The Visuals were great, but the story had some problems.
Yep. Between plotholes and bad development of the story.

Nevermind. But you have to have solid story work to backup those visuals.

I’m planning on buying this within the next month, I really haven’t seen it since it came out on DVD & Blu-Ray.
The story just felt like an absolute mess. None of this “Mater being mistaken for a spy” business. Focus more on Lightning and Mater’s friendship, the RS gang, and the race around the world.
A messy plot and plot holes are different things.
Yeah, but I was just expressing my opinion on what Pixar should of done with the story for Cars 2 or what it should of been about.

Yeah. I wasn’t answering his question. Maybe they could of put the spy-plot in the backround. It would of worked better, been a little more mysterious in a way.

How did Finn mistake him for a spy?
He thought his disguise was being a stupid rusty tow-truck. But, I would think Finn would be experienced enough to realise he really was that.
I think it was because Rod (The American Spy) put some sort of tracking device on Mater which signaled to Finn and Holley that Mater was the American spy.
