There’s something that I didn’t understand with Cars 2. Was it me or was [spoil]the tribute to Doc Hudson[/spoil] a little too short? It was only [spoil]that visit to his museum at Radiator Springs[/spoil] if I remember correctly. I would of liked it a bit better if McQueen kind of got upsect on the trip seeing that Doc Hudson wasn’t there. It would of added a little heart to the film which it lacked.
Ballboi: Oh, it wasn’t just you! Plenty of us have pointed that same thing out and I agree with you 100%. That was the perfect oppurtunity to add heart to the film and I think it was wasted. ![]()
Really? Ohmygosh. Canon couple. Haha, I might have read too much into that one. Maybe close colleagues? ![]()
I think Carla cried out during the [spoil]Porto Corsa crash[/spoil], but other than that, she didn’t say anything - they even muted her out when they announced her at the Tokyo dinner party and played ‘Finn’s spy theme’ as he enters the scene.
And yeah, for the way they were hyping each new character’s bios, we surprisingly hear little from them in the movie. Maybe Pixar didn’t hire a voice for every racer to save on production costs. But then again, Pixar has been noted for using its in-house animators’ voices, so I wonder why they didn’t do that, seeing they have such a diverse base of employees and I’m sure that they would be glad to voice a character even without pay! I know I would. ![]()
The Wheel Well really filled me with nostalgia juice right there… for a moment I was back in the theatre in 2006 experiencing Cars for the first time. It’s as if I had left Radiator Springs for five years and returned to new developments, like it was a real place and it progressed in real-time! ![]()
Yeah, I was kinda annoyed how they glossed over with [spoil]Doc’s tribute[/spoil]. I thought I was being too harsh, but I still felt it was too short even after the second viewing. It’s like Pixar didn’t mind really dragging out the melodrama at the end of Toy Story 3 to the point of unintentional hilarity (I’ve mentioned my friend and I as well as a few audience members laughed at Andy’s little gasp when we watched it in cinemas), but here, it was like they were too restrained to [spoil]want to give Doc a proper farewell.[/spoil] ![]()
I’ve watched some pretty good videos of the video game.
Cars 2: The Video Game Part 1 Walkthhrough
^^^They’re planning to do the whole game but didn’t upload a new one yet though. ![]()

It looks super cool and I want to buy it so bad! LOL. ![]()
I thought Doc’s tribute was way too short, also. It felt like “Okay, here’s the little bit about Doc. Now let’s hurry up and go on with the rest of the movie.”
I would of loved to see what you mentioned before. I think the lack of the tribute to Doc kind of caused me to lose the credibility of Doc and Lightning’s relationship. I mean, from the first Cars, we know that Doc became a huge part of Lightning’s life and except for that like 30-second scene;Cars 2 didn’t really show how much we all know Lightning misses Doc. If a scene like what you mentioned was in the movie, it would at least show that McQueen still thinks about him.
Hahaha, we never know! There might already be something going on between them. ![]()
She did. I actually like that crash scene for some reason.
Ahh, I noticed they did that too! ![]()
Me too! It looked like a place I would want to go to. And I loved Guido as a bartender. <3 Man, he has like three jobs: Assistant Tire Salesman for Luigi, Tire Changer on Lightning’s pit crew, and Bartender? ![]()
I had that feeling too! It made me go “Awwww…” <3 In the theatre, I actually said “Wow! This place really changed since last time.” like I’ve actually been there or something. ![]()
I remember I’ve seen a video of cars 2 videogame, someone was playing and lightning mcqueen jumps and says ‘that was for you, sally’ or something I don’t remember exactly what he said, but it’s something like that ![]()
Destiny: I’ve seen it, too! scrolls through history Ah, ha!

^^^It’s at 0:38; the music is so distracting but it is cute how he said that. <3
By the way, does anyone know if Owen Wilson voices McQueen in the video game? Because it doesn’t really sound like him. ![]()
no, is not Owen I think is Keith Ferguson the same from cars toon, anyway I love lightning saying that to sally, I love them I would like to see a kiss in cars 2 but… ![]()
xCarsLuverx oh yeah!! you’re right it seems that owen is who voiced lightning in the videogame too. I’ve never seen this video!!!
It’s better now ha ha ha ![]()
although it doesn’t sounds like him ![]()
Exactly what I thought! I felt kind of cheated out, like I understand if they can’t be main players, but little scenes like that add more character to the movie.
Was it me or did anybody else think that Holley was a little annoying? I mean she looks cute and eveything but I think I like Sally a little more then her. I can only remember one scene where I thought that she was annoying which was where [spoil]she was telling Mater to get out of the pits during the Tokyo race.[/spoil]
I realized that lightning doesn’t says ‘I stick by you the way you always stick by me’ in the movie as appears in the trailer or maybe I didn’t pay atention ![]()

Well,I did like her 10 to 20% ,but I kinda thought she was annoying too…
It’s kinda annoying how she was there too…but also a reason why I didn’t like her is because she was just "there" and after a while I got bored with her…her sole purpose is to be Mater’s "girlfriend" so that he’ll be in the same "boat" with Lightning. Whereas Sally, and even Carla could’ve had their character’s expanded more…They’re are so many good things they could’ve brought to the table…so much wasted potential…
I agree about Holley, I thought she was kind of boring and underdeveloped.
I did feel bad that the other World Grand Pre racers didn’t get that much development. I mean your going to be selling toys with these characters and they don’t even speak or do a geature. It would of been better if they went for what they did with the opening race in the first Cars where alot of the characters said a line or made a gesture.
Oh really? Yeah I can’t remember if he said that either.

This is what happens when you put focus on who sold the most…
Ballboi: I’m so glad you pointed that out! I noticed that too!
Personally, I liked Holley but not as much as I hoped I would. I agree that she felt undeveloped and Pixar could have done a lot more with her. I still enjoyed her and didn’t exactly find her annoying but Sally will always be my girl.

yeah there are a lot things doesn’t appears in the movie, for example I saw a video with Owen Wilson recording his voice and some of dialogs that he says doesn’t appears in the movie, who knows? maybe pixar recorded that because they try to make scenes with that phrases, but they change the story or delete the scene. I don’t know ![]()
Honestly, I still don’t know what to make of Holley. I mean, I liked her as a character and I think she’s pretty cool as a spy and cute but I- I just don’t know. The whole “girlfriend” thing with Mater throws me off.
LOL.
