I must be the only one here who isn’t despising that joke.

It’s not that bad. Is it crude? Yes. But it’s just one joke. If you guys think it’s that bad don’t see the film.

Tarzan tried to look under Janes dress, was that bad? Mulan had a few obiously.

They have done worse.

I do think both of those film did them in a more tasteful way, so no, it wasn’t that bad.

I hate it when people says that when one complains about something. It’s totally inconsequential.

Don’t like that gag at all! :imp:

I hate it when people flock to complain about something, especially a gag, out of context. It’s totally consequential. Buzzkillers.

I still plan to see the movie, but I hope that the crude jokes are kept to a minimum. So far, I think Fergus trying to talk like Merida is my favorite part.

I agree. I hope we don’t see alot of crude jokes in this film. I hope the some of those jokes are just false advertising.

I agree their shouden’r be much jokes like that. But if it’s just one it’s not a big deal. You don’y have to like it. But the ones who just keep saying it’s a bad joke is runing the film for us who don’t care as much.

Right. How can one joke just ruin the movie?

Still on the subject of crude humor, it won’t likely be significant in the final product, as has been the case with many classic animated films with lame fart/burp jokes, so it’s not exactly a big deal. It won’t ruin the movie. However, I personally feel that a film will lose more from having crude humor than it will from not having it. There are exceptions, perhaps, if the crudeness ties into the story, such as Shrek. Or something like that, I guess. You could say that my issue with the joke is how prevalent that type of humor is in general with animated films, not necessarily in this specific instance.

When I think of Pixar, I know many of their employees are inspired by Studio Ghibli’s films, but how often were there crude jokes in those? I honestly can’t think of any instances, aside from a certain… exposed body part in Pom Poko. 8D

Anyway, I’d like Pixar to be the one major American animation studio mature and wise enough to cut all crude flatulence jokes in their films, but I don’t think that day is here yet… :unamused:

I don’t think anyone said it does. Anyway, how does other people complaining ruins you guys the movie?

There isn’t any kind of context that may convince me that joke isn’t a bad taste one. Any.

There’s probably one, the context of you being too miserable and not open-minded enough to realize that a Pixar movie, or any movie, is not made to appease only you. If the people at Pixar, with their vast swath of family-oriented film-making experiences, deemed these jokes appropriate for the movie, and that they are necessary to balance an otherwise too dark theme, then I’d live with that.

You might feel sorry for me for not despising these kid jokes. I feel sorry for you for not feeling any excitement toward the movie as a whole.

I will admit to overreacting a bit back there, but I don’t see how Tarzan trying to look under Jane’s dress (which was completely innocent on his part) should be likened to this…

Like others are saying I doubt there will be much emphasis on it in the actual movie though, usually in trailers with a crude joke that has a ton of buildup to it and is supposed to be the ‘pivotal point’ that makes the audience laugh, it usually comes and goes without much attention in the actual movie. This luckily happens a LOT.

The bear falling into the maid’s chest was disappointing. For years I have loved the fact that Pixar would not pull a shrek joke. Sure Toy Story 1 had some stuff in it that was designed for children but then again it was the first of its kind to ever be made. It had the ability to do that.

Here is my opinion, the tradition of Scotland and the aura of this film is too bold and exciting to spoil with fart jokes, crude jokes, and flat out inappropriate behavior. This story really needs to be done well and professionally. Make it funny yes, just don’t bow to the low end jokes like Dreamworks has been doing for years.

On another note, i noticed in the most recent trailer that there are two black bears? Who is the second one? The witch? Does the mother actually have the ability to think inside of her new body?

Ok, now you’re directly insulting me.

I’m surprised to get that from you, because I’ve always seen you as a respectful member.

That kind of epithets aren’t allowed in here. Expect to hear more about this.

The rest of you can get back to topic.

I wondered that too Al.

Nah man, I didn’t intend to insult. I say it as I see it, and that’s the impression I got from the very beginning since I joined. I might have missed it, but I rarely heard any positive thing from you. Cars 2, Brave, Good Dinosaur’s name, etc. It’s pretty disappointing to hear that from a senior member of the forum as well.

Anyway, back to the topic… Brave eh? What an exciting movie! It has everything!

So, “miserable” and “closed-minded” aren’t insults?

By the way, look around. We’re not the only one who despised the joke. Most people is saying it’s tasteless. Same with The Good Dinosaur title. The common reaction has been to deem it as unsatisfying. And Cars 2 has got awful reviews from most people (in fact we’ve been one of the defendants of the film here!)

I think you simply are somebody who disregards critical thinking and yes, you were insulting when you said those strong words to my sister.

As I said before, this isn’t the way of this forum. Attacks on other people carry consequences.

May I on?

The Black Cauldren had a frog leap between a woman’s brest

Half of Hunchback was about a man wanting to r*** a woman and if she didn’t let him he would kill her.

Fantasia showed a womans brest uncovered, even though they didn’t look human.

Roger Rabbit has the “booby trap”

Incredibles had the “Got busy” line.

You guys see where I’m going. They do this all the time. Is the brest joke in Brave really all that funny. No, but if it’s there then youd should just get used to it.

What’s this critical thinking that you’re talking about? Looking at a gag in a trailer, which is by nature out of context, and immediately label it “tasteless” and whatnot, I don’t think there’s an ounce of critical thinking in there. You don’t even know who are the bears, you don’t know the relationship between them and the nurse/maid. Jumping at conclusion does not constitute critical thinking, I don’t think so.

By the way, it’s OK for you and your sister to share an account? Hmm it’s a dangerous practice. How the heck can someone tell if the opinions are from you or from your sister?
