College

I GOT IN!!!

I still don’t know where I am going, as I am yet to hear from 9 other schools, but I got into Clarkson University!!!

With their Digital Arts and Sciences program, if I go there it’ll be a GREAT first step to Pixar!!!

I’m SO EXCITED right now!!!

If this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it, as I’m still learning my way around.

…EEEE!

claps Bravo! Getting into your first pick can be very exciting. A lot of people have to settle for second or third choices

Yay, congratulations Sarah! That’s so exciting, especially as it’s your first choice! Well done! So, that’s another step closer to Pixar for you…

That’s cool that you’re able to apply to 10 different places, we’re allowed a maximum of 5 here. Not having to whittle down choices so much would’ve made life a lot easier!

Oh, and I’m just going to move this to the Members, Inc. section if that’s okay.

I personally will not give the name of the college I got accepted to, as it’s close to home. However, I WILL say that it’s got all the academics I’ll need, including an upcoming music technology major!

I’m only a junior in high school, but when I graduate in 16 months, I want to go to a community college and then transfer to Chapman University and major in Film. So yeah, those are my plans for the next 4 or 6 or however many years that’s going to be. :stuck_out_tongue:

For anyone still in high school , see if you are elligible for dual enrollment. It is such a GREAT program!!

I just visited one of my university choices today, and I am completely in two minds about everything. I liked it, but I can’t tell whether I liked it enough. Anyway, I’ve still got one more to hear- I’d sort of semi ruled this one out because it’s five hours away, but I now realise that I might deal with the distance if I like the uni enough. That’s if I get an offer, of course. I hate not knowing what’s going to happen in the future.

Right now, I’m attending a junior college. I’m gonna stay for one more year until I transfer to a 4-year school.

I’m really excited again - I just heard back from another school, Drexel, and I got in!

We went to visit yesterday, and took the standard tour, info session, etc.

Then we went to the computer science department for a tour!

THEY HAD THE MOST AMAZING HALLWAY EVER. They do a LOT of research in graphics, and the hallway had a bazillion movie posters.

They had a poster of EVERY Pixar film except for Up, and I’m told that’s because the posters were put up before it came out! I also got to talk to a grad student who has interned at Dreamworks and hopes to work there or at Pixar! Eeeeee!!! The head of the department said that they’ve even had a student who did their co-op at Pixar. (Co-op is a 6 month internship, but you are paid, and you don’t get coffee, you get actual work experience.)

lizardgirl - You should visit everywhere you apply, and talk to professors in the deparments you want to go to. I’ve found that what makes me go from liking to loving a school. Both Clarkson and Drexel were just schools I’d heard of before I visited the departments.

Got accepted to UW Milwaukee school of architecture and urban planning! I’m really excited because this fall they are apparently merging an art and architecture degree, and (they tell me) it’s a great step towards Pixar, and guarantees me a job should I not make it to Pixar someday. really excited about this.

Nice one, DPA113! That’s great that you’ll be able to get jobs easily with a degree from there, something that’s so important considering how difficult it is nowadays.

Just heard back from my last university choice yesterday, and it was unsuccessful. Not the end of the world, but it’d definitely decision time now. So, this is what my Track has ended up looking like-

So glad the waiting is over!

I just put my deposit down on Clarkson University and am SUPEREXCITED.

 I’m going to double major in Digital Arts and Sciences, and Computer Science. It’s a gorgeous campus is a rural town with tons of friendly people and great music because of the music school at SUNY Potsdam which is like 4 minutes away and everything is wonderful today.

Congratulations, Sarah! Bet you can’t wait to get started.

I am!! I feel like this is my first step towards Pixar, and it’s a great school.

Wow, that’s cool that Ed Catmull went to the same place you’re going. Sounds like you definitely made a good decision with that college, DNs24voices! Congratulations!

Congrats DNs24voices. It’s pretty awsome you are going to Mr. Catmull’s alum. Being a film major is also one step closer to Pixar.

Wow, the same school as Ed Catmull? That rocks!

Exactly what I’m doing! I don’t have the money or motivation to go a 4 year right out of High School. It’s about $2,000 a year to go to my junior college including gas money and I made aournd $5,000 in scholarships this year (mostly agriculture ones) so I have my 2 years of Junior College paid off. Time to start saving up for California State University tuition!

I love reading everyone’s storys about getting into their college, and dreams of getting their degrees so they can work in animation! Super inspiring!

This fall I’m starting at a community college. Once I finish that, I want to get a computer science degree and be a game dev! I’m learning C# currently.
