What are you guys MORE curuous about? What John will look and sound like or where the Pizza Planet truck is.
I’m more curious about the Pixxa Planet Truck. It’s probably easy to put Ratzenberg’s voice in a film. Not so much putting a pizza truck into a medieval setting. ![]()
I’ll be honest, nothing from the clip really excites me apart from knowing a new Pixar film is on the horizon. Then again, it doesn’t seem like an appropriate clip to wow people, but that might just be my opinion.
I also dislike most of the character designs, along with the humor in the clip/trailers.
But I do like listening to the music on the official website and I think, echoing what someone else said, a lot of the interesting, perhaps even darker stuff will seemingly occur in the second and third acts, and we’ve seen close to nothing from that part of the film!
Yeah, me too.
Not active dislike, as in some Dreamworks films, but most of an uninterested reaction to them.
The Pizza Planet truck, because that’s much harder to put into a film that is set in medieval times.
The Pizza Planet truck.
I kinda like the look of the characters. But I alway’s liked how medeval thing’s looked.
I really can’t wait to find out about the PP Truck. It’s sun to read all these theroies though.
No, the medieval part I like (clothing and stuff).
What I’m not loving is the human shapes of the characters.
I get what you’re saying^, the humans look a little too much like Dreamworks characters to me.
Hey folks! I had a little free time on my hands and wanted to discuss my thoughts on the Brave trailer/clip. I haven’t been around lately since school has getting in the way and being very quiet with what to say here.
Anyway, I loved the new trailer. I was a little upset that we didn’t get a full-length trailer but I guess this will do. The only thing I didn’t like was the humor that was shown. It feels like Up where it’s forced humor. I’m not too worried about it since I feel that the jokes will work in this film. The pacing here felt a little too fast paced and completely disjointed after going quickly from slapstick laughs to Merida fighting for her future. I did like the arrow piercing moment. Nice little homage to Ridley Scott’s Robinhood there.
Third time I’ve read this in a forum. Except one of those attributed the homage to Cotsner’s Robin Hood.
Both assumptions are VERY wrong. Cotsner’s film was from 1991, while Scott’s was from 2010.
Believe me, the arrow piercing device is much older than that. It was even used in the animated Disney version (1973), and a lot of times before that.
I don’t even know where it originated, but I’m certain it was used at least as early as in 1938, In Errol Flynn’s The Adventures of Robin Hood
So basically, any film involving Robin Hood has the arrow thing in it?
My boyfriend actually mentioned the same thing and he’s hardly a film buff. I didn’t care for it myself, personally.
I wonder if and when another full length trailer will be released… I want to see MORE. And not silly gimmicky jokes but the real heart of the story. I mean, I won’t really judge a film by its trailer (or a book by its cover), as previous Disney/Pixar films have left me concerned before going to the theaters, such as Tangled. I sort of expect “meh” trailers nowadays.
And probably most involving archery in general.
The new clip made me kinda want to see this, but then I watched a Phineas and Ferb episode called “Monster from the Id” or something of that nature, and realized Disney is ruining a beautiful thing by turning Phineas and Ferb into a show of butt and underwear jokes.
Anyway, I know that Pixar will never let Disney control them, even as Disney owns Pixar. Sure, Disney forces Pixar to make sequels and prequels (and eventually mid-quels). But Pixar always will have its leeway with its own work.
But that said, if Disney is willing to turn their work into butt and underwear jokes, I am only hoping that Pixar won’t do this, yet in this clip released, I already spot one.
Admittedly, this exact joke was utilized in Cars 2, and I have to skip that part whenever I watch the film. I could close my eyes when watching Brave at that part, since I know when it will happen thanks to this clip. And on the DVD I could skip over it like I do with Cars 2. But it does not change the fact that it disturbs me that it’s in there at all.
My one hope for Disney is that Frozen will be good. It’s just that, if there’s corruption in the mother company, how can the child company escape unscathed? Sure, when Ratatouille came out there had not been a good Disney movie in years…I think the last good Disney animated film before that was Brother Bear in 2003. But Bolt and Tangled both revived my faith in Disney, as well as Phineas and Ferb until recently. And now with Phineas and Ferb being revolting in these newer episodes, that leaves me with only one hope for visual entertainment, if Frozen pulls through…which is Pixar.
So I have to figure out if I am brave enough to see Brave, after Pixar has already revealed a butt-joke. I think it’s like someone said last year about Cars 2, though, which is that Pixar doesn’t have to show any good footage to be certain they’ll make a lot of moolah. Because many people still trust that if they go into a Pixar film, they’ll have a jolly good time. I can only think of two instances where I thought this and was terribly wrong…when I saw A Bug’s Life, and when I saw Up.
It just showed one joke like that. I’m not worried. They might have a few more, but if they do, they do. Do trying to target kids also and kids like those jokes. I’m sure most of them don’t laugh at the adult jokes.
The difference though, is that most kids do not recognize that a joke is intended when adult jokes are made in animated films. But adults know that this crude humor that is meant to target kids is meant to be funny, even if it’s meant to be funny only for the kids.
Just out of curiosity, do we know exactly what age Merida is supposed to be yet?
I don’t think we do^^. It would be informative to find out.
I would like to know too, because she looks 10 but she looks 14. ![]()
Her age is tricky to work out. I would guess around 13-17. she doesn’t look like an ‘adult’, and her parents [spoil]are looking for a husband for her (i think)[/spoil]
