Central Monsters University Discussion

Scores for anything are subjected to the same opinionative status everybody has. Not sure how ones such as Rotten Tomatoes do theirs…but it’s either one person reviewing the product in question or a group, and regardless, they have their own opinions.

It’s best left to the individual to judge for themselves. Of course their opinion could also be influenced by personal bias. Such as if it’s a sequel or a prequel, they may not like how something comes out, even though it actually makes sense.
So in reality, scores really mean nothing more than just a jumping pad some people use.

Oh geez your signature is killing me here nexas. Randall is adorable.

I’m wondering if Randall in this movie is going to destroy me or not.

I agree. From what I’ve seen, Randall seems to be extremely adorable in this movie, and I’m sure a lot of people agree with me on that. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, did y’all know Sulley in Dutch has the same voice actor as Manny from the Ice Age movies in Dutch? Now you know! I hope said voice actor will be able to voice Sulley once more in Monsters University. If he does, as well as the rest of the original Dutch cast, I might be less reluctant to see this film in Dutch. (Monsters, Inc. is one of the rare Dutch dubs I tolerate to the point I like it as much, possibly even more than the English one.)

Thanks Mental, was the…prime perfect image to show Randall as his good self, to show that as a kid (ignorant…naive) he was a good person.

Oh Randall is badger. He’s shown to be kind, considerate, and helpful. Heck, he even helped Wazowski with his grades.
Some people might think it’s out of character, like Sullivan’s portrayl. But honestly it’s not. In the days of college, we were still kids for the most part, entering a chapter in our lives that changes our outlooks.
Sullivan WAS a jerk. Overconfident, self-obsessed, without much care. But he grew from it, becoming a nice some-what non-confrontational guy who did his job. He changed for the better.
Randall? Well…something happened to him…heck even later more happened to him. Despite hanging in there…we see him snap.

Oh geez, MORE RANDALL DISCUSSIONS? Honestly, let’s try to discuss something else other than Randall, especially when we are putting him in leather pants. How about the new sneak peek? And I’ll tell you why I’m excited about it!
Here, it appears that Sully and Mike are NOT starting out as roommates, at least before their stay at Ozma Kappa.

So who is Mike’s roommate?

Well if you like at the next bed, it’s purple. And a poster saying “the Winds of Change”, which means that…
Oh wait, I just discussed… palmslap

Leather pants comments really leave a bad taste in my mouth…it’s certainly not a Misaimed Fandom. Though if you were just joking…

Yes. Since it’s obvious by now for those who paid attention…RANDALL is Wazowski’s roommate at the start, NOT SULLIVAN. At the freshman dorm, Randall is the scare major mentioned and ironically who Mike thought would be a “lifelong friend” of sorts. In fact, as bizarre as it sounds, they were on a level that insinuates FRIENDSHIP. Of course, that all changes when Wazowski doesn’t listen to Randall’s advice and him and Sullivan get kicked out of the Scare Program, leading to separate fraternity struggles.

I was aware of it for quite some time as I did see that coloring book spoiler… though did the book spoil anything about an advice from Randalls that Mike missed? Don’t recall that?

But just happening to run into the sneak peek while watching Disney channel of Sully climbing into hte room and catching those signs was fun.

Ah yes the coloring book…a very good shot of Randall (or Randy) there. You can actually see him, albiet very hard, in the first European trailer. His glass and fronds, but you have to catch it when Wazowski has the door open.
As for the advice…it was merely a few words that should have convinced Wazowski to “let it go” basically when Sullivan acted like a jerk. Randall wasn’t very confrontational as a kid, so tells Wazowski to just move along with him. In the end, didn’t listen. The result? Him and Sullivan get kicked out of the program. Won’t say why though.

MU has had QUITE an ONSLAUGHT of preview material. We’re talking a website, trailers, tv spots, commercials with products (swifer anybody?). Even when it was said the last trailer was out, more kept coming.

Any spoilers on the score track names?

I haven’t wanted to read them just in case.

I’m not leather pantsing him! D8 I just thought he seemed adorable. I just… call a lot of things adorable. …I need to learn some new adjectives. :stuck_out_tongue: Please tell me adorable is an adjective. I’m no good at English sometimes.

Anyway, that clip was interesting. I gotta keep myself from watching more, though, don’t wanna spoil myself too much…

Track names SoA? So far as I know, no. I think some people have post music vids of some of the scores, but outside that, I don’t think they’ve been out.

Ahh ok, just making sure :sunglasses:
I believe the term that’s been used is…“adorkable” heh heh.

There is a LOT of material out there for MU. Far more than for other pixar films if I recall, and that’s before it’s even released. They are really pulling out a lot of stops for this one.

I’ll reword my question.

I’m not asking if the names of the tracks are out. I know for a fact that they are. You can find them on the net, either on a Pixar news website, or something dedicated to film scores, or a selling site, like Amazon.

I just want to know if somebody has read the titles of each track, because I’m afraid of doing so in case they have spoilers on them.

@Spirit of Adventure- YES. The soundtrack titles contain spoilers.

Thanks!

Maybe I’ll get it before the film, as always, but then I’ll have to play it without reading the tracks.

I’m sorry, but I’ve forgotten. Who’s composing the score?

I think it’s Randy Newman.

Yes, Randy Newman, so I guess there’ll be a nice feel of continuity.

Spoiler about Randall:
I just saw a storyboard image(so who knows if this actually ends up in the film)…but remember the cupcakes Randall was going to give out that said “BE MY PAL”? Well, a few of them end up getting smashed into his face…the cupcake with the L, the one with the A, the one with the M, and the one with the E…spelling out the word “LAME” on his face.

SO MUCH B-ROLL FOOTAGE.

I will probably be watching these. Before the movie. Yes, you can call me crazy.
