When the heck are we getting an actual trailer for Monsters University? Pixar movies typically show a teaser in June (about a year before release) and then the first trailer around October or November. It’s now February. Seriously, when are we getting one? I’m really anxious to see what the movie will be like. The teaser didn’t show much.
I heard that we may be getting the next trailer within the next week or so.
NachozRule - There seems to be some smoke in terms of a trailer being released within the next couple of weeks… and when there’s smoke, there’s fire!
Like the next person, this movie is going to be really sentimental to me because of Monsters, Inc., and I can’t wait to see it - it looks like a very fun movie!
Where there’s smoke, they pinch back! Sorry, couldn’t resist.
I feel like watching Monsters Inc again, now that I’m in the workforce and working in a corporate environment (my HR rep is a lot nicer than Ross, thank goodness!). And it’s interesting that Pixar is doing Monsters U as a prequel, because I just graduated from university last year, so I’m definitely going to be seeing this movie with “nostalgia glasses” on!
I’ll be going on a media blackout, so no watching of trailers unless they screen before a movie I watch at cinemas. And no exposure to images unless they are posters at cinemas. Usually in my early years of fandom I would find this very difficult to do cos’ I had fewer distractions. But I did that for Brave last year and I think with animated films from other studios (like The Croods and Epic) and TV shows (like My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and Hawaii Five-0), avoiding Disney/Pixar promos like the plague should be an easy job!
While I’m looking forward to this I’m looking forward to Frozen more. I have a feeling this may be Cars 2 all over again. I hope I’m wrong though.
I could happen, but I don’t think so. After all, the first Monsters, Inc. isn’t like the first Cars.
With that franchise, it was bound to happen.
There seems to be more enthusiasm surrounding this project, so I don’t think this’ll be another Cars 2.
Still, you never know. With the critic’s hating Cars 2 and saying Brave was just alright they may be a little harsh to this movie.
I personally don’t care if this movie gets bad reviews or not. I’m still going to see it and I’m sure I’ll thoroughly enjoy it like I did with Cars 2 and Brave. It will make a great profit, and enough fans of the first film are going to see it and love it regardless. Plus, if they’re lucky like me, they’ll be able to relate to it due to them entering the university experience!
For those who can’t wait or are interested, here is the next first look at the film:

That first look actually tells a lot about the plot, which we didn’t know yet.
And, apparently, a new trailer will be released soon.
Kind of looks like Mike’s New Car in the back.

Very good catch!
Looks awesome! It seems like it’s giving away a lot, although I guess it’s just a very detailed setup and the “fraternity” stuff will end up taking most of the movie. Also, it sounds like that’s Peter Sohn (voice of Emile from Ratatouille) voicing the “this is my mom’s house” monster!
Yes, it’s Sohn indeed. His character’s name is Squishy.
Peter Sohn’s voice is so fitting for that character and I bet he will be as endearing as Ratatouille’s Emile! I love him already!
Very happy for Peter Sohn being in this! He’s one of my favorite Pixar actors.
That’s a pretty good trailer! I think it’ll be a great movie.
That trailer is awesome! A few things jump out at me immediately-
- Looks like we’ll start off the film following just Mike. I wonder if Mike will be more of the main character in this installment, or if Sulley and him will indeed be equal. From the looks of the trailer, this seems to be more Mike’s movie.
- The song “Now That We’re Men” playing from the SpongeBob Movie. (Even though the original instrumental is actually from the APM library, it’s still pretty cool!)
- Mike gets Room 319. A 2 in the front and we would have had a CDA situation on our hands haha.
- Hmm, it seems like Mike and Sulley ARE meeting for the first time in college. Interesting. I wonder if they’ll find out they met earlier but just didn’t remember, or if their previous interactions had been so insignificant they felt the need to formally introduce themselves.
- Mike and Randall sitting next to each other while Sulley drops his books on the ground in front of them. I’m just guessing, but it looks like Mike and Randall may have been friends at one point!
All in all, I’m so glad we FINALLY have a full trailer on our hands. I’m even more excited to see the film now!
That trailer was awesome! It’s looking even better than I thought it would. I hope I love it as much as Monsters, Inc. I wasn’t so sure at first but it looks like there’s a good chance. Yeah!
