Did anyone notice things in the trailer that did not appear or were changed in the movie? The most significant thing was a fully detailed and finished area of the Axiom in the trailer. Take a look:
In the trailer about 1:38
And in this featurette
video.google.com/videosearch?hl= … =N&tab=wv#
About 1:12
I didn’t notice anything different.
While I can’t get that video to load, I saw one frame from a few seconds before the 1:12 you mentioned, and it was of WALL-E zooming towards EVE’s ship, so I assume you mean the part when EVE’s being returned to Axiom and seems to scream out for WALL-E in the trailer.
I haven’t seen the treailer since I saw the movie, but I think the sound was re-cut in it by whoever made the trailers to make it seem like she was calling out to him. They did a few things like this to lead you in a different direction than the actual storyline.
I also noticed that they (thankfully) changed the line in the escape pod from “You are now free to move around the cabin” to “You are now free to move ABOUT the cabin” which is what they actually say on airplanes.
No, no. It’s a big, neon-lit area, similar to that of the one you see in the movie, except it looks Japanese and it looks like it holds many humans.
The area you see in the movie:

Hmm…I thought I saw that in the movie, too. I’ll look again next time I go see it.
Yeah, I noticed all the missing scenes, too. Not that there were a lot, but still
I guess we’ll get to see them on DVD!
I’ll have to see it again to be sure, but now that you mention it…
OOH! STORY BOARDS!
I don’t remember that exact shot either.
A couple other things I noticed:
- [spoil]The bit where M-O shakes WALL-E’s hand in the trailer never happens. In the movie, it’s EVE who grabs M-O’s hand, and WALL-E introduces himself in a later scene.[/spoil]
- I’m not 100% sure of this, but I don’t think the Captain ever says “Arrest that robot” in the movie. [spoil]He says “Arrest him”, referring to the robot, however.[/spoil]
The entire teaser never appears in the film.
(As all of you probably know) Pixar does that with all their teasers.
Noticed #1, not 2, but yeah, now that you mention it…
…is there an echo in here? XD
Sorry. Anyway, yeah. [spoil]And WALL-E didn’t look so beat up either. [/spoil]
This discussion isn’t about the teaser, it’s strange because most Pixar trailers (if not trailers in general) use footage from the final movie only.
Speaking of WALL-E outside the movie, here’s WALL-E’s first cameo! He’s a spaceship driver at the end of the musical number in the latest short, Your Friend the Rat!
The WALL-E video game seems to follow the trailer closer than the movie does. I suspect that they (Pixar) created an initial story and prepared the movie, then sent the story to THQ for game creation, but then changed some points of the plot.
Where does the Captain say “arrest him”? You mean when he tells EVE to arrest GO-4?
Yeah that’s what he’s talking about.
And yes! WALL-E is in that short! once I saw the movie I went back to my Ratatouille DVD just to see him again!
I never noticed that.
Well, to your credit, he’s small and very simply drawn (2D and maybe about 20 shapes for his whole body). He’s also not the focus of the action.
He’s on screen for maybe 3-4 seconds.
He’s there. He’s in the “Your Friend the Rat” short. Heck, you know what? Lemme to get my DVD and cap it right now. It’s just too cute.

See? Apparently he was drive a bus. Who knew?
BTW, speaking of pictures and deleted scenes…
Did this scene ever happen?
The only thing that I thought was different was the noise that some of the robots made.
I hope that when the DVD comes out, they come out with a few deleted scenes!
Destination: Same here. Right after watching the movie, I thought it was really good, what could they have taken out? We’ll soon see when the DVD comes out I hope.
Netbug, no, that scene doesn’t happen. Too bad, though–it’s damned pretty, huh?
