HOW DID CHEVRON PULL IT OFF?!
What do Cars DO in the bathroom? We know they have one because it shows it in the latest TV spot. Mater goes into the ladies’ room and drives out as some girl cars scream, and goes into the john next door.
Hahaha! Good question, for some reason I don’t really wanna know
lover_of_fiction There’s a clip of Mater in the bathroom I believe in the news Cars TV spot. At least that’s what I think was going on.
Easy, they change their oil pans (You can see one under Luigi and Guido when they faint upon seeing Schumacher in the first movie). And they evacuate all those Continental Breakfasts outta their bowels.
The way I imagine it, cars drink water and oil as liquids, pump gas into their tanks like what Sally did to Lightning before they went for the Wheel Well drive, and eat mostly vegetarian food, though like I speculated earlier, they could consume combine harvesters, bull dozers, and Beetle bugs as their ‘livestock’.
And obviously, post-digestion, they get rid of the waste in the toilets. The bidet that surprised Mater is there for a reason.
^Good ideas! I agree with that except for the livestock part. I personally do not believe that they consume them. But that’s just how I roll
maybe they empty their transmission fluid? or ‘pack out their trunk’?
Neither do I. But I do think that they get oil, or maybe gas from the tractors. Kind of like how we get milk from cows.
I think, generally the cars in this universe mostly drink liquidated foods, because i just can’t see them eating solid metals in any way. trying to stuff certain metals down one’s muffler, doesn’t sound like digestion, sounds more like your choking to death! So, liquidated foods?
Oil, Kerosene, Gasoline, Ethanol, Diesel, Transmission Fluid, Steering Wheel Fluid (for coordination), Propane.
That’s a good theory jessie! I can imagine that. Food wise, I agree that they probably only drink liquid foods. What is the purpose of them eating “livestock” or “meat” anyways? The main purpose of meat is to provide protein and I don’t think cars need that.
I don’t know about the gender, but for some reason I have the idea that cars there were made in factories too, but that doesn’t make sense because there are cars of different ages, so how would they “grow” as they got older. Maybe they do reproduce. Either way, it doesn’t make sense that they would grow.
I think before we all ask things like this, there are more pressing issues in the Cars world to figure out. Like, how do cars talk?
My point is, it’s fun to brainstorm and come up with cool ideas and theories. I love doing that. But sometimes, it is what it is.
Not that I’m discouraging further discussion! I love hearing other people’s ideas!
Wha… WHAT?!
The good thing about it is that Cars 2 did answer some of these questions. Apparently, cars do eat normal food like we do, along with liquids such as oil. [spoil]When Lightning and the gang go to the Tokyo party and Mater eats the “pistachio ice cream”? You can also see at the bar that there are other Japanese foods such as sushi.[/spoil]
And we know how Cars go to the bathroom, as there was a whole (hilarious) scene about Mater using it. I’m sure they don’t have such advanced systems in R. Springs like in Tokyo (courtesy of Mater not knowing how to use it, LOL.)
As for the gender thing, I always just looked at the windshield, with what I think MissCarrera was saying, the lining is thicker, black, and curvier for a female car where a male’s is straighter and has no lining. It’s also very easy (for me, anyway) to tell the genders apart with their voice or body type.
This is actually something I thought of, too, but something I had to remember was that in their world, Cars= Humans. And I think as someone mentioned before, I forgot who, it would totally cancel out the need for genitalia which we know from the first movie, that they do have.
I actually had some questions that even though they don’t fit under “Cars Gender”, I thought since so many different questions were being asked, I could ask others’ thoughts here. It’s obvious looking at the difference between cars like Lizzie and let’s say, Lightning, that models and years are involved with cars ages. Which definitely works for cars, like Doc or Sheriff or even Flo. But how does it work for newer cars such as Lightning or Sally? It’s implied that Lightning and Sally are in their 20s. (I have personal suspicions that Sally may be even in her early 30s), but looking at Sally being a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. Obviously, the age years and model years don’t match up. So I’m really wondering how she can be in her 20s or 30s, and the model she is is only 9 years old, which would also go back to Amy43’s question quoted above.
Another question would be oil: We know that cars drink oil, it’s seen many times in the movie, but I remember in Cars 2 how [spoil]Mater, or I suppose Axelrod, depending on if you saw the movie or not, leaked oil.[/spoil] I thought “Okay, oil is like pee.” but then I thought “How can they drink oil, then?” So, if anyone had any thoughts on how that’s possible.
As you can see already, I pay WAY too much attention to detail, always have. But here’s my last question: I noticed throughout the movie that all cars have the logo of the make of car. Such as the British police have “Ford” logos on their hood, Sally has a Porsche logo on her hood. But I was trying to find out what type of car Holly is, she doesn’t have any logos, and I’ve never seen a car like her before, so I wondered if she actually was a real make of car or if Pixar just designed her like that, which I don’t think they will, if every other car in the movies has a make.
I’m looking forward to discussing these with you guys!
Off-topic: Ding, your new sig is a-mazing!
On-topic: Welcome SallyMcQueen I am sooo happy to meet another SalQueen shipper. I think we will get along excellent and I really like the points you have brought up! I too agree with the suggestion that Lightning and Sally are in their 20’s. I get my age guesses from their personalities. I also feel that based on her more mature attitude that Sally is older than McQueen. Not only that, but we also know that she had an established career as a lawyer before RS which gives the impression that she is older than say somebody like McQueen who had only just entered his first year of racing. As for your question about oil being pee and them drinking it…yeah I totally do not get that. I guess they are two different types of oil or something? And the last topic of Holley’s make, I heard that she was made purely by Pixar but like McQueen I believe there was the influence of a few different makes on her. Such as how McQueen has a Corvette style to him (in the cruising scene) although he isn’t actually one. I think Holley is much the same, just a hybrid of a variety of cars and some Pixar imagination.
Thank you for your warm welcome, MissCarrera! Sal/Queen shippers unite! Yes, I think we will too and Pixar does this to me every time, haha. Makes me become my true over-analytical self. I have always thought of Sally being older than Lightning, too. I based that off of her personality and the career aspect as well. As I’m thinking this, Sally could be anywhere between 26- early 30s. By the time, she becomes a lawyer, she’s already 24 and when she was explaining her past in the movie, she implied (or at least Lightning thought she implied) that she was rich and well-known, so she must of been doing her job for some time. Again, I’M SO OVER-ANALYTICAL. It’s just practice for when I become a lawyer, haha. As for Lightning’s age, it’s kind of hard to pinpoint. He could of not have gone to college (or could of have, now mostly all NASCAR drivers have college education) Whether he went to college or not, I would say he’s between 23-28.
About the oil, Haha, let’s hope they are two types or else Pixar made a grave mistake. Hmmmm, I found that very interesting about Holly and Lightning’s make. I didn’t know that.
That brings up another topic to my brain, can there be hybrid cars if their parents are different makes? I’m sorry if this was already talked about. Newbie over here.
Those are some good estimates on their ages. I don’t think Sally’s age exceeds 29 but I agree with your range for Lightning. Don’t worry about being over-analytical…when it comes to Cars I love to be as well! And no problem with your question, I don’t believe we have discussed that yet! So, this is assuming Cars can produce off-spring (since I know there are some non-believers) but in my imagination I think yes, they can be a hybrid of their parents. That or the same make as one of their parents. Just imagination what a lovely car Sally and McQueen would have. Oh, and if they were to have a child, do you think their first-born would be a boy or a girl? I always picture it being a girl for some reason.
Thanks! I think there can be a hybrid, also. Someone said on another thread how if it’s a girl, they take the mother’s make and if it’s a boy, they take the father’s make. That’s actually a genius thought, too.
Oh, I know!!! Hmmm, honestly, I can see it going either way perfectly with the gender. I’ve read so many fanfics where they have a girl and she grows up to want to race so that’s been kind of drilled into my head a lot but I also see them having a boy and him growing up to take over his father’s career, you know? I definitely do see them with one or the other, but I think I’m going to go with the boy, just because it seems to fit better. If they had a child, do you think it would be purple, as Lightning and Sally are red and blue?
Are cars born with a color? I’m sure they can be painted over at any age.
I’ve heard some theories from other fans where they are born white first and then their color comes in, I thought it was interesting.
