I thought the same. Specially the part with the skirt. Blast, I cringed at that.
[spoil]Were-bears[/spoil] ?
i got the impresion that, [spoil]the lady who screams is ‘seeing things’,(she is imagining the bear creatures)[/spoil]
The trailer makes it look good so far. I think the comedy scenes like the kilt part were for the kids, they will most likely see it if it has toliet humor.
I hope you’re right.
Anyway, the director apparently confirmed it
I can’t help but think “How to Train Your Dragon” when watching the trailer. Which is disappointing because I was hoping Pixar would try to stylistically make the films look different from each other. Don’t get me wrong, I’m so excited for this! It’s just the toilet humor (which seemed to be very DreamWorks-like) and similarities are bugging me. But hopefully, the positives will out-weigh the negatives
Like I just said. I think a 10 year old will more likly see it iff they have toilet humor in it. Not a lot of it is funny but it is too them. Maybe they put most of it in the trailer.
I love it. Seeing all the haters in the Youtube comments makes it even better. I’m like, yeah, when this movie is the best movie ever made, we’ll see who’s laughing.
I love how they try to make you think you know the entire plot, when there’s probably something completely different…probably. It looks great visually, as expected, but I mean the animation looks really great.
I also liked how it says from the creators of “Finding Nemo, Up, and Wall-E”. They’re like, Cars? Toy Story? Never heard of them. This pixar movie is going to be srs bzns!
I’m hoping for some Monty Python references. Maybe an Army of Darkness (Evid Dead III) nod with hiding the pizza planet truck. (We already know Pixar has Evil Dead fans from seeing a news-visit to the studio where they were having Evil Dead II playing for the crew for Halloween).
But now I’m rambling. Yeah, pretty good trailer. It could be a lot better, but Pixar has rarely made stellar trailers in recent years, so I was kind of expecting that. The kiddie humor seems forced, but maybe it could be another audience-psych ala the Tangled trailer?
This, The Hobbit, and Dark Knight Rises, will surely have me in theatre seats come next year, to make up for the incredible disappointment of 2011 as far as films are concerned (although December looks promising). I can’t wait to see Pixar on the Oscar podium early 2013.
Those are my two cents.
I certainly hope they have.
Yeah, I’m a little torn concerning it too. This trailer just doesn’t really have the traditional Pixar-ness in it. Something just really feels… off.
But hey, does Merida remind anyone of Amy from Fly Away Home?
Like everyone else, I fear that Pixar is going to make a mediocre film full of bad jokes.
…Then again, I was worried that I was going to hate Cars 2 and I ended up loving it. I’m going to trust Pixar to do a good job.
The bad thing is Cars 2 got mostly negitve reviews. If this does too, it can really hurt Pixar.
The tone is all over the place in that trailer, but I do see enough scenes of genuine epicness to keep me excited for this.
I wish Pixar didn’t feel a need to cater to little kids in their trailers. I’d rather they just focus on the story rather than jumbling in some out of place jokes that are probably a lot funnier in context.
I think it was a clever idea to put ‘from the makers of Finding Nemo, Up and WALL-E’, three of their most critically acclaimed films, than Cars which is the one they seem to use a lot.
I can see what you guys are saying about the humour but I love the look and feel to it
GREAT trailer!! Loved it!
But, I’m getting kind of anxious now, like Spirit said. It seems more like a Disney movie than Pixar, somehow? Not just because of the female lead, but…hm… well, I’m sure that’s just my crazy self talking. It looks beautiful!
The trailer was just epic! I can’t wait to check it out on the big screen with The Muppets next week.
It seems to have more of a Disney feel to it, than a Pixar one. I see so many old disney themes in that trailer. From Brother Bear to Mulan. But still the trailer looks amazing.
I didn’t even notice that they didn’t include Cars in the “makers of” introduction. Good on ya, Pixar! xD
But ok. Initially I fangirled over this all morning and am still having small spasms mainly because I can’t even handle how gorgeous the animation in this film is. Merida is super legit and I think I am going to love her. However, I too am a bit upset over how the trailer downgraded from seeming like a serious film into a comedy. They could have held out a few of the gags, and let the trailer flow in the more serious vein - which is the kind of film I expected, and still AM expecting, Brave to be.
Though, comparing the toilet jokes to HtTYD is a little far for me. There were only two toilet humor jokes in HtTYD that I’m immediately aware of, or that I can think of, so saying the humor used in the trailer was like HtTYDs it a bit insulting because it is a step above most DreamWorks films.
Comparing it to DW films as a whole, however, is fine. I agree on that. Slap/hurt jokes and toilet humor seem to be their overall specialty. xD
But anyways, disappointments aside, I am still suuuuuper excited to see this movie and can NOT wait until next June! I honestly haven’t been this excited for a Pixar movie (yes… Pixar movie) since WALL-E. That’s saying something!
little chef
I don’t think the comparison with HTTYD was referred to the toilet humor. AS you said, that movie hasn’t a lot of that.
Anyway, I only saw one toilet joke on this trailer. I hope it’s the only one in the film.
Hmm, I might have misread the post. :o But I agree with the idea that the look of the film and the character voices are really reminiscent of HtTYD. I liked that in the sense that I loved HtTYD, so if it’s anywhere similar to HtTYD I am probably going to really enjoy it. (Though I know the plots and stuff are completely different, that’s not what I mean.)
And yes, I hope that’s the only toilet humor joke in the final film, too!
little chef
That’s a good point. I though HTTYD was going to have a ton of crude humor when I first saw the trailers, it turned out it hardly had any. It’s marketing was just bad. That might be the case with Brave. Sometimes trailers don’t give the film justice.
