Central Brave Discussion

Why are people acting like they’ve seen it??? It hasn’t come out yet!!

I don’t know if we can trust the Tomatometer for Brave. It seems the movie looks so beautiful that critics wil probably consider giving it a good review on that fact alone.

I’m not a fan of this trailer because there aren’t enough reviews yet to properly make a praise-spot. Most of the quotes are from the same people, and they almost all focus on the animation (or a snipet of the review talking about animation, but altered to sound like it’s talking about the movie as a whole).

Of course I won’t judge until I see the movie for myself, but I’m afraid the troubled history of this film has caught up to it. I’m still disappointed it didn’t follow through with the original director; I hope the DVD contains a feauture or a few storyboard-deleted scenes of what the movie would’ve been like with Brenda Chapman behind it. I know it most likely won’t however, for the same “Disney reasons” we’ll never see more scenes from the Toy Story black cut.

However, I loved the writing in John Carter. Perhaps it’ll be a good movie. Regardless of it being good or bad, I still think it’ll get a positive rating based on how the public percieves Pixar, which to be honest makes me a little sick inside. It’s always been like this, and it will for as long as people remember the past.

It was released early, on the fifteenth, in some countries as far as I know. I saw it then, it was just perfect!

Before Brave was released it was at 86 or higher, I think. Also some critics are too biased when it comes to reviewing Pixar/DreamWorks movies. Bottom line: Don’t trust the critics. You’re the Pixar fan, trust your own decision.

The projection site for Brave is up now. I always find it fascinating to look at some of the projection process.

Here’s the consensus on Rotten Tomatoes for Brave. “It may not live up to the lofty standards of the Pixar brand, but Brave offers young audiences and fairy tale fans a rousing, funny fantasy adventure with a distaff twist – and surprising depth.” I’m pretty satisfied with that, except for the young audiences part. What about everybody else?

From all the new reviews I have read that’s a pretty good summary of how critics feel about it. I’m going to guess its going to have more crude humor than we’re used to seeing in a Pixar film. But I think I can deal with that.

I think what happens is that this film is actually a Dreamworks offspring produced at Pixar.

After all, it was brought by Brenda Chapman, and the traditional Brain Trust hadn’t much to do with it.

The only real Dreamworks-y thing to the film was, like I posted in the reviews topic, a weird parody that takes place in the witch’s house.
Oh, and I guess there’s that “feast yer eyes!” line from the trailer.

If anything, it feels more like a combination of Disney and Pixar than Dreamworks and Pixar. Which really shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering Chapman’s work on some of the Renaissance films.

I just want to know how much of Brave did Mark Andrews change from Brenda Chapmen’s version?

I’m not too sure. I know they took out some of Chapman’s version of the film, such as 80% of the movie being in snow. I just hope Chapman’s mother/daughter story doesn’t clash badly with Mark Andrew’s more comedic style.

I would say his style seems to be more like slapstick, based on what the trailers have shown.

Yes, it also has a Disney ring to it now that you mention it, but I still also feel a Dreamworks vibe when I see the clips and stuff.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s the reason I get a very un-Pixar-y feeling with the movie.

I’m not sure anymore, Lol. This film seems to be all over the place.

I’m going to see Brave tomorrow. (Where I am, thats opening day, June 22nd!) This will be, lets see, the first pixar movie I’ve ever seen on opening day. Ill get you the consensus of how many people showed up, as well as my opinion of the film. Also, Crossoverstravaganza II to start tomorrow! Brave themed this year.

I’m not sure if anyone cares, but I did meet Merida while I was in Disney World on Friday! She looks great, and she has an accent. It was so magical ugh

They cut me and my mom off right before we were to go in, so after a five minute “rest” for Merida, they opened the gates again and since we were first I got to help her find the bear cubs! They popped up out of some barrels after looking a couple different places and she called them “wee devils” and it was honestly great.

Also in Epcot they have a whole Highland Games area, where you can shoot a bow and arrow and do a few little things like that. They gave away buttons telling you which family you were playing for (I’m a Macintosh) and a little picture booklet-type-thing.

Just in case anyone was wondering XD I don’t know if anyone’s reported that yet or not, but yup!

Definitely seeing this tomorrow. My little sister has shown some interest in this movie as well so I might take her along for the ride.

This will be the second for me, Toy Story 3 was the first one I saw on opening day. I’ll see Brave at 11:10am which is kinda early for popcorn, but I’ll live, Lol

Apparently the Pizza Planet Truck is [spoil]near the witch’s hands during one of the shots in the “Woodcarver!” argument.[/spoil] I didn’t see it the first time I saw the movie, but I’ll have to check again today.

Well I wasn’t destined to see this on opening day. The friend I was going with had to take his grandfather to his eye doctor because he developed an eye infection. :C I hope he feels better. I’ll be seeing this next week instead.

Oh no, that’s too bad. I hope he feels better too.

I’m not seeing it tonight because there’s a parade.
