New poster. I absolutely love the cramming tons of characters onto a poster. I’m never sure why people don’t like it.

Hehe. Those Goth monsters are hilarious.
Look at George Sanderson, by the way. I don’t spot any other familiar face. Which is weird, taking in account how many characters appear there.
Yeah, I was surprised that they didn’t put Celia on there. I have a feeling she’s going to be one of the goth chicks. But that’s just a hunch.
This is my absolute fave poster thus far! I love seeing all these new monsters! This different but insanely cool new look is just blowing my mind… XD
Also, that girl in George’s right looks somewhat like a young Miss Flint, but the “wings” on her head are in a different position.
Nice poster, but I always wish I saw more familiar faces. The same thing happened with Toy Story 3 and Cars 2, although pretty much all of the important characters ended up came back for Cars 2, thankfully. I only see Sulley, Mike, Randall, and George here, plus I know Little Mikey is in here. I hope some of the other main monsters show up. Yeti has to (he’s John Ratzenberger!), and the featurette from the Monsters, Inc. Blu-Ray suggests that Roz and Fungus will be back as well. At least all of them, I hope. Celia would be nice to have back although it should be fine if she’s not. I don’t think Waternoose needs to return since he was a bad guy and his voice actor passed away too. I just hope I see just a few more familiar faces, but I’m really not worried at all. I’m just anticipating, that’s all.
Whoa, what a fun poster!! The zaniness of it reminds me of the TS3 posters, it makes me hyped. I also enjoy the very purple-teetering color scheme of it, it helps keep the business on my eyes in check
I love these posters that feature a ton of characters.
Yeah, me too. They’re almost a Pixar tradition.
Dan Scanlon emphasised the sheer focus on characters - that poster only seems to cement his statement!
The two frats has now caught my attention, let’s see where they’re going with this
I think there are five fraternities, if I remember well: JʘX, PNK, RΩR, ƩƩK and OK.
Reminds me of the Cars poster (which I actually own a copy of and is hanging on my wall)!
It’s nice to see a younger (and friendlier) looking Randall. I wonder if we’ll see his “origin story” of how he became the Randall we see in the first film.
Also some peeps were cracking on my FB comparisons to Harry Potter.
The Lizard Who Lived. Cos’, you know, lizard rhymes with wizard.
My contribution:
Randall Boggs… the newt who lived… comes to die!
Not that I want him to, though (lest I incur the wrath of any fans of Randall)!
Yes, I think we will see his origins.
If you watch closely the featurette, you’ll see a shot of Randall, without glasses and a mean expression, in what I think is the climax to the film.
Alright, colour me excited!
I’m getting a very “X-Men: First Class” vibe from this.
I’m very happy to hear that Pixar makes terrific character-driven stories.
Actually there’s twelve of them… monstersuniversity.com/edu/greek.html
but I think you got the most important ones nevertheless.
I’m intrigued Celia doesn’t appear on the latest poster. I’m starting to really wonder if she will appear. There has been no mention of her anywhere, in trailers as in merchandise, or voice cast announcements.
I think SOA was just remarking about the Fraternities rather than including the Sororities.
blinks I…have little understanding where you were going with that…rap??..Theatre but…
Considering Randall is now shown as a quirky, geeky, shy guy…one has to wonder what happened to him. Person doesn’t change completely on their own after all, and considering his relationship with Wazowski and the ROR fraternity (of which Sullivan gets connected to), they’re more connected to each other.
Anyway…it seems Wazowski will take center stage in this installment, followed by Sullivan, followed by Randall, followed by the OK fraternity members (Squishy, etc.).
In some posters and the like, protagonists generally take front and center position while antagonists are in the back. As we see, Wazowski and Sullivan (while they deal with their own problems as their own antagonists) take the front, but Randall’s also there. So he’ll probably be in a protagonist-to-perhaps-neutral role here.
And lookie there, in the back there’s Johnny, head of ROR…
Considering Monsters Inc. is in the film at one point, I imagine Waternoose will make an appearance along those lines (or maybe as some guest speaker over at MU, or in the ending).
Fungus? Don’t know. He doesn’t seem to be the type to be in ROR, and Wazowski was his roommate…don’t know why people settle on him being Randall’s confirmed friend but…and I don’t think he’s in OK…didn’t see him in the scenes I think…
As for Celia…at the least we’d see her in the ending if she’s in it at all. Considering all that’s going to go on in MU…and especially considering Wazowski is going to be concentrating on dealing with Sullivan and his own scarer obsession…doubt he’d have time to form a starting relationship.
What scene are you actually talking about?
A quick shot of RΩR singing the University anthem.
Oh, the anthem scene. Yeah I remember Randall in that, hand over the heart with that serious look on his face as he sung the anthem (yeah you can actually catch him in a second singing it). Nice moment that. I mean when you sing the old Alma Mater on the field, it’s a solemn occasion, not something to really joke about especially if you want to show the pride you have for the college you went to. And judging from how Ran looked, not kidding around with the occasion, he was honoring it pretty well.
