Calm down? None of his extra stuff is an actual story. If you really want to play the Cars Toons card, shouldn’t you be happy Lightning is there? Sally is going to be in Cars 2, sorry if she only has like 4 lines and my favorite character has zero. 
That “Our Town” sequence was about the town, hence the title. Actually, if I wanted more Mater, I could just wait for June 24, no?

DJ is my favorite character because of fan fictions actually. The way people will make his character actually come alive is so amazing. You can do so much with a background character. Being one who reads fan fictions a lot, I usually don’t have a real favorite character until I see how people can expand on a character. After that, I fall in love with any! Don’t get me wrong, Carla and Holley have been really interesting to me so far, which is why I would assume they’ll both become favorite of mine. I can’t wait to see how they are in the movie along with everyone else! Back to DJ, I know it’s pretty strange, but I don’t know. I think he looks cool. I mean, come on, his eyes are violet and he’s a driving boom box! I like the whole DRH gang, but DJ always stuck out to me. One would think Wingo and his ladder butt would stand out. It did, obviously his laugh too, however DJ just always caught my eye. 
I adore all of the new character so far! I’m so glad to see so many new faces. However, I’m running out of room on my walls!

Guys, you can see the Pope in the Italy poster you’ll see the middle building. If you go to the top left of the middle building, you’ll see palm trees. There’s a white truck and he’s hauling the Pope. Can’t miss the hat!

I think the issue though, is that Sally was a much more central character in the first Cars film than a “background” character like DJ, which is why many fans (myself included) are really disappointed to see she won’t be given a larger part in the second. At least with the two other central characters Doc Hudson and Bo Peep who weren’t included in the Cars 2 and Toy Story 3 respectively, PIXAR understandably had justifiable reasons not to include them (Bo because her character wasn’t that strong and RIP Newman). I feel less so than Sally because she was much more the heart of the film than any other character, including Mater.
I’m fully aware of the reason DJ isn’t a central character. The difference is that I actually accept it.
Sally is only a love interest. Besides, they already said that Sally was going to be in Cars 2, but people are still complaining? First people complained that she wasn’t going to be in it at all, so now that it’s been shown that she’ll be in it, people are complaining she’s not going to talk enough?
Give Pixar a break. Imagine if you were writing a story and you just couldn’t fit a character in the next story because he or she didn’t feel important enough to be in the story and you had people on your back about it the entire time you’re trying to please them. All while it’s very obvious one character is a lot more popular than the other. Which would you choose? Naturally, the more popular one because that means you’ll get more fans.
Seriously, Pixar has gotten a lot of ridicule for the fact that Cars 2 is coming out because it’s Cars. The last thing they want to hear is people complaining about what they feel is a poor character choice.
Just because a person’s favorite character is no longer in one of the spotlights, doesn’t mean it’s going to be a bad movie, it definitely doesn’t make another person wrong for liking a different character, it really doesn’t mean you can have an attitude out of nowhere towards those people, and it doesn’t mean you shoot down everything they say about their favorite characters just because yours is different.
Keep in mind this isn’t being aimed towards you. It’s being aimed toward those who say things about a movie when they have no clue what it’s going to be like in the first place.
Every single person who saw the first few minutes of Cars 2 already said that it’s funny and it looks very good. Sure, one would say that it still isn’t the full movie, but it’s still more than anyone on this site has seen, so I’m sure they have a lot more ethos when it comes to judging.
I know what you’re saying x3haijessiex3 and I understand that PIXAR can’t possibly fit every single character from the first film into the sequel. That’s understandable.
My issue is, is that apart from perhaps Lightning, Mater and his pit crew Luigi and Guido any of the other characters they carried over from the first to the sequel (namely Sarge and Fillmore) seemed very arbitrarily chosen. I mean, Fillmore had like 12 lines in the entire film and Sarge less so. Favorites have nothing to do with it, it’s the fact that central characters are seemingly hand waved aside. It’d be like if Andy had given away Jessie and her spot was filled with Snake and Robot (all three characters I do love though).
It’s still too early to call anything though and hey, probably PIXAR will surprise me and give a really really good explanation why she can’t come.
Yeah, like she has two motels to run because one of the hotels she needs to run with Lightning, but since he’s busy racing around the world, she needs to work even more. If she hired people to run the other motel, she’ll be too busy supervising. There’s a reason that sounds pretty legitimate to me, but I’m sure Pixar probably thought of a whole list of ideas because they’re…well…Pixar.
Although you’d also really think the town would need their tow service and tire repair shop much more than a simple B&B owner.
I got your points guys… maybe Sally is not going with Mcqueen, Mater & Company because she will be the senior, mayor or something from Radiator Springs, she will be taking Doc’s place and replacing him on his duties
don’t be mad if she doesn’t get a main role in the sequel, she will be back in Cars 3 for sure

They don’t plan these things that far ahead. Someday, if they think of a new worthy story, they may do it. But probably not. And, personally, I would prefer if they just move on.
yeah, you are totally right, however this time I see Disney pushing for a third film, Cars 2 will be HUGE and its total sells will be higher than the first film (theatrical run, merchandise, dvds, blu-rays, toys, etc), planes spin off won’t be enough for them, but I also agree that if there is a third film it would be done by 2017 or 2018,
And Mater’s only a comic relief… When I make posts do you actually read it or do you skip around parts? 
Sally had a bigger part than being a love interest…See the thing is ,Mater’s character is not deep enough in the first place.I’ve gotten over my hatred for Mater, but I still think he shouldn’t be the Main character…And I’m sorry that some of us actually like other characters besides Mater,but her being “busy” is not a good enough excuse…really she was too important of a character.Let’s be honest with ourselves Mater wasn’t a big reason why Lightning stayed in the first place was he not? Then people talk as if this new Holley Shiftwell chick,is the female main character we never had…

I read your posts as accurately as possible, do you read yours after you post them? It’s not really surprising that your posts always contradict themselves.
Mater’s character didn’t even have a big part in the first place so how could you even say anything about how deep he is? You’re just proving that you know nothing about him, which just makes it make more sense that he has a bigger part in a sequel.

Being busy isn’t a good enough excuse? I’m sure you know a lot about running two motels and dealing with higher positions in running a town. Tell me if you’d have time to do that.
How about you be real here and stop centering every single thing you post around Lightning and Sally? The reason why Lightning stayed was because he finally found the slightest bit of family and friendship when he had almost nothing. Last time I checked, Mater and Lightning become best friends days before Lightning and Sally fell in love, if they even did at that moment. One must remember the movie takes place within a week.
It doesn’t state anywhere that Holley is a main character, just like nothing says Sally is a main character. Holley is going to have about the same role as Sally did in the first Cars. She’ll show her face a few times, have a few lines, be part of the story, and the movie will end.
You wanted Sally in the movie and now you have her in the movie. You’re honestly complaining about how small her character is? You know what, just don’t see it. You’re not going to like Cars 2. Just stick to reading fan fictions if your that obsessed with seeing Sally. Apparently they’re the only places you’ll see her. Problem solved.
Very true, so then we can sum it up to the fact that it’s a movie and it doesn’t really matter because none of them exist? I’m sure there are reasons, there has to be, but we can’t say anything for sure until we know for sure.
