Central Brave Discussion

YES! I already have it planned out. Probably will go Friday night.

That’s a nice video!! I love the mother’s day video.

Same! I want to try getting a group of friends to see it with me, but I can’t start making plans until I’ve got showtimes to work with.

Oh, and this past Friday night I saw ā€œThe Avengersā€ in 3D with my family. They showed the latest trailer for ā€œBraveā€ before it, and it looks pretty awesome in 3D. Also, the audience laughed the hardest at the ā€œPretend I’m Meridaā€ part, and that made me really happy.

That’s my favourite piece of humour I’ve seen so far.

^ Same. :-D)

I don’t have a problem with the humor if it’s used effectively.

The ā€œrude humorā€ is the main reason I’m not watching. I’ve already seen a couple of butt jokes in the trailer and they are highly offensive. If Pixar wants to ā€œredeemā€ itself from the awesomeness that was Cars 2 by only making stuff that people WANT, instead of good stuff, then I am no longer a follower of Pixar. Until they make more sequels to their old, classic, tried and true films, I am not giving them any more heed.

Pixar knows what it is doing when it is making sequels. They have , there hnot made a bad sequel yet. Sure, there has only been three so far. But that’s a fair number.

However, they have made a few bad original films, and it looks like the next batch will be just as terrible. Rude humor ruins what otherwise might be a decent movie. I’m glad there’s finally a female protagonist, but I wish this were not the movie she was in. Or at least her mother…her mother is my main interst in this film. But Queen Ellinor is not a strong enough reason t. I o suffer through butt humor.be

That’s right. I’m sure that watching this movie will be painful. Especially since the one character I like is the villian. I’m sure she won’t die, but she will probably be humiliated. Actaully, turning into a bear is humiliation enough. Well, I guess that’s what fanfiction is for. I can save Queen Ellinor from the terrible movie Pixar has decided to put her in.

Why make the villian beautiful and the heroine not so much? Is this Pixar’s way of saying that their princess movies are going to be much different from Disney ones? Where Disney’s first princess film was Snow White, in which the queen is jealous of the princess’ beauty, here is the queen with the beauty and the princess lacking it.

Lover_of_Fiction, to answer one of your points, Queen Elinor isn’t a villain. It’s sure that Merida and her enter in a serious conflict, but the goal of the movie clearly isn’t to show Merida defeating her parents. Elinor becoming a bear is a an ā€œill-fated wishā€, not a victory. Rather, it seems that both Merida and Elinor, but especially Merida, will have to find a way to reconcile things up.

For the rude humor… This is also worrying me, and many other people on this forum, but I hope it will be kept to a minimum, and, more important, will not take over the emotion of the film.

Also… I’m happy to see another Cars 2 fan.

About the ā€œrude humorā€, I really don’t think it’s going to be as pervasive in the movie as it seems in the trailers. Also, I find it interesting that the Scottish don’t mind the comedy as much as us Americans. As for Elinor, it has never been said anywhere that she is meant to be a villain. She and Merida have a conflicted relationship, yes, but she is not meant to be the main antagonist. In fact, the story is based on Brenda Chapman’s relationship with her own daughter, so if anything, Elinor’s role is closer to being a secondary protagonist. The only character who’s been described as a villain is Mor’du the demon bear, but he is still very mysterious.

In short; relax and wait for the movie to come out before you decide to hate it. Who knows? You might be pleasantly surprised.

Who says a villain can’t be beautiful? It’s been done before. Not every female villain has to like like a witch. She’s not a villain anyway. Woody hated Buzz in the first movie so I guess that makes him a villain.

I think my favorite thing about the ā€œpretend I’m Meridaā€ joke is the animation. The execution kills it!

I love watching the ā€œFamily Legendsā€ trailer for Brave. It’s an excellent trailer thats more in line with the Japenese trailers for Pixar films. Less jokes, less rushed editing and more focus on the story and the emotional side to the film. I think the trailer’s second half is what makes it shine. Kudos to Disney for doing a fantastic job marketing Brave. Why can’t they put more effort into marketing their films?

Do you mean the Family Portrait ones?

Which one? There are three of those.

I’m referring to the theatrical trailer. The more recent one that was shown before Titanic 3D.

I love Angus! I have a toy Shire horse that looks just like him.

Just about a mounth till the release day. I remember when it was a year. Everyone was more exited for this then Cars 2.

Did anyone watch this spot?: youtube.com/watch?v=GiwrRcex … r_embedded

Not only the concept is stupid and unfunny, but this one is like a cocktail of all the bad taste jokes we’ve seen so far, plus some new.

Yaaaaay, only a month left! That’s not far at all. I’d be thrilled if I could see it opening night. I have to say I’m looking forward to this film more than I was a few months ago, and the new clips and trailers may have affected that positively.

I wonder when early reviews of the completed film will be released.

facepalm Am I the only one who likes the humor?

Probably.
