I think Ballboi means they wanted to show more of the Cars world.
Yep. That’s what I meant.
It’s just more Cars. Same earth just with cars.
Destiny: Those all sound so cool! …I want it now.
And the other 15% spent talking about him.
There is no doubt that Mater is Lasseter’s favorite character. I always thought that part of the reason was because of Ranft. And that’s the whole reason why Mater was the main character, just because he’s Lasseter’s favorite; which is not very good reasoning to me but shrug. Imagine if it was flip flopped; and Lightning was the one caught up in the whole spy plot. That would be quite hilarious actually.
Yeah, but we got to see different international places and what they looked like “Cars-ified” and different types of cars, different types of vehicles too! Like boats and planes. There were also a lot of different things shown that give references to how the Cars world is too.
You may be onto something there.

I would’ve much rather seen Lightning mistaken for an agent than Mater
It be much more intriguing
Yeah. At least he would help most of the time instead of Mater doing his usual antics.
What if Fillmore was the one confused for the spy?
Based on what I saw at the London scene, I’m sure Lightning would freak out.
LOL, I don’t think he would do much. “Whoa, I’m not one for confrontation, man! I’m a pacifist.”
That would be weird since I don’t picture Fillmore being part of the spy-plot.
He has had one to many of his drinks.

He’d just offer them one of his “Organic Fuels” frequently
Hey, I know this is kind of a pointless question, but when I was watching the film today, I noticed this little quip Mater has during his guilt trip flashback sequence before the inside-the-clock scene:
“Get it on, bang the gong!”
Is it a reference to this song? It’s a pretty often-played, popular song so I wouldn’t be surprised. I just found it funny.
I have no idea^^, although it seems like it might be.
When Mater got the timer on the bomb to stop did you guys also know it would stop at 00:01?
^Yeah, well, it clearly wasn’t going to go off
I just love the “Have a good day, smiley face” in the message. Possibly the funniest bit in the film imo
What I mean is that it’s overdone. It always stops on 00:01 or 00:00.
I love the smiley too.

I loved the smiley face
I already knew the timer was going to stop at 0:01 since that cliche has been done numerous times.
