While this has allayed my fears of it being merely a spy parody, I still remain somewhat concerned by the bits of toilet humour shown in the trailer. Hopefully these jokes are few and far between, and the rest of the film can maintain a serious enough edge to qualify as a legit spy thriller.
I mean, I’m totally fine with spy parodies (I’m a mash-up satirist, after all). But the fact that Hawaiian-Shirt Man (ie John Lasseter) made a promise that it is a true spy film, sets a higher expectation in my mind. And the real world of espionage is dark, deadly, and dangerous.
I really believe it will be a great spy movie. I’m glad John’s co directing, unlike with TS3. I think that’s what will keep this as good as the original.
No offense, but they should at least do better than the first for the sequel (think TS2).
John is the great mind behind everything at Pixar. But I hadn’t any problems with Lee being the only director of TS3, as it ended up being one of the best directed Pixar films.
No, I agree entirely. It’s just that if it was as good as the original, I wouldn’t be disappointed. But, like you said, better would be perfect.
in my opinion, what makes a great film is having a great villain. cars 1, didn’t really have a villain. chick hicks wasnt a great villain. He was more of a pest. plus cars 1, focused more on friendship and stuff with mcqueen since he was so full of himself But cars 2, has a villain. I have a feeling professor zundapp will make a good villain. cars 2, is a going to be better than the first. In that review, the guy spoke of dark themes like in toy story 3 which makes sense since this a spy movie
I think there are several elements that will make it better than the first. Japan!!! And the espionage theme of course.
I would say what makes a great film is a great antagonist, not necessarily a villain. Sometimes the antagonist may be a situation.
