Hmm, it’s hard to say because we don’t know too much about Carla or Shu. But I don’t see Francesco being in a serious relationship, so I’d say Carla and Shu.
Yeah, we don’t really know anything about Carla (which sucks 'cause I liked her as a character. ) but I think her and Francesco would be super cute. You know, if he ever learns to love someone other than himself.
It would be sweet if Francesco was kind of taught by Carla how to love others beside himself.
I loved Carla’s turn table, and I hope there’d be more of her in the movie, but there wasn’t.

I can’t pick! I was actually going to write a short story about a Fancesco and Carla pairing since it hasn’t been done yet but quite honestly I don’t think they would make a lasting pair. I think it would be all lust to begin with but Carla’s patience might wear thin with his personality.
A girl who can hold her own in a world like racing that’s completely dominated by men is awesome in my book. 
I mean, she was behind Francesco and Lightning in every race.

I honestly never imagined Carla with either of them, but I could sort of see Francesco now that the topic is brought up.
I see her with kinda the stereotypical knight-in-shining-armor character, chivalrous and strong and all. I mean, in the games,[spoil]if another car hits her she’ll sometimes ask if their mother taught them to hit ladies, and there’s a scene where Mater mentions Frank and Carla, not knowing who Frank is, swoons and comments that he sounds big and strong.

I guess Francesco could play a role like that. I mean, he seems to think he’s what every woman wants (and he might be right), but not to the point of being a womanizer like pre-character-development Lightning was.
I could see them bickering, and she whines that her boyfriend is so fragile, and Francesco just explodes into a torrent of Italian that may or may not be appropriate for translation on the forum.
…Pffft, chivalrous, big, and strong. If he wasn’t taken I’d almost think to put her with Mater!

I’m kind of glad you brought up that point about Francesco not being a womanizer 'cause I didn’t think he was one either. I mean, you can tell from the way Lightning treats Sally when they first meet that he was definitely one and Francesco doesn’t really act like that, he just has a big head. I can see Carla totally just ignoring him when Francesco goes on his monologues about himself. I could completely picture them as one of those “Fight hard, love harder” couples! They argue, they fight, they compete against each other but they still love each other. <3 (Dude, no one steal that. That’s my fic idea right there.

Maybe I’m reading into this too much (most likely) but it bothered me since I noticed it. At the end of [i:1st4d7w8]Cars[/i:1st4d7w8], we know that the R. Springs gang became Lightning’s pit crew but then in the beginning of [i:1st4d7w8]Cars 2[/i:1st4d7w8], we see Luigi, Guido, Sarge, and Fillmore-who all went as his crew to the WGP- welcoming him back from the season. And I just thought, "You weren’t with him? You’re his team! What?" So, I thought did Lightning hire another team (which makes no sense)? Did Lightning hire another crew chief after Doc? Yeah, I’m WAY too analytical.

Talking about prices - I paid $10 to see Cars 2 in 2D, and about $18 to see it in IMAX 3D. But the latter was after a 20% discount, otherwise I might have forked out close to a quarter-hundred dollars! 
That’s an interesting question considering that Carla is the only female racer and all the other contestants are blokes (which sort of means she would have had plenty of ‘suitors’ to choose from her colleagues!). I like the idea of Shu and Carla dating since they kinda look compatible appearance-wise (both have similar Le Mans-type bodies), but there’d be the language barrier unless both understood English or a common language. I like Francesco’s arrogance and c*ckiness, but I don’t think Carla would buy his pretentious façade. (This might an interesting fanart comic!)
YES. I was p*ssed personally because they didn’t devote enough screentime, not just for Carla, but to the other racers as well. You’d thought they’d at least have them say a few lines or exchange some witty taunts or remarks. It doesn’t have to be much - maybe have one of the racers flirt with Carla somewhere around the Tokyo dinner party, then later show them at the end holding tires or something. That kinda small and simple character arc would have sufficed! 
Such wasted story potential.

Haha, I played the demo at the mall the other day, and I picked Carla, but I didn’t get to hear her say that ‘Mother’ line. But doesn’t it sound kinda strange for her to ask that question? Like she’s endorsing [spoil]mums telling their kids to hit ladies[/spoil]? Or did she mean it in a “You hit like a girl” taunt? Ahaha, I can’t imagine a scene with [spoil]her and Frank on a dinner date! He’d be bellowing and acting like a harvester in a china shop[/spoil]!
A Mater x Carla pairing would be hilarious, cos’ she’d wear the pants (or sideskirts, if this was the Cars world). If he annoyed her, she’d roast him like a churrasco!

Maybe they go in cycles? So for one season, he has one team, and for another season, he has another? Or like you posited, he could’ve had Doc on his team for the season before the beginning of Cars 2, then he unexpectedly passed away and he promoted one of his current crew members to chief instead of getting one of the R.S. residents all the way to the next race. Then upon his return, he hired a fresh team and retired the current one.
I agree with what everyone is saying. I think that the other racers deserved more screentime. I mean, you got all these colorful racers and they don’t even get to speak. We did get some lines from Francesco and from Jeff Gorvette and Lewis Hamilton at the [spoil]party scene.[/spoil] I remember that in the internation versions Jeff is replaced by local racers. I liked it at the end of the movie where [spoil]Lighting has Ciao Francesco as a bumper sticker.[/spoil] I laughed a little bit seeing that Lightning got his little revenge on Francesco. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one upsect with how little screentime Sally got. I expected a little bit more from her since she’s Lighting McQueen’s girlfriend.
I agree with you all. I wish we could have seen more of the other racers. But I might also add that I’m satisfied with the fact that we know the story of some of these background characters, rather than just not bothering to pay attention to them and saying “Oh, they’re just a background character”. I actually like knowing about some of the little characters. Just my opinion, though.
You’re right, they do look compatible. I noticed that at the end of the movie when Sheriff and the racers are driving down the street getting ready for the R. Springs Grand Prix, Carla and Shu are actually having a conversation. <3
Totally! I wanted to see a scene where they all talked to each other, even just taunting each other like competitors do. We didn’t even get to hear most of them speak, I wanted to hear some more cool international accents!

Ahhh! I hate getting this behind…so forgive me for talking about old topics but…you had that same fan fic idea too SallyMcQueen?! Freaky! I am glad I’m not the only one who thought about it. And now that Netbug mentions all that stuff from the video game it reminds me that I really need to buy it! Or at least search the clips on YouTube.
Now, to what we are currently discussing…I think I already said this on another thread but my favourite part was the date scene at Well Wheel. And not just for the obvious reasons, but I was surprised at what they did with the place and I just loved how they turned it into a classy resturant/bar place.
