it ended with a possibility for a sequel. TS did, and it got one.
So I think if it doesn’t set anythingup, then there probably won’t be one.
I think most of it is based on money. I
don’t know the exact figures but if you take how well CARS did in the theatres vs. how much it cost to make,
they will take that same analysis to determine whether or not to make a CARS 2. If they think they can pull in
enough people to make CARS2 profitable then they will probabl make a sequel.
But check out what this guy says:
He says the guy is
pretty reliable…
I remember Pixar specifically saying that they’ll only do a sequel to a film if it’s
REALLY good, like TS and TS2. Cars was awesome, but many film critics discouraged it (most likely for its
similarities to Doc Hollywood), saying that Pixar “failed this time” and stuff like that… I mean,
psh, whatever… but anyway, the point is, I don’t think Cars was quite eligible
for a sequel. (Though I personally would have LOVED to see more of Cars. T_T)
I really think this is hogwash. I can’t see Disney
wanting to make Cars 2 considering how poorly Cars performed in their eyes.
And the story was wrapped up so nicely- it had one of those definitive endings that
doesn’t make you think about what might happen after the film, and it doesn’t
leave any major, important questions unanswered. I think a Cars 2 would actually spoil the credibility and the
neatness of the first one.
Awww comeon guys.another sequel would be great(doubt the`ll make one )! But why cant
they just make another movie instead of a stupid videogame. [/spoil]
becuase viseo games rot your mind more !
L&S: I think because they want to give one suggestion
of what happened. And also, some people are ding to know what happens next, so the VG should be a good follow
up.
I am
not here to stand up for miceage.com or Al Lutz, but I will say I have been reading his articles for years now
and he has a pretty good track record.
I am not entirely sure that this rumor is true but knowing how much
of a fan Al Lutz is for ‘Cars’ I would not be surprised.
Here is another tidbit:
I’ve heard this rumor floating around for a
while and didn’t believe it so I didn’t feel the need to post about it. I still don’t know if it’s true. Most
of my sources are on the Imagineering side and the animators I know tend to work for Disney, not Pixar… so I
can’t varify this.
But Al Lutz over at Miceage left a little editorial blurb that mentions Cars 2 will be
Pixar’s 2009 release. He also mentions a new cars short for 2008 which I had heard about and did believe. But he
says his sources confirmed it, so take from that what you will. Some people were thinking that Andrew Stanton was
going to direct “A Princess of Mars” and have it out by 2009… I knew that wasn’t right. The script
for APOM isn’t even done yet and it takes about two years to animate one of Pixar’s films. That was a big, red
flag right there…
It does fill a hole in their schedule:
Ratatouille 2007.
Wall-E
? 2009.
Toy Story 2010.
So maybe Cars 2 will take that slot? If true, I wonder who
Lasseter tapped to direct since he may be kinda busy the next few years…
This is
what the blurb actually said:
5/30: Here’s an interesting tidbit heard at the
Indy 500 from Paul Newman himself: Did you know a new Cars short will debut Summer 2008? And that Cars 2 is set
for a 2009 release? This first popped up on CarsTheToys.com and checked out from my end. - Al
Lutz
