The new trailers’ out! (really a clip)

trailers.apple.com/trailers/disney/brave/

I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a formal trailer, but I’m still happy with this. Unfortunately I already read a synopsis of the clip from D23 so there weren’t many surprises. One thing I particularly liked was the relationship between Merida and her father. A bit unconventional for animation and very interesting. The suitors were all amusing and I’m warming up to Merida’s design. And of course, the arrow-piercing moment was perfect.

It’s interesting that they’re shying away from showing anything beyond the first act. I’m hoping we’ll get a more conventional trailer down the line, but this works.

I liked the clip for the most part. I liked it when Merida came and shot her arrow.

I have also been saying her name wrong. 8D

I also really liked the clip  I’m really looking forward to the film now

I was also saying her name wrong

I have been saying more like Mer-i-da then Mei-i-da. didn’t know the r was silent.

I see from the clip that Pixar has some base, toilet humor. (The guy raising his butt as a taunt to the other guys showing that his son was capable of making the shot.)

I think Merida is going to fall in love with Wiglaf, which I am calling the guy who lives in his own head. She is definitely not going to marry the Gaston dude, and it would be ridiculous for her to marry the guy whose speech is incomprehensible. Maybe they could have a slight connection, since no one understands Merida and no one understands him, but in different ways.

And I am going to go on pronouncing Merida the way I have been, because I am still MAD at Pixar for dropping Newt and going on with this. And I still think this film will suck, and the butt thing is a hint that I am right.

^ I respect your opinion and everything, but you cant judge a movie on a 2 minute clip. That toilet humor clip has already featured in one of the trailers. Also you can’t say you are right, as there was Buzz’s fart gag in Toy story 3 and bubbles’ Fish tank gag in Finding nemo, and those movies certainly don’t suck. And…I don’t think pixar really wanted to cancel Newt, but there was other movies with similarities.

Anyway back on topic, i was a little dissapointd that it wasn’t a trailer, but i still liked the clip!

Ironically, I’ve always pronounced Merida’s name correctly, because that’s the way the word is pronounced in my language.

We even have a city with that name in my country.

Actually this nmw clip causes me to think of Merida in comparison to another famous fictional redhead–Ginny Weasley. In order for Merida to have learned archery, she has to have practiced it when no one else was watching, like Ginny took Fred and George’s brooms out of the shed when no one was there to watch her so that she could practice Quidditch.

Also, for once I am glad that Reese Witherspoon didn’t voice Merida. I have never seen “Monsters v. Aliens,” but someone said she sounded like Elle Woods in there, and Merida does not need to sound like Elle Woods. Besides, Pixar does not need Dreamworks leftover voice actors.

I really liked the clip, aside from that “feast your eyes part”. It’s got me even more excited for the film.

That’s understandable that you want to come here to get news and discuss movies. However, please don’t openly say you “really, really, hate” another poster. That’s not acceptable for the boards, and distracts away from the actually Brave conversation.

You have a right to disagree with his opinions and challenge them, but hatred is not something we encourage on these boards.

2 whole minutes! It was amazing! I love the accents, and the music in the last few seconds, it’s just so fresh and wonderful, the whole thing.

I loved that clip!! I’m so happy it was footage we actually haven’t seen before. It was just perfect to me. And that one little joke doesn’t offend me.

I feel silly, because I’ve been pronouncing her name properly, and I just now noticed that’s weird.

Interesting indeed. Is this a sign that they’re still trying to work out the story? Hope not.

Gorgeous visuals, but the characters and story should come first. If Pixar has a story as great as the animation for Brave, they’ll be set.

I love Merida’s relationship with her father from what we’ve seen so far. Her relationships with her parents seem to be a far cry from those of the other princesses. The parents in Disney’s princess films are usually controlling, bumbling, dead, or absent. I look forward to seeing what Pixar does with Merida and her parents. It’s a lot harder to go live your dreams when you have two competent, responsible parents to watch your every move, especially when those parents have very specific ideas about your future.

I love her relationship with her dad. What we’ve seen reminds me of my parents. Me and my dad are basically the same person, but my mom and I never agree on anything. 8D

I found this just now, some early impressions of Brave from a test screening:

Sad that both of the early reviews we’ve seen have been a bit lukewarm, but I have a feeling that they’ll pull it together and tighten the story further in the end. Everything so far has seemed great to me so I have a feeling I’ll enjoy it a lot.

Her relationship with her parent’s interest me. She seems to have a better one with her father. I wanna see what happens after Merisa shoots that arrow.

I hope the film turns out good, and I too want to see what happens following the arrow being shot.

I loved the new clip. I hope that the movie will turn out great.

Personally, what I’ve seen of the movie looks too good for me to view it as being anything less than the Pixar standard. I have high hopes but at the same time I can rest easy about this one, I think.

And I, too, am looking forward to seeing how Merida’s relationship with her parents is played out.

Not even Pixar could resist a going commando joke. A part of me is excited about seeing an original Pixar film after two sequels. But this new scene and the last trailer hasn’t gotten me excited about this movie. And some of the jokes don’t seem like something from a Pixar film to me. And I was feeling the same way as I saw more and more stuff about Cars 2. Hopefully the final trailer with get me excited.
