Cars on Disney Channel

Wasn’t there supposed to be something that has to do with Cars on Disney Channel  ?A couple of weeks ago I saw something like that on the Pixarplanet main page.

There are Cars shorts coming to Disney Channel in the Fall called “Cars Toons”. If you mean when Disney Channel will premiere Cars, I’d say next year.

Are you talking about Cars as in Pixar’s Cars? or are they new cartoon characters martin?

It should be a series of original shorts, a sort of interstitials between Disney Channel shows

from Disney Consumer Products:

I’ve seen none of them, so far…

I got news for ya Disney, franchising a popular movie to death is the best way to ruin it!

Sigh. Sadly, I Disney doesn’t care anymore. WHY WALT? WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DIE?

Wow. Got confused for a second. I was like, “Cars on TV already?” I havent seen any of those things either but I’m not sure how that Cars Toons thing sounds. It could be cute, but it could be cheesy.

Has anyone who has the Disney Channel seen the Cars shorts yet? There’s plenty of ground to explore in the Cars universe, so I’m intrigued with what further adventures Pixar can come up with. Hopefully this becomes a full-fledged TV show like Lilo & Stitch. (You’re entitled to think otherwise…I just hope they don’t milk it to death…Could this be too much of a good thing?) Anyway…

ATTENTION, ALL RESIDENTS OF AUSTRALIA!

Ahem Sorry, for the caps, had to grab your attention, didn’t I? I’m posting this here instead of starting a new thread.

This Saturday, 27/6/08, at 6:30 pm, Channel 7 will be airing the network premiere of Cars!

Viewers also stand the chance to catch any potential Wall-E TV spots during the ad breaks, as there’s a good chance they might want to do a tie-in to a Pixar-related film.

I’m so excited, I didn’t expect this to hit Free-To-Air so fast, considering it’s just a little over two years since its release (I was expecting a premiere in '09). On a side note, they’re premiering the pilot to the new Knight Rider TV show, so I’m going to get a major automotive fix this weekend!

So buckle up, and get ready to relive the adrenaline-fuelled rush of the 2006 hit all over again! :sunglasses:

Yeah, I just saw the add for that driveintheatre I’ll probably watch it but I won’t watch night rider because it’s M. Even though I’ve got the DVD of Cars, I still might watch it. :sunglasses:

Speaking of Cars on Disney Channel, today John Lasseter also showed the first episode of Cars Toons at the same presentation where he announced Cars 2 is coming in 2011 (instead of '12). The DC interstitials are premiering this fall (AKA very soon) the first of which are part of a series called Mater’s Tall Tales, in which Mater tells Lightning a story about how he was once a fire truck. Sounds funny, can’t wait for it.

I may be a major fan of Cars, but I just hope nudging the release date forward will not be at the expense of story. Lots of people are not exactly enthusiastic for a Cars sequel as I (and a few others) are, so I want to see Mr Lasseter and Co. prove the naysayers wrong. Pushing it earlier isn’t exactly going to help things, especially when Mr Newman and Wilson (two important characters) may not even turn up.
I just hope they don’t jeopardise their attempt to flesh out an engaging story and develop the characters further. I’m crossing my fingers here, please don’t go down the Shrek route, Mr Lasseter!
On a happier note, I’m all for more tales from the world of Cars. Thanks for the update, martini833. It’s times like these that I wish I had cable. If you have the Disney Channel, watch it and tell me about it!
And great that you’ll be catching the TV premiere too, nathan. I’m not sure how old you are, but judging from reviews regarding Knight Rider’s pilot, I’d say you’re made the right choice to avoid it if you’re underaged. I miss the good ol’ days when it was just Mr Hasselhoff and K.I.T.T. who would go around rescuing people and saving the day from the bad guys without all these modern-day dilemmas, dark themes and adult intricacies. Not going to stop me from watching it, since I’m above 18 and I’m curious whether they can live up to the original, but it does disappoint me that most TV shows nowadays are too ‘grown-up’ for kids.

thedriveintheatre: Luckily, Cars Toons will also be on Disney.com!
Regarding Cars 2: Remember, at Pixar original stories take at least 4 years to complete because of character developemnt and design, but a sequel would take a little less, 3 years will surely be enough to make a great sequel for Cars. I really can’t wait because I want Cars to have a second chance to shine. The fact that John Lasseter pushed it forward is only a good sign that the sequel is doing well, and either Newt or TBatB are having problems.
EDIT–Here is some more information about the air dates and the episodes: eclipsemagazine.com/television/6 … of-shorts/

thedriveintheatre- according to the government I should be aloud to watch it because it’s M, my mum thinks that M is still 15+, I think I’m the only person in my school who can’t watch M rated stuff. my mum’s very strict. :imp:

Thanks for the link, martini833! I thought when Mr Lasseter mentioned Mater would be a matador, that he would be fighting Frank. But I guess bulldozers would work too. Seems like construction and farm vehicles are ‘animals’ in the Cars world.

Well, if your parents recommend you don’t watch M rated shows, I’d follow what they say Nathan, after all, they know best. From most reviews I’ve read, many agree that the newer series is more ‘adult’ in nature than the old (which I don’t really like, as unless I’m watching alone, I’d rather the show be less explicit so I can watch it with my parents and siblings). I wish they could’ve reduced the adult content to make it more accessible to younger audiences, as from what I’ve heard, the original series was a very cool show for its time. This new series’ plans may backfire and inspire me to rent the older David Hasselhoff version instead! And I actually prefer more innocent, wholesome entertainment than most of the so-called ‘cooler’ violent and rude (unless it’s necessary to the plot) shows they’re churning out today…kids nowadays grow up too fast…

Cars premieres in less than 24 hours…oh boy…come on Oz, where’s the love?

I don’t think I’ll be able to watch Cars tonight because it starts at 6:30 and that’s when church starts and I only want to watch it because of the Wall-E TV spot things. I might be able to tape it or something. But it would be a waste of tapes because I’ve got the DVD. Would the Wall-E TV spots be on You Tube

Here’s a very small image of the Cars Toons logo. It reads Disney/Pixar Cars Toon, so I’m guessing the complete series is Cars Toons, while one episode is a Cars Toon!

lol, beautiful… but small! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok, so this isn’t actually Disney Channel, but it is a Disney•ABC station, anyhow, ABC Family will be playing Cars on December 3rd for it’s cable premiere part of 25 Days of Christmas, I’m tuning in!
Check the link for times and such: abcfamily.go.com/abcfamily/path/ … /page_CARS

it will also be on disney channel…at least that was what Disney Channel said.

It should be on both sense the 25 days of Christmas isn’t just on Disney Channel but also ABC…i’ll check and make sure later.

Haha! I knew when I saw Cars in the 25 Days of Christmas promos that it was finally gonna be shown on TV. Hopefully it’ll be on a night I dont have to work!

I can’t believe it’s been one year since the Free-To-Air debut of Cars, and now Channel 7 is airing it again! As usual, viewers get to relive the adventures of Lightning and Company while standing the chance to catch a potential Up ad spot tie-in or two. So head on up to the starting grid at 6:30 tonight and experience Pixar’s fastest adventure on four wheels again! It’ll be more fun than a tornado in a trailer park!
