we’ll find out june 21st.
Or before, if we come across something like, for instance, a spoilerific soundtrack
I’m near 100% sure the Dean is no villain.
If anyone must point an accusing “antagonist finger” at anybody, your probably closer to the mark pointing it to Johnny.
I agree. That sounds more likely to me.
The Dean is probably pretty strict…but that doesn’t make her an antagonist.
Au contraire, it does make her an antagonist, but not a villain ;-p
An antagonist opposes to the achievement of the protagonist’s object of desire on some point of the film. Which means even Boo is an antagonist.
By the way, I had a Monsters University dream today. It was somewhat long, but it was mostly about the part where Squishy’s mom drives them to the city, and also explained why Sulley changed his character.
In the technicals of things…yes that’s true hm hm. But she’s not evil/villainous of course.
Ho ho, also true, technically (by-the-word). Careful now, Boo fans may leap at you for saying such a thing
I assume many people are having dreams of some-what…lot can happen to think of hm hm.
Spirit, you make a very good point re: antagonists.
It’ll be very interesting where the whole villainy setup could go in this movie. The dean is a plausible antagonist, but personally I’m not really “feeling” it for the dean to be a villain.
I have a gut feeling that Randall’s competitive and narcissistic spirit may make a comeback…
I think Randall’s the curve-ball here. He’s already been put in an antagonistic role, if that’s what was being thought. My bet is still on Johnny, and I also bet that his influence brings out…well competitiveness isn’t a BAD thing (I mean, Sullivan/Wazowski/Randall aren’t cheaters or anything)…but I believe that Randall gets negative aspects from him.
I consider myself a Boo fan.But she unwillingly acts like an antagonist.
The antagonist character isn’t necessarily evil. That’s a misconception. If, for instance, the protagonist is evil, the antagonist may be a very good person. But in trying to stop the protagonist, he antagonizes him.
Oh good hehehe.
A reason I never call Randall a villain hm hm hm.
Well, the term villain is much more flexible, but what often sets it apart are moral precepts, so Randall is open to discussion.
nods
To me, MU has everyone being their own main-antagonist in a way, as well as being manipulated by outside forces.
quite frankly i dont think randall will be the antagonist since he becomes the mean one in monsters, inc. i hope hes not in this film. i hope we get to see a different randall.
I would say frustrated more than mean, but given the later events…yeah…
If it’s any comfort to you, it is almost an assurity that Randall will be shown in a different, more realistic, light in this installment.
On a side note…
My son Mike is a huge Pixar fan and is now scheduled to go down to WDW this spring with is HS band to play trumpet in the daytime parade. Being a Monsters Inc Mikey fan, we decided to outfit him with a MU hat and ID for the event.
That’s a neat idea.
Here are all new posters and IDs:
Now I know who Dave Foley is playing, one of those Terry/Terri Perry guys, the taller one I assume? The smaller one didn’t sound much like him in the trailer, or maybe I heard wrong. Glad he’s in it, though.
Just throwing this out there: Has anyone noticed how strechy the Monsters U. animaton is?
This looks like it’ll be really good. I had no idea Randall would be a geek. This’ll be intresting Randy being buddys with Mike that’ll be pretty funny. I wonder how he goes sour, maybe Sully came between their friendship and Randall took it personally?
Dean Hardscrabble looks very awesome and sounds very strict, I too don’t see her as a villain just someone who wants the best of students. Her profile on the Monsters University website gives great insight on her view of monsters and the scare program, she has high expectations when it comes to being a scarer. Good luck Mike. I hope they don’t pull a Waternoose like villain reveal because that’s been done to death by Pixar like Prospector, Charles Muntz and Lotso. In the trailer, she warns someone (Sully?) not to go in there as it’s dangerous, hmm, wonder what she’s referring to.
I like how this’ll star Mike as the protagonist and looks like Sully might be an antagonist during the first half.
Mr. Waternoose, Celia and Fungus feature and apparently according to the preview, Roz will appear aswell. How do you think they’ll fit in.
