So I checked my local cinema’s website to see when the film’s released in Australia and the release date for the 2D screening is the 21st, like I was expecting it to be, but the 3D screening is listed as opening tomorrow (the 14th!!) :open_mouth:

All of the major cinemas in Australia have both releases listed as the 21st, so I’m really not sure what to make of this. It could just be an error, but on the other hand, Brave 3D is listed in with this week’s time schedule. I also find it kind of weird that it would be released theatrically before its actual domestic premiere at the LA Film Festival…

Either way, I’m going to be at the cinema tomorrow at 10:30 to try to see it a week earlier than I should! 8D

Have fun Draik! Let us know what you think.

Reviews are looking good so far. Now I wonder what our good friend Mr. White will say about this. I’m also surprised he didn’t even bother to review Cars 2.

Something tells me he would of loved Cars 2 given the negative reviews.

Knowing good ol’ Whitey, he’ll somehow manage to state that “Pixar stole the idea of a main Scottish character from the timeless Dreamworks masterpiece, Shrek, however Brave fails to live up to the glorious legacy that the Shrek saga left behind.”
Either that or he’ll jump to the conclusion that Brave was made only so that Disney would have another princess to market to little girls.

Anyway, it turns out that despite advertising the release date as today, Brave 3D doesn’t open until tomorrow, and I made a complete idiot of myself at the counter asking for a ticket to a film that hasn’t been released yet.
Looks like I’m gonna have to go in tomorrow before work. Luckily, the first screening is at 10:30am and I don’t start until 12:30. Plenty of time to watch Brave!

does anyone know the name of the music in this brave tv spot?

If this film does and up floping, I think we should jyst accept it. If were in denial and won’t accept a bad movie from them, then every bad movie they make we will always be super surprised like ther just a perfect company, which there not! People were in denial that Cars 2 was a flop. Every time a bad review came up some people were like, "They don’t know anything! They just hate the first Cars so there letting there hate in this one too!! And if it was a good review. “Their right! This movie is good. This person is a good critic.” It’s been like that for other films too. Oixar will have bad movies. It’s better to accept it then moan about it all the time. Some did that for Cars 2 and it’s still rotton on RT and may sites.

I really don’t think it’s fair to just give up on the film when you haven’t even seen it yet.

I’ve seen it twice already (went again yesterday) and I have to say, it’s definitely somewhere in my top 3 Pixar favourites. I actually prefer it to Ratatouille. I seriously doubt it’s going to ‘flop’, its Rotten Tomatoes rating is slowly increasing, and will probably increase even more when the film is actually released in the States. So far, Brave’s had 24 reviews. Toy Story 3 had two hundred and fifty six.
Give it time to get some more reviews and average out its final score before you make the decision that it’s a failure. Most of the rotten reviews compare it to Up and Wall-E, which is pretty ridiculous when you think about it.

Yes, it will undoubtedly get more reviews.

What is unlikely to change dramatically is the proportion between negative and positive ones.

I’m sure more positive reviews will come in, if they don’t then oh well. We just need to accept Brave is sub par, move on and hope the next movie will be better. And what we all need to keep in mind is that Pixar is a good studio, but it’s not a perfect one.

Because perfection doesn’t exist and thus would be unfair to hope for it.

With luck, people will understand that.

It’s down to 68% now. :frowning:

At least it’s better then where it was this morning.

Back to 71% right now. Currently has thirty one reviews, twenty-two fresh and nine rotten. But I just can’t believe that Madagascar 3 has a better rating than Brave, it has 75%.

It’s interesting to notice how Madagascar 3 is being described as a success and Brave as a failure when both have about the same score.

It’s obvious they’re comparing the product with its studio’s previous works.

I think this is the beginning of a new trend for Pixar. They would have to make a unbelievably fantasic movie to get the critics to stop these unfair comparisons. I think the critics are still upset over Cars 2, they don’t want to let it go.

Yes, but I wouldn’t say they’re rating Brave thus because of Cars 2.

We might have to admit that it isn’t on the same level as previous works from Pixar.

It’s true they might be biased. But so are we, and like Pixarfan said a couple of posts ago, we should embrace the fact that no perfect film studio exist.

Pixar is very close to it, but it might have a few flops. It’s only natural.

Even Spielberg, Hitchcock and Coppola have had flops. And nobody says they aren’t great filmmakers because of them! Film is a very unpredictable business.

You have a good point. Its just I’ve seen so many reviews of them comparing Brave to Cars, it was getting annoying to read. But yes Pixar is not a perfect animation studio, but they have sure have come close to it.

Who say’s I’m giving yp on the film. I’m saying that if it does flop (which I think it won’t and hope it doesn’t) we should just accept it and whine like a bunch of babys or fanboys/girls. I’m hoping to see it this weekend, which wil be the earlyest I’ve seen a Pixar film.
