Violet Parr- Your room is sounding really cool! The more purple, the better. And congrats on your report card!

Hmm, know what you mean Hannahmation, it’s difficult when a lot of things pile up at once but you have to keep going anyway. And applying for an internship at Pixar? How exciting! You’ll have to let us know how it goes! Plus, well done for getting one of your pieces into an art museum. If I were you I’d just stand there watching it and then ask people what they thought of it without revealing that it’s you that made it.

DPA113- I hope whatever it is sorts itself out, though it’s always nice to know that there’s such a friendly community on here to chat to if you ever need to. Same to you, Danachii- Pixar Planet is a good place to vent!

Mood: Not brilliant.

Reason: Biology exams this week, still waiting to hear from my final university choice (because after looking at my application for five months, they still haven’t made their mind up) and I recently split up with my boyfriend…I knew it was the right thing to do but it’s still a bit weird suddenly not hearing from him and that sort of thing. I guess for now the best thing to do is concentrate on schoolwork and getting the grades, plus I’ve got my job to keep me busy.

Mood: Swamped

Too much to do and too little time really. I’m still finalising the blend shapes on my elephant character for my final short film (theres a picture of him in the non pixar art section). I also just found out I have a work in progress deadline for another module on friday. I’ve yet to start this module so tonight is likely to be an all nighter.

Hannahmation: Good luck with applying for an internship at pixar, and with the 11 second club. I’ve yet to enter that, my uni work keeps me too busy, but its something I’m going to try do one month at least

Mood: Adventurous

Reason: There’s this older computer we have that we used to use for school, and it hasn’t been working so it’s sat over at the cold, unused office for over 4 years now. I decided to turn it on to see if I could get stuff off it sometime last year, but it didn’t turn on. After playing around with the power cord and stuff in the back, it turned on - but started smoking. I haven’t touched it since.

Recently I started wondering about it, so I pulled it out, took it apart and made sure everything looked normal (I don’t know much about computers so I assumed everything was okay, since nothing was burned-looking or anything ). We turned it on and all the fans started going and stuff, but nothing came on the screen. From what I’ve been reading online, it’s something gone bad internally, but I might be able to save the hard drive.

So here’s why I’m feeling adventurous: I’m gonna take the hard drive out (MYSELF muahaha :smiling_imp:), move it to one of our other towers, and see if I can’t get files off of it. Thing is, the way this computer was laid out, it was in a flatter, more compact case, so the CD drive is basically screwed on top of the case the hard drive is in. And it’s not gonna be fun to remove that honking thing. :open_mouth:

I’m gonna work with a friend on this, who knows a lot about this kinda stuff and who has worked on computers in the past. I’m just hoping I won’t run into security issues, and that I don’t ruin anything on our computers also in the process. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mood: Kinda relaxed

Reason: It has been a long week of hard studying. For a few days, i can really lay back.

Mood: mixed

Reason: so today after school I had an improv club meeting and we discussed what we were going to do in regards to our club joining the improv league called Comedysportz, and we had a vote and decided that we had already put a lot of work into getting into the league, so we decided that we were going keep going into that, and then our vice president said that he didn’t like where the direction of it was going, and he quit right there, he said he’ll still support us and stuff, but he bassically said he doesn’t want to be a part of it and that he’s officially out. And yeah, that really sucks, I’ve done improv with him since my Freshman year of high school and it sucks to see him go, he really was a great actor. :frowning:

But… Other than that, I went with some friends to hang out at a McDonalds after school and then we came back to school to watch our school’s presentation of “West Side Story”, and OMG, it was sssoooo good! I absolutely loved it! I’m so glad I could go! And tomorrow I get to usher for the show. Should be a blasty

lizardgirl - Thank you. :3 <3

At the moment, I’m feeling extremely exhausted but relieved and happy at the same time. Reading week officially started for me, so now I finally have time to catch up with everything I missed and get a whole ton of projects done.

Mood: SO happy!

Reason: I’ve finally bitten the bullet and gone with Royal Holloway, University of London! I have to admit, Founder’s Building swayed my decision. Google it if you’re interested.

Can’t wait to start there in September! squee

Mood: Awful. :frowning:

Reason: Stuff going on + PMS = absolutely crappy mood.

I went uptown to get something I forgot at the store, and started crying at some of the songs I was listening to. I got home and my dad saw that I had been crying, and said, “It’s just a stupid bag of ice”, thinking I was crying over the dang ice I forgot, when that’s completely not the case. :unamused:

Blah, I need love.

lizardgirl- Thanks  ! Congratulations on getting into the university! I hope everything goes good for you!

little_chef_eva09- Aw, sorry you’re not doing so great :frowning: . Something like that’s happened to me once before. I was talking to myself/ acting in my room, and I started crying. My mom came in thinking I was upset when in reality, I was just pretending. I hope things get better for you soon!

Current Mood: Eh,

Reason: Well, I’m happy cause I just got to talk to a really good friend of mine  ! But I feel kinda bad, cause I feel like I’ve been slaking off of everything-- Pixar Planet, School, writing, my friends, you name it. Except my drawing has increased dramatically! I just feel overwhelmed when it seems nothing is happening anymore. Like I just can’t come out of the phase I was in just a short while ago. Also, I’ve been trying to get closer to God, but I have a lot of questions, and it seems though I’m really trying, it’s not working. I know, He will help me eventually, He always does, I just gotta work through it. Just gotta figure out what bad habits to kick and what to spend more time on…

I love reading what’s been happening in everyone’s lives. To those who have been feeling a bit under the weather lately, I hope that things turn around for you guys soon, and to those who are faring well, I say that that’s good to hear!

red - Ha-ha. I sent you a note on deviantArt a few days back in regards to what’s been happening to me. I’m feeling significantly more upbeat now, though. Thanks, red!

Speaking of which, I hope you feel better soon! PMS is not fun. If you ever feel like talking, I’m always up for a chat on Twitter, or, if we schedule a time for it, the Pixar Planet Chat Room.

lizardgirl - That’s really cool that you got to visit Paris! I’ve always wanted to go there. Oh, and have fun at your new university, by the way!

Thanks, lizardgirl! I’ll definitely post up those pictures soon. As for myself, I’ve been feeling much better lately. Thanks, again!

Mood: Neutral/Passive

Reason: Regarding those mixed emotions, I finally snapped out of it. It took about a month, but I snapped out of it. I’m still in a state of sentimentality, but I’m not “over-the-edge” emotional about it anymore. There is something I’d like to reveal, but it’s not my place to say. Well, in any case, I’m not gonna worry about it.

In other news, I’ve been assisting my mom with some work that she’s been doing for Disney Studios. The stinkin’ company has been grinding its workers to the bone to get the project done at the last possible second, but my mom is happy to have the work… and I’m happy to help her out. All it is is some in-between and trace back work on the character of Pumbaa (from Disney’s The Lion King), but It’s a good trade-off – she receives assistance and I gain more experience in the process. Any opportunity I can get to help my parents out with traditional animation is one that I’ll take.

Mood: refreshed

Reason: Currently been getting back into the mood of writing Star Vacation. I’ve seriously dropped it for a while, but I’m going to set myself to work on it again.

Thanks, Violet Parr! And don’t worry, everyone has times in their life where you sort of fall behind with everything, especially if you have a lot of commitments. Glad to hear that you’re drawing a lot though- a creative outlet always seems to help.

And thanks to you too, Mitch! That’s so cool that you’re helping your mum out like that, the experience must be invaluable, so well done for making the most of it.

lizardgirl - You’re welcome, and thanks! You’re right: It’s a great opportunity. We just finished up all of the work, actually. I wish we could keep the original animation, as it’s adorable. Heheh.

Mood: Happy
I was suspended from the forum for using for very bad language, but now I’m UN suspended!

Mood: optomistic ;-o

Reason: I don’t know, I feel good, I like this feeling, like, all day, I just woke up like this I guess  Which is weird cuz I usually wake up in a bad mood…

Mood: Inspired!

Reason: Sketching out my characters from Star Vacation, which I haven’t done in such a long time. I’m thinking of re-doing Leticia’s uniform, however, and I’m also planning to draw the hologram form of the Postulate computer. (Yes, she has a hologram form!)

Mood: Over-The-Moon Happy

FIVE reasons:

  1. I had a blast chatting with various Pixar Planet members on two consecutive days. More people should be using the Pixar Chatroom… it could be The Love Lounge of Pixar Planet (except you don’t have to crawl through an air duct to access it! :stuck_out_tongue:).

  2. I watched two amazing trailers on Monday: the final trailer of Toy Story 3 and How To Train Your Dragon. After their respective underwhelming teaser and first trailer, the last one’s always the best! I’m so pumped for both these movies more than any at the moment!

3)4) Another Malaysian restaurant opened near my place! And I ate there for dinner. The surprising thing is there’s another one only one shop unit away. Talk about competition!

  1. Alice is opening tomorrow! I’ll see if I’ll be watching it this weekend.

  2. I attended a SIGGRAPH seminar at my school a few hours ago, and one of the speakers worked at Pixar and Disney before! He compared the different practices at both studios. Disney for example, has a high turnover rate, removing two animators in each animator team after every film cycle, while Pixar has on the other hand, has too many animators under each lead.
He cited inefficiencies in production communications at Pixar too, along the lines of:

“So you’re an animator in a production team. One day, two people will come to your room and tell you to do the scene in one way. And then the next day, two more people will enter and tell you to do it another way. And then when you finally show the daily to the director, he tells you that you had it all wrong and that he wants you to do it differently, which was the idea you had in the first place.”

Again, it’s not exact transcript (from my hastily scribbled notes), but the idea I get it is the command chain is not very organized in Pixar, which could be a good or a bad thing, I guess. He did say one good thing about Pixar, though. One person questioned whether as an animator you’ll have to deal with ever-changing model rigs, and one speaker agreed, saying you’ll constantly be receiving updates and you’ll have to update with it. The Pixar guy says “Pixar never does that. They hand you one model and you stick with it.” Again, this can be seen as a good or bad thing, but I guess it makes things easier on the animator’s part.

I googled his name, and I’m not gonna reveal it here (although since he no longer works there, and he chose to wash Pixar’s ‘dirty’ and ‘clean’ linen in public, I’m under no obligation not to), but let’s just say he was one of the animators on Wall-E and he looks like Sean Connery.

Mood: Hungry

Reason: I haven’t eaten breakfast. But have no fear! Lunch tie in about 20 minutes.

Mood: So happy that it is so hard to describe in words but I’m going to attempt to do so anyway.

Reason: I just recieved my Living Dead dolls Alice and White Rabbit dolls in the mail just about half an hour ago. They look entirely awsome and even more so, Alice looks better in person than she did on the site…now all I need to do is buy a new shelf to display them and try to find somehow the Cheshire cat doll…

Princess_Darkness: OMG, those sound sooooo cool!

Mood: Relieved, happy, anxious, accomplished

Reason: So for this semester of Bible school, we had to read the entire Old Testament in only 8 weeks… and if anyone knows the Bible, the OT is pretty much like 80% of it. :open_mouth: We got behind about 3 weeks, so I had to catch up a LOT. I FINALLY finished my reading today, and I know I’m going to ace the exam we’re having tonight. I’m a little nervous, but I have a good feeling I’m gonna get a really good passing grade.
